Fabulous! Problably the Paul Sauer I've tasted. In perfect harmony right now. Pure fruit and melted tannins and striking balance. Still plenty of life in this. One of the most ageworthy wines from ZA.

Weekly tasting group #135; A mixed set of wines. (@ The factory by MN): The bouquet is a bit dusty with ripe red fruits, some spiciness and vanilla. On the palate juicy red and black forest fruits, a good balance between acidity and sweetness and friendly tannin. Not the best Paul Sauer ever produced, but certainly a beautiful wine. Ready now.

Birth year wines (plus some extra's) (@ JB): Just a few notes: Beautiful bouquet with cassis and pleasant oak. On the palate Cabernet and some bell pepper and a beautiful classical style of wine. Ready now, but no hurry.

Open, generous nose, plenty of cedar at first, later giving way to Margaux-like sweet cassis. Full bodied but not overpowering on the palate, juicy fruit, cedar, oak, toasted Asian spice. Clean, long finish. Very nice, balanced, textbook claret copy. No sign of burnt rubber or heat. Drink or keep.

Quite funky bouquet of herbs, chocolate. On the palate smoke, licorice, cassis. Really quite good.
