  • I can honestly say this was one of the best bottles of wine I have ever had. Took it to Nick & Stef's Steakhouse. Nose of tobacco and mushrooms. The wine still had a strong backbone of alcohol, tannins, and acidity, paired by notes of dark fruit, blended in a dusty/earthy flavor profile. Classic Bordeaux, it has that taste that reminds me of other wines I've had from that region. Tons of depth, smooth as hell, and just delicious all around. Loved it. Thank you to my father who kept it in his cellar in Switzerland for many years, he was kind enough to gift it to me.

  • Perfect fill level in the neck. Perfect label and cork. Awesome nose dominated by iron, blood and pencil lead. In the mouth it was youthful, full bodied and long. A great wine with over 41 years in the cellar. I couldn't have hoped for a better showing.

  • It’s in a perfect place now. Tertiary characteristics starting to dominate. Still plenty of life, yet fully resolved. Great balance, too.

  • Deep ruby red with pink rim. Youthful appearance. Blueberry, cedar, leaves, lead, tobacco, woodsy slightly musty notes. High toned acid but tannins are smooth and fully integrated with an effortlessness which seems to be a 82 bordeaux quality. More of the same on the palate but with some slight room to go as there is sufficient grip and medium to medium high body. Ends with a sour cherry type note but not unpleasant and it adds a st estephe character. Very very nice 1982.

  • Opened in HK. P&P and then it was still so big that we chose to decant it.

This really surprised me upon opening, as this was still quite tight, big and tannic. This was especially the case when compared side-by-side to an '82 Pichon-Baron, which was blossoming from the start, which prompted us to chuck the rest into a decanter.

Honestly, any decent Bordeaux from '82 is a treat, but this didn't really do it for me. Good wine but nothing special, turned a corner with some air and became quite tertiary after a while. Strange bottle to me, couldn't really wrap my head around it.
