Very clear and deft use of some expensive oak on the nose. That, I would say, is David Ramey for you. And I mean it in a nice way. The black earth and savory soy thing comes through underneath, the palate is more taught, with green peppercorn notes. Lots of complexity, very young. A reborn winery to watch.

Medium red color. Straightforward cabernet nose: olives, cherry, chocolate, some vanilla. On arrival, low but fine grained tannin and balanced acidity; an early drinking style. Development in an hour with air is slight, but the supple body and good fruit carry it nicely. Finishes with some oak spice, olives and cherry fruit. A much better showing than a couple months back, at same restaurant, by the glass.

Medium-dark red color. A rather simple nose (BV Beautour CS comes to mind), a stylistic shock to the system based upon prior vintages. Gone is the Bordeaux-like profile (olives, cassis, herbs, anisette) and in its place is an inoffensive, unremarkable fruity wine (cherry, rhubarb, blackberry tea) with far too much new oak and a structure of heavily brewed black tea. By the glass with lunch, from a fresh bottle. Very disappointing.

Tastes great on day one and day two. And shows the hand of David Ramey, which I think is a positive here.
