Pop and pour. On the nose: soft sweet tobacco leaf, wild strawberry, resin, so vibrant, but light. On the palate: so elegant, almost weightless, cherry, wild strawberry, soft blood orange, hi-toned, and finely-grained tannin on the close. A stunning bottle already, but I'm sure this will be fantastic with more bottle age.

First taste of the 2019 Montevertine; super fresh strawberry, dark cherry, and red currant; violet, mint, orange peel, and a hint of spice. Just pure and delicious as usual. A little riper than some vintages, but well judged acidity keeps it vibrant. Should age well, but also will be irresistible in youth.

You can sense the potential here, although this is still quite young and unformed. The structure and oak are a bit too noticeable at the moment, but there is noting overdone or forced here. The oak is deft, the fruit is polished and the tannins are quite fine. This just needs time.

Decanted 2 hours. Medium ruby, perhaps less extracted than the 2018 in comparison. Dark cherries, iron, earth, mineral, purple flower notes. Beautiful balance on the palate, with plenty of tannin to suggest a long life ahead. This is an excellent wine but I didn’t find it as immediately approachable or open as the 2018. It will be fun to see how this develops with more time in the bottle.

Tobacco, cherry, strawberry, stone fruit. Smooth and dry. Will age well.
