a big brooding wine that opens with a nose of rose, cherries, and sous bois. on the palate the wine shows cherry, blackberry, scorched earth, tar, and some pomegranate. plenty of tannins left though they are now fine grained and well integrated. great mouthfeel and a long slow finish are highlights . shows balance, breath, and depth. probably still has another 10 years left. the large cask untoasted neutral oak on this allows the nebbiolo to shine. went great with some tuscan salami. a wonderful traditional barolo in every way

On opening, it showed NOTHING. I thought I had completely missed this one. Threw it into a decanter just cuz, why not? It did begin to show some life. Dark fruit but pretty dried out. Still drinkable but definitely past it’s prime. And I have 2 left !!

Had some of this one day and the rest 4 days later - on the fourth day this was quite pedestrian but remember lots of strawberry and floral notes on the first day. I am not comfortable putting a number on this one, quite rare for me.

First night this was very closed - very dry and woody. On the second night this was wonderful - very full wine with intensity and complexity. Obviously no hurry.

Kleur: Fluwelig donkerrood, Bourgogne-achtig, oranjebruin, doorzichtig. Aroma / bouquet: Belegen bouquet. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 8 = 91/100
