Lovely stone fruits on the body with elegant notes of oak on the nose. Medium acid, long finish. Surprising how vibrant it is given the age. No oxidized flavors, mature but not showing decline.
I was not expecting this wine to be as good as it was. When I recieved the bottle from Aucwine, the cork had "pistoned" and the capsule was loose- which made me think heat damage, but this wine was definitely not.
The wine pours with a golden hue, immediately I am hit with aromas of lanolin, lemon curd, and wet crushed rocks. After about 20 minutes the wine began to open up- softening that crunchy lemony note. Aromas of apricot, honey, citrus, and bitter herbs with a little oxidation on the nose. In the mouth, the wine is vibrant and fresh, if not a little tired. Flavors are pretty balanced, the wine seems a little acid forward. Flavors of apples, honey, and citrus and again a bit of oxidation. The wine comes off a bit simple in the mouth- but that nose is too intoxicating. For $30.00, I am a happy camper.

Tasted alongside the '96 I think this is very good, and on its own would be scored well with and without food. But the '96 had the edge on it for my palate. Drink up. A-

White fruit (peach, apricot, slight citrus- lemon), slight creaminess, good acidity, slight floral. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable. 91+
