So much has been written about the flavors of this legendary wine, that there really is not anything else to add to that. Right now it is in a sweet spot and is perfect. Probably can age for several more years but I cannot imagine it improving significantly beyond where it is at right now. Did not decant the bottle, but had the Sommelier open it, and we let it breathe slowly over the course of the evening. It did get better with some air, and was excellent until the very last drop.

Plenty has been written about this wine over the years - nobody needs my thoughts on the aromas and flavours etc. So let this note serve as an update on where this wine is at in March of 2024. There is still primary fruit here and amazing freshness for a 42 year old wine. While I don’t think it will necessarily improve, it is in a perfect window now. Can’t see that changing for a few years. OK to hold for a bit in my view.

A fresher bottle of 82 Mouton with truffle, dark currant, cassis and leather. On the palate, it was vivid, fresh and layered with multi-faceted complexity. Quite a spherical wine.

Not the best bottle of 1982 I had, but still an amazing wine. Missing some tension unfortunately.
