Barolo and Barbaresco 2014s at Terra Rossa (Terra Rossa, London N1): Potpourri, menthol and red fruit on the quite regal nose. Seemed to show some class and stature yet for me it seemed a little acerbic on the finish. Perhaps in another 3 to 5 years this will blossom? Score based upon performance on the evening rather than potential.

2014 Barolo and Barbaresco (Terra Rossa): A soulful nose, with an ashy note and increasingly energetic with more air: really attractive. Delightful and so refreshing on the palate, with lovely red fruit, a seam of fresh blackcurrant and a slightly sweet finish. Didn't feel too early to open this, but it is barely at the start of its window and I will wait a few years before opening my first bottle (I didn't bring this tonight). My and the group's #3 tonight.

Gave this a 4 -5 hour decant. Very flowery almost grassy nose. Almost none existent tannins. Didn't seem to be a lot going on in terms of pallet. Good mouthfeel and decent finish. While a decent barolo it just seemed to lack complexity. Perhaps the time in the decanter was too long? At any rate, this Didn't show like a $100+ highly rated barolo. Last wine of the night and I don't think anyone in our group was overly impressed with this bottle.

I liked it and it was really well made but somehow the wow factor was missing.

Paired with braised short ribs. Still young.
