  Initially intensely bretty even evoking the thought it could be flawed. But with a sufficient decant it blows off and unfurls to reveal dark fruit, heavy sous bois, dried violets and minerals. There is good complexity and layers but it’s a bit out of balance and doesn’t have the concentration and Grand Cru intensity you want both from the vineyard and from the vintage. It seems to be aging rather quickly, and drank older than it should, but still enjoyable.

  This wine became quite expressive and vibrant after aerating it in the bottle for 3 hours and in the glass for an additional hour. There were lots of fresh and stewed fruits with noticeable yet pleasant tannins in the medium long finish.

  2009 Red Burgundies - Pre-Arrival 1:30pm Group (Vin, Vino, Wine Palo Alto CA): More candied fruit on the nose than I prefer. Others really loved the nose. Very friendly fruit flavor, some citrus flavors. long finish. Very tasty wine.
