  Tasted in a vertical of all the released vintages of Redoma from 1991 until 2009. A blend of Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Francesa. Aged partly in older barrels and partly in French barriques. 13,5% alcohol.
  
  Quite translucent black cherry color with a wide, colorless rim. Sweet, ripe and rich nose with complex aromas of juicy dark plums, boysenberries, some wizened dark fruits, a little bit of liquorice and a hint of cherry marmalade. The wine is quite full-bodied and robust on the palate with dry, intense flavors of roasted spices, stony minerality, sour cherry bitterness, some juicy dark plums, a little bit of savory oak spice and a hint of tart lingonberries. Overall the wine feels pretty powerful and rather tough with moderately high acidity and rather grippy, firm and ample tannins. The acidity seems to grow in intensity towards the lengthy, dry aftertaste. The finish is moderately grippy with savory flavors of sour cherries, some tart lingonberries, a little bit of peppery spice, a hint of liquorice and a touch of savory, slightly toasty oak spice.
  
  An incredibly complex, powerful and impressive vintage of Redoma with a lot of heft and youth left in the wine. Compared to most of the 1990's vintages, this was still remarkably youthful and it feels like the wine is still quite far away from its apogee. Many previous tasting notes have commented on the pronounced oak character of the wine, but now, at almost 23 years of age, the obvious oak tones have wonderfully integrated underneath the fruit, yet the wine is far from showing any tertiary character. Further aging will do nothing but good for this still remarkably tightly-wound and vibrant wine, stylistically surprisingly similar to the Left Bank Bordeaux of 1995. Decanting is recommended, as there was quite a bit of deposit in the bottle. Overall a splendid wine, highly recommended.
