  • Resolved, complex, lovely stuff

  • One of the best Shiraz that I have had from Oz. Lovely fading red colour in the glass, wonderful nose - fully resolved on the palate with a very long finish - lots of complexity and flavours to interest, hard not to love!

  • Medium ruby color in the glass, turning a very slight orange tinge at the rim.

Right after decanting to remove sediment I took a whiff and said "Strawberries and cream". Interesting! With a few minutes aeration and in the glass, it showed a nose of lavender, mountain herbs, licorice and vanilla as well. On the palate, roasted nuts, a touch of coffee perhaps, blackberries, good structure and body and a good long finish.

With an hour or so in the glass different flavors came to the fore: now the nose was showing more black pepper and spice, and in the mouth, truffles.

This is not a bowl-you-over wine; it's quite elegant and restrained. The nose in particular, while complex, needed time.

    But excellent stuff!

  • Deep red in color with a rim tending only very slightly towards tawny. This wine had a nose that started slowly with sweet caramel. After an hour or so the nose expanded to include spices (white pepper) and sweet tobacco, as well as oregano and other dried herbs. On the palate, wood smoke and a slight mushroomy note were evident; the wine was medium bodied with marked acidity and a sweet, somewhat hollow, finish. Having bought this recently I would surmise that it's already somewhat over the hill, but still showing quite a bit of complexity.
