Wow! Simply huge and incredible. After a 3 hour decant, still needs more time. It’s got the structure to age for easily 40 more years. Nose is a bit closed, but fruity. It start off with light red fruits and is overtaken by powerful secondary flavors and earthy undertones, a little tobacco and cacao. Really complex. Really a ton to unpack here. Incredibly young, but still delicious . Scoring what it is now, but it’s ceiling is sky high. This is Jack Hughes right now: pretty damn good, but excellent potential for the future.

Consumed as the centerpiece of a celebratory evening with my son. Luminescent medium garnet color. Stunningly fresh fruit up front, but tons of delicious tertiary flavors underneath. Blackberry, raspberry and a touch of brambly spice. Plenty of tannic heft. Many, many years of life ahead. This is clearly a case of infanticide, but it is a wonderful wine at this point in time.

Decanter Gaja Masterclass - 30 Years of Legendary wine making presented by Gaia Gaja (Decanter FWE, The Landmark hotel, London): The amphitheater at the top of the hill named after Clotilde Rey ( Angelo Gaja's Grandmother). Our favorite if the lot. Light on the color much like all 2016s. Muted nose at start but developed nicely, softly much like all of the wine, floral, herbs de provence feel. DArker and rounder, fleshier fruit from the more exposure to the sun it gets. Rounder expression, more supple. darker at times but still very much a light and elegant wine light on it feet and full of charm. Too young to rate but a super solid wine.

Red berries wit a little sweet touch. High amount of tannins. Your mouth feels like the desert Gobi after a big sip. Super long amazing finish. Let this rest for another 10 years and it will start showing its beauty. (Tasted at Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2019 Masterclass.)
