  • Decanted about 30 min and consumed over a few hours during dinner. Beautiful wine, mature Barbaresco with dried rose petal, leather, dusty plum, great acid, tannin still present and not yet fully resolved. Nose is enthralling and changed throughout the night. Quite an experience 95-96

  • Two hour decant. Phenomenal graceful floral nose of rose petals and red fruit. The palate is fully mature and very silky with most of the tannins fully resolved. Red fruit, a little tar and earthiness and some spice come through. There is great complexity in the mid palate and you keep coming back to the wine for what new it will offer. The only flaw might be a little shortness of the finish. Overall this is a great wine for drinking now.

  • Decanted the wine 2 hours before dinner. Cork was not in good shape i guess due to bad storage. The wine was phenomenal, i could stay there smellng it forever. Tannins were tamed but it showed there is still lfe ahead of it. I wish it was easier in life to drink such wines...

  • Impressive showing and my last bottle. Needed several hours in the glass to show its true form. Drank over 3 hours at Howie Steak in Bellevue with good friends. Last of the 1999's - moving on to the 2000's.

  • Amazing wine that has lots of life left in it. Opened about 30 minutes before dinner at La Grotta in Buckhead. Decanted at the restaurant where we had this wine along with an '83 Palmer. The Gaja was muted at first but began to open over the 1.5 hour decant. Lots of tightness and hard tannin at first that evolved into wonderful cherry and chocolate flavors and sweet and soft tannin. This wine really held its' own versus the stellar '83 Palmer. It went wonderfully with the Veal Chop that I had for dinner. This has lots of life ahead and is just starting to hit its' drinking window that should last for 10 years.
