  Purchased from the winery a decade ago. Decanted for an hour or so before drinking with steaks, pierogies and mushrooms. Shockingly youthful 47 year old Pinot! Ever so slight bricking when decanted but with air almost all of it disappeared. Beautiful nose with rose petals, baking spice, leather, fresh turned earth, ripe red plum, black cherry and licorice. Gorgeous texture, lightweight yet dense with flavor. Super long and complex on the palate with layers reflecting the nose. Still lively and energetic. Earthy and mineral undertones but yet nicely fruited. Only bottle that didn’t disappoint.

  This bottle aged beautifully. Purchased directly from Hanzell library. Medium garnet and brown color at the rim. Aromas of cherry, fig, prune, forest floor, anise, tosted wood, caremel, leather and cigar. Perfectly balanced with a long finish. Fully developed.

  This is a rather herbal wine with an abundance of eucalyptus, but also notes of blood orange and some oak. The fruit notes are dark and dense. There is a grippy fine grained tannic structure. Some port wine notes also appear together with some alcohol. Developed very well after a couple of hours in the decanter.

  Direct from the winery library release. Perfect fill, and cork came out in a couple of pieces. Wonderfully rich and vigorous and not showing its age one bit. Reminded me of a great Volnay. Highly recommended.
