Very earthy and spicy nose. Fruit aromas were initially buried under layers of burning peat smells, along with cumin and tamarind. A swirl around in the glass brought out pungent cherry on the palate. Lovely transparent edge to the color in the glass, and some bricking. Not overly complex but nice and rich, considering its age. Terrific old burgundy. Needless to say, drink up. Score: 93. Relative to expectations: ++

La Paulée Zachy's Auction Friday (Le Bernardin Privé): 85 MM GE/CV side-by-side. A wow nose with so much depth and perhaps a touch more intensity than the GE. The fruit is a little more fresh here in the CV. Great spice, earth and mineral notes. Drinks consistently well over an hour.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction; 3/7/2019-3/8/2019 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Fantastic aromas, so Vosne - esque. Charming flavors with slightly more earth than fruit. Very good now.
