Wines Tasted at HDH Auction; 4/1/2016-4/2/2016 (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): Small glass, brief note. Shockingly fresh for its age from a problematic vintage. Good balance of mature black and red fruit, earth, leather. Good density, which I'd consider great in context of age and vintage. Some awkward angles on finish, but a very leasing surprise overall.

HDH Burgundy Auction; 4/1/2016-4/2/2016 (Chicago, IL): My first 1982 Burgundy. There's a lot of interesting earthy funk on the nose, as well as some lovely tea notes. A bit of soy and definitely showing advanced. Admittedly this isn't the best vintage of the decade, but it's in great shape and showing quite well.

Year end blindtasting: Browning red color. Aromas of perfumed cherry and orange. More youthful on the palate with some sweet fruit, primarily strawberry and cherry. Nice long taste and great balance.

DOA. No fruit, dirty and highly unenjoyable. I'm surprised how bad it was. Either a bad bottle or just a poor excuse for CdV.
