Sangiovese night (Chicago, IL): At first, I thought this came across a bit like Gruaud Larose, a little funky, stern, and charmless, but there was a brief moment where I found a little dirtiness as well (that I dismissed in the way some people think Cordier funk isn't a flaw), but with air the TCA definitely started to rear its head.

Smooth and delicious!
Not a ton of fruit left but still enough to balance the acidity..
Definitely a world class wine in a not perfect vintage..

Slow-oxed for 9 hours upon serving into Sy glass (“Root” into “Flower” day):
“Beef broth” with savoury spices and very much signature darker fruits and morello cherries.
Very much still needs time and very fine boned acidity.
94 points.
Second round: chocolate like savoury spices, less about fruits but more about harmony here.
