Acker Pre-Auction Tasting Wines & In-Auction Dinner Wines (Zuma - New York NY): Tasting, brief note. Wonderful aromas I wouldn't have thought almost 50 years old. Nicely mature red cherry, licorice and dried rose petals with various other spice hints. Similar flavors, slightly less intense. 95 point aromas, 90 point flavors.

A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Burgundy, Piedmont, Riesling, Champ and Sautenres (The Grill Room at Rosewood DC): Still reasonably expressive nose displaying dark cherry fruit, tar, leather and earth. Good concentration, surprisingly generous dry cherry fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity and medium long finish. The piedmont equivalent of a fully mature solid village red Burgundy from a great producer. Not showing a lot of finesse and complexity. Nevertheless, it is a very good mature Barbaresco with good concentration.

Reddish brown, this wine was past its prime, but nevertheless it was fun to drink as a bit of fruit was still evident. I can only imagine what this wine was like at its peak.

Nebbiolo Lunch with Jeremy Parzen (I Trulli, NYC): [Decanted at 11am.] Smokey nose. Muted on the palate at 2pm. Seems to be a bit over the hill at this point, but still complex and interesting. By 3pm, it's alive! At least it is showing more fullness and richness. Still very mature, but Jamie was right, this needed at least 4 hours of air. Quite special now.
