Deep dark core, richly coloured. Rich intense fragrance, dark berry, earth, dark spice, sweet blueberry zest. Fleshy, open, velvety texture. Classic DP blueberry and raspberry with hints of cassis, great intensity, super ripeness, lovely earthy complexity that is not overpowering at all, lightly chalky tannins still present, delicious. Fully ready.

Gevrey City Tasting (Zoom / Chicago): Single blind. Easily my favorite is this 99/02 B/C Dugat flight. Wow, full nose of smoke, toasted herb, and sweet black cherry. The palate is similarly effusive and complex with sweet fruit and savory nuance. In a wonderful spot now.

Gevrey-Chambertin ("Downtown") 1er Cru Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Maybe not the most handsome or elegant Gevrey 1er Cru, but this is completely engaging and enthralling with so much back fruit, meaty character and woodsy spice. Some awkward elbows come through, but so much power and complexity. Great now with possible upside. Bravo!

Bad bottle? Tasted like it wasn't stored that well. Still a nice mature nose, but it completely died after 10 minutes of opening. Then, 30 minutes later, it miraculously came back to life, but in an animated zombie form -- maybe half the body it used to be. Same lot as PLiu's so that might have something to do with it. If I had to score my bottle, it would be an 86.

PNP, fresh nose of dark fruit flavours with light touch of minerality. Quite concentrated from the old vines. Overall a lovely drink but no fireworks.
