Slowly working through an OWC case bought at auction and this wine has always performed. This bottle was bottom neck, and the cork was a bit problematic and almost needed to strain, but the fondue fork saved the day! Served close to refrigerator temp and either because of this or air it took about 30 minutes to open up. The nose hints at light honey and there is a persimmon, or is it quince/lychee fruit profile on the palate. Very enjoyable.

The Fine Wine Experience Classic Claret II (Restaurant The Square **, London): Very rich style, nose like a Barsac, honeyed and waxy, dry but well-rounded and well-balanced, not the stamina of the 1945, in fact a totally different style.
