Cork broke in half on opening. Was in very firmly and dry on the sides. Ripe black and red fruit couched in quite a bit of cedar oak with vanilla also present on the nose. A bit of dusty earth and old leather in there too but this really about the ripe fruit and wood. Was perhaps best from the first glass, 20 minutes from the cellar as it showed just a little heat once it warmed up to room temp. Overall, probably better than I thought it would be after my last note (11 years ago!).

Still looks pretty vibrant. Fairly deep ruby color with just a tinge of mahogany at the rim. Red fruit notes, savory yet also pretty and fragrant. Some vanilla and oak. Maybe a touch of earthiness. Supple, velvety feel to the palate. Still plenty of fruit in there. Tannins are nicely integrated. Just a touch hot on the finish maybe? But a wonderful wine. I have tried a couple of vintages of this wine and been impressed every time.
Also tasted second day and still delicious, so perhaps worthy of time in the decanter.

Medium plus intensity aromas of autumn leaves and bonfire under black berry and cherry fruit, muted saddle leather and spice. Flavours of ripe black berry and cherry spice, fine silky tannins, slight coffee notes joins fruit on long finish. Good
