Brane Cantenac can’t do no wrong the last few years. Every year is another step up in quality. The 2020 is truly excellent. On the nose, dark fruits, hint of cocoa, hint of menthol, dried flowers. On the palate, fine tannins, high acidity, but still balanced. Elegant, intense even at 13.5% alc. Top of the class in this price point.

From the cellar...compared to earlier bottles that were more approachable, I found this bottle to be completely shut down now needing 5+ hours of swirling decanting to begin to deliver. Time to either let this one rest for now or plan for many hours of air.

Like many CT'ers have pointed out this young Bordeaux is drinking very well at this stage. Bottle was opened for three days and every approach was better than the last. Great QPR and even better wine.

Really a superb young Bordeaux. Balanced fruit, acidity and tannins. Unusually approachable and desirable for young Bordeaux. Unwraps with air but still maintains the youthful kick. Will enjoy following this over the years. The best I’ve had from this chateau at this stage, with room to improve.

Suckling Wines of the World: no detailed notes but recall silky tannins and good freshness and black fruits.
