2006 Fratelli Brovia Barolo Ca'miaNebbiolo more |
2/16/2015 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis was a big young Barolo with a nice mix of red and black fruits. The tannins were very fine and there was a nice hint of anise on the finish. This wine needs another 5 years to be at its best, but despite its more traditional style, it was very pleasant now. |

11/13/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 90 pointsthis was much better than the last bottle. Nice Gevrey earthiness with a great nose of red and black fruits. Nice fruit on palate with good acidity, nice weight and mouthfeel. This bottle just tasted fresher than the last. This wine is still on the upswing. |

10/9/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 91 pointsA very pleasant surprise. The nose started with a little funk and was a little stewed. After about 30 minutes, that blew off, leaving a nice freshness with ripe plum and black cherry on the nose. The palate showed nice acidity with very ripe dark fruits with plum, black cherry and some ripe blueberry. There was a little secondary starting around the edges. This wine appears to be much fresher than the last time I tasted it. I look forward to opening another in a year or two. |

9/23/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 95 pointsi loved this wine. It had a wonderful fruit driven, dark fruit nose leading to dark fruit, and wet earth flavors on the palate. Didn't have the intensity of the '07 Roumier, but was much more elegant and pure. |

9/23/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 93 pointsA fascinating wine. The wine starts with a dusty chocolate note on the nose. The palate has tremendous depth of flavors with lots of dark fruit and a touch of "orange dreamcicle" that is classic Musigny. But, where does the chocolate come from? It was pleasant but unusual. I subtracted 2 points for the uncharacteristic nuance. |

8/28/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 93 pointsI'm no longer wondering. This wine is coming around. The searing acidity of 1996 has faded, leaving behind a beautifully balanced wine with lovely cherry, and a little of the classic Dujac cinnamon spice. This is a really beautiful wine. |

6/12/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE Likes this wine: 94 pointsTremendous flavors of dark fruits, iron and baking spice. This wine has put on some weight since the last time I tried it. Nice secondary flavors of mushrooms as accents add to the complexity. I would have liked to spend more time with this wine over the evening. |

6/12/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 91 pointsNice honeyed apple and pear flavors. Was a very enjoyable drink, but I expected more from this vineyard and vintage. Seemed a bit past its prime and lacked some of the acidity and energy one would expect of a grand cry at this age. Both bottles were very consistent. |

5/24/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 87 pointsSome reduction on the nose mixed with jammy dark fruits on the palate. The wine was a tad overripe and lacked the balance of tannin and acid. Overall, a decent '97, but not a great wine and marginally enjoyable. The flaws of the vintage could not be overcome. |

4/12/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 91 pointsExcellent Volnay. Great balance, good tannin and acidity with a tremendous amount of solid material. Wonderful mix of red cherry and dark fruits, with a touch of smoke. Still mostly primary, medium to full bodied. Just at the beginning of its prime drinking window. May be even better in a couple of years. This is a very pleasant surprise. |

4/4/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 88 pointsNice Gevrey earthiness with a pleasant mouthfeel and nice palate weight. Dark fruit flavors with good acidity. Would have liked a little more fruit in the flavor profile. The earthiness was dominant. |

4/1/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 88 pointsA nice village wine. Has shed its Pinot baby fat. Surprisingly acidic for an '07. Needs another year or two. Nice silky texture with dark fruit flavors. More Chambolle in texture than flavor profile. |

3/4/2014 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 90 pointsVery pretty wine, showing nice clean red and black fruits, nice acidity (without being overly so) and nice mineral characteristics. Surprisingly, drinking quite well without seeming to be pre-mature. This wine is still on the upswing but will be hard to keep my hands off. |

12/31/2013 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 90 pointsThis wine started off as very bretty. After an hour in decanter, a lovely mature burgundy with flavors of back cherry mixed with forget floor and mushrooms emerged. The Bret was still a bit overwhelming, but was slowly moving to the background. I would have liked more time, but I couldn't keep the family at dinner any longer. Admittedly, the score is a bit generous based upon an projection of where the wine was going. |

12/31/2013 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 89 pointsOpened with an initial bit of reduction on the nose. This blew off and there was a nice moderately mature burgundy with some sour cherry and mushroom flavors. Unfortunately, this was a bit bretty and I found that distracting from the enjoyment. |

12/25/2013 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 90 pointsDrank with Christmas dinner of mushroom crusted tenderloin. The wine was open for 4 hours before dinner and was still a bit of a tannic beast. Starting to gain a little weight. There was a nice core of dark fruits, mushrooms and Forest floor. Drank side by side with the '93 and '97. The least pleasurable of the 3. |

12/8/2013 - LBBURGJUNKIE wrote: 93 pointsA classic Gevrey, with a great nose of cherry and wet earth. Flavors of cherry and mineral. Lots of power and depth. This was still a young wine with some time to go. A nice contrast with the '99 Dujac Combottes. This was more of a classic Gevrey wine with Grand Cru potential. I really liked this one. |
