Both ripe and tight, with an uber-linear execution that needed every bit of O2 that the decanter it was in could offer. Quality is certainly high, but this is an animal that will require some patience before it can blossom into its fullest potential. More on the purple berry spectrum, with a deeper-pitched profile than I would normally associate with this region. There is a lurking lusciousness here, but the frame is so grippy, there is little room for the fruit to flex in its given state. Dusty and linear, finishing clipped and furry. Excellent tension and pulsating energy. Revisit in 2030+.
Domaine G. Roumier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos de La Bussière Vertical (Verve Wine - Chicago IL): In 15/16/17/18 vertical, all opened 45 minutes before serving. Ripe aromatic start, more meaty on palate, but clearly the most ripe of the vertical, but also very bright, texturally complex and balanced. Complex and enticing nose, less forthcoming on palate but also clearly lots here, just behind fairly firm tannins for now. Similar to the 2015 in many ways. Better 2028-2050+.

Pours a light purple color. Profile matches the 2018 vintage. Ripe rich plush fruit. Blueberry galore! Backed by solid acidity. With air, more oak becomes pronounced as the wine begins to shut down. Fun to check in but clearly a hold.

Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting (3/9 Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting, NYC): Nose is clean but tight--speaks of noble wood and cherry. Palate is too tight to read in a small pour large tasting format but obviously very promising.

Oak, black and blue fruits. Tasty but needs a decade, and should have enough balance to make it at least that long.
