Took about an hour to get going, but ultimately more youthful than the 71 Barbaresco. Dark fruit, dried roses, core of red fruit, excellent energy and grip. Kept improving over 2 hours. What a treat.

Firing on all cylinders still. Usual problem with the cork - disintegrated even with careful extraction. I was afraid to decant this, thinking it would change too fast, but air makes it even better - and even a couple of hours after opening, it’s drinking beautifully.

4 hours into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Leaf” day): Pale bright ruby to the eyes.
Riper red berry fruits than 1970 and more structured and arguably more layer but less integrated than 1970. Technically you got more on the nose though. Transparent and super pure.
Bright acidity and just the right amount of tannins. Long and persistent finish.
Hard to score this anything under 94-95 points.
2nd round: really up on the nose! Super complex and complete nose. Clearly more to come and super impressed - 95 points for sure.

Gala Dinner at La Festa del Barolo 2020 (The Pool Restaurant, NYC): [A taste from Danny.] Wow! So long and ethereal. Gloriously complex with a finish that goes on and on. Totally blown away by this.
