Quite a beautiful nose of macerated cherries, forest floor, balsam, and herbs. Great structure and supple with sweet tannins but good acidity and structure. Long finish; firmly in strike zone

Popped and poured at Il Buco in New York City, this 1990 Biondi-Santi was a special wine from a special vintage. Having had some poor oxidation luck with mature Brunello di Montalcino, I was really hoping this bottle panned out and I couldn't have been happier with the end result. The nose almost gave the wine an extra point as aromas of red cherries, spices, leather, moss / forest floor and hints of cedar all worked together to lure you in. The wine was medium bodied with a silk-like elegance as raspberries and red cherries dominated the upfront before a tertiary mid-palette of leather and oak led into a licorice dominated a short finish. Just a delightfully complex wine that drank like it had plenty of life ahead of it.

Pretty much echo Melvin's notes on this wine. I loved it from the get-go. There were some comments about people being surprised it was Sangiovese. For me, this is clearly a mature expression of traditional winemaking in the Brunello region.

C & YM Birthday Dinner (Empire Chinese Cuisine): Blind. Guess this as aged Bordeaux, iron, blood, rounded with dry tannins. A little aged compared to how I like my wines
