  • Last of 15 bottles consumed since purchasing this wine in 1997, I think upon release in US. This last bottle was incredible - very elegant - reminded me of an excellent amarone, even at this age. About 15 years ago, I brought a bottle of this wine to an event honoring Manfred and Elaine Krankl, of Sine Qua Non, where everyone was asked to bring a bottle of unique syrah - I do not recall seeing anybody spitting it out.

  • Drank with wine-loving friends in Geneva. Didn't decant as wasn't sure how it would hold up - don't think it needed it (although threw a large amount of sediment). Unusual but not unpleasant nose, reminded some of sweet and sour - reminded me of a good claret. Still deep in colour. Lovely and mature on the palate - plenty of fruit but with real class and with a long finish. A real surprise that it showed so well and ran the Mouton 89 close for wine of the night.

  • Wonderful complex mature shiraz. Deep red/garnet color. Forward aromas of red fruit and briar. Mature flavors on the palate of tea, but with plenty of fruit left to hold it up. Balanced and complex. Drinking well, but probably on the back side of the curve. Janet didn't love it though. 93 pts. 2/03
Big forward aroma of purple fruit, pepper, and spice. Rich bold lack fruit with firm acidity and a picy finish. Drinking very well - still youthful. 93+ pts. 1/06
