5/2/2024 - Decanting Queen Likes this wine: 92 pointsTasted at a Bordeaux and pizza event. Excellent but not as good as my past bottles of this, I am guessing that this could have used more decant time (may have been pnp when I tasted). Very red fruited and good acidity, nice with pizza! |

5/1/2024 - vvWine.ch wrote: 91 points90-92 Punkte.

4/22/1991 - bestdamncab Likes this wine: 93 points70% CS, 25% M, 5% CF/PV. Nice, rich, brilliant color, hint of CO2 on nose, lots of rich fruit, deep, well rounded, spice present, very rich, thick, rounded, supple wine, almost a hint of chocolate richness on the finish, one of the last wines to be picked. |

4/19/2024 - jlhkiss Likes this wine: 91 pointsOpened and decanted 1.5 hours ahead of seared rib-eye, garlic potatoes, and mixed salad. Overall, took about 3.5 hours in the decanter to fully open up. Dark, purple-crimson color. Gravel nose brings fresh cherry blossoms, red roses, blueberry compote, blackcurrant, and pipe tobacco. The palate is medium-full, square, and compact, revealing bright Bing cherries, sweet raspberries and blueberries, dark chocolate, espresso bean, anise, and dried mud which flows into a moderately tannic yet extended finish. Still on the upward slope so drink 2026-2040. Technical score: 91. Enjoyment score: 91. |

4/18/2024 - ChristP Likes this wine: 95 pointsLast note was in March 2016. I had a look at what I'd written eight years ago to refresh my memory. It's still pretty much in the same place with an inky dark red color in the glass with rich dark fruits on the palate and a texture like silk, but still some decent tannins left. The oak seems to have gone though. Over a couple of hours it evolved and became more complex. I guess that there must be at least another five years or longer left in this beauty from a fantastic vintage. This was the last bottle from a case of six. But I have the 2020 to look forward to in a few years time. |

Silky smooth and precise. Perhaps noted a little heat on opening but didn’t seem to notice after 2 hours of air. One of the best 18s I’ve had. 2 people found this helpful, do you? 4/9/2024 - DanE Likes this wine: 86 pointsBit past it's best. Still deep garnet red with a brown edge and clear meniscus. Nose was faint but appealing with red fruit and a hint of leather. Slightly bland, fruit and rounded but not exciting. |

4/8/2024 - englishman's claret wrote: 92 pointsThe 1985 Talbot is softly fading, the full, fleshy ripe fruit which was so front and center a decade ago now blending into the more delicate redcurrant jelly notes that often characterize Talbot with age. Cedar, unsmoked cigar, and a touch of capsicum round out the nose, a hint of Brett present but not obscuring. This is an enjoyable drink now and I don’t find the stuffing of the really great vintages at Talbot that suggest this will live a very long life. But it’s been a fun ride and it’s not over yet. Neck fill, perfect cork. |

A wine worth savoring. Will drink well for several more years if properly cellared. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

4/5/2024 - stamperb Likes this wine: 93 pointsNose: Wet dark soil, old cedar, orange blossom, scent of some darker fruit, but is masked by all the moist earthy notes; very nice. Palate: Tart cassis, sour red plum, dark cherry, heavy dose of rustic weathered wood, scorched earth, playdoh; dense mouthfeel and creamy tannins, high acid; with more coaxing there's some mossy cedar and even root beer. Undoubtedly a complex wine and enjoyable now, but certainly has the foundation to improve and last for a very long time. Held up well over three days with it shinning brightest on day two. |
