5/6/24, 5:44 AM - Yes sir! Very excited that they're keeping the chenin going! Cheers bud!
5/8/24, 5:52 AM - Nope! 100 cases + high-demand = fast sellout. Ha!
5/6/24, 12:23 PM - I appreciate the note and the comment as well....but are you both saying that Heitz Martha's is made in a 'modern style'? If so, I definitely have to, respectfully, disagree. These for sure belong in the 'old school Napa' category and I have zero doubt this wine will go well over 20+ years. I have quite a few and will not touch them for years. IMHO, you actually opened this wine too soon vs. Too late. Cheers!
5/6/24, 12:30 PM - I like your style my friend :) Cheers!
5/6/24, 12:10 PM - Amazing note! I have a bottle in the cellar that I'll open this summer - fingers crossed it shows as well as yours! Cheers!
5/4/24, 5:30 PM - Awesome note! Not many of these in CT so I really appreciate you posting. Cheers!
4/28/24, 4:20 PM - Thanks for the great note! Would you hold off drinking future bottles or do you feel like this is ready to go?
4/29/24, 5:44 AM - Awesome! Really appreciate the feedback! Cheers!
4/28/24, 9:18 PM - I mean....this has to be a joke, right? Assuming this is a troll account, that was pretty good! Especially since almost all Bedrock wines are LITERALLY the opposite. Good stuff buddy- I actually laughed out loud :)
4/28/24, 4:18 PM - Sorry, there's just no way this wine is past it's prime. Folks I know who have opened one said it was way too early. Sounds like the OP prefers more fruit on their cabs, so maybe that's the reason for the discrepancy, as this wine was never that nor intended to be.
4/27/24, 7:36 PM - That would be wild if this Lorenzo's was past. I'm not planning to open any of mine for a handful of years still. One of the more structured/ long-lived wines that they make.
4/22/24, 9:44 AM - Amazing! Absolutely LOVE hearing that! Thank you very much for posting and Fingers crossed my bottle shows the same :)
4/13/24, 8:11 PM - Love to hear that! If you had a single bottle (like I sadly do) would you hold or open now?
4/15/24, 9:32 AM - Sounds good! Cheers!
4/13/24, 8:12 PM - Love it - thank you for the note! Have 3 left that I plan to hold long-term since it's my son's birth-year. Any concern with it going longer?
4/13/24, 8:09 PM - Wow, super interesting note. Literally all the other recent comments speak to this being super young and needing more time. Maybe an off bottle? Or just not your jam?
4/13/24, 8:07 PM - Thanks for the note. Since you didn't seem to dig this wine, are there any super old-vine mission Angelica wines that you would recommend over this one?
4/2/24, 11:32 AM - Awesome note, really appreciate the early look at this one! Hard not to pop one now but I'm hoping to let em rest for a few years. Cheers!
4/2/24, 3:59 PM - I'm confident that they will! Cheers bud!
3/30/24, 7:59 PM - Thanks for the note....but this is still super young, right? For reference, the 92 I opened the other day was singing.
3/31/24, 7:28 AM - Thanks for the context! Very good feedback and I appreciate it. And I 1000% agree on Dunn HM! One of the most structured and age-worthy wines in Napa! Cheers!
3/31/24, 3:01 PM - Thank you! Yep, I am definitely familiar with Quilcida Creek although I have not drank as many vs. HSS, Dunn, etc. Cheers!
7/18/21, 6:03 PM - Thanks for the note! Curious on the skip the zin and stick to heritage wines comments though, as the majority of those are zin-heavy. Do you just prefer zin blended with other grapes for the most part?
3/15/24, 11:05 AM - Fair enough! Appreciate the additional context. Cheers!
3/12/24, 10:15 PM - Awesome note, thank you for posting! I'll open my bottle soon!
3/7/24, 8:27 PM - LOVE seeing a note on this wine - thank you!! I'll look to open my last bottle in the next 5 to 10 years, ha! (Feel like there's zero rush)
3/8/24, 4:55 AM - I completely agree! And that 1968 Late Harvest is one of my all-time favorite wines! It's almost impossible to find now but I'm happy to have 2 left in the cellar myself and will follow your lead with opening one when it turns 60. Cheers!
3/7/24, 8:24 PM - I mean.....I'm not even thinking about this wine until 2028+!
3/7/24, 8:59 PM - Yep, totally get it! Thank you for the note!
3/7/24, 8:25 PM - Sounds flawed, yeah??
3/3/24, 7:18 PM - Ha! I'm totally with you there as my last bottle of this was not great, but this one was excellent. Seems to be some bottle variation based on the reviews and my own experience. Either way- glad we both got a good one this time around :)
2/27/24, 4:56 PM - Great note, thank you for posting! I'll look to open my last bottle sometime soon :)
2/23/24, 12:51 PM - Thanks for the note! Haven't gotten to the 17's yet but I'm sure it's just a reflection of the vintage. Guess they can't all be aces, ha!
2/24/24, 11:05 AM - I've consumed quite a few and Hartford has been at the top of the list. They did incredibly well in a challenging vintage. I also loved the Bedrock Sky Vineyard as a barrel sample but have not opened a bottle yet as I prefer significant age on those. Cheers!
2/23/24, 8:38 PM - I've gotta say my man.....I can understand the thoughts on the SB (although i really liked it), but am surprised about your comments on the reds. Anything in particular that you didn't dig about them?
2/24/24, 5:53 AM - Yep, gotcha! Helpful context and I appreciate it! Cheers!
1/17/24, 10:23 AM - Hi OzzieWine! I hear you, but I can confidently say that you probably don't have to worry about the wine turning to port. I'm not sure if you've had any of Joel's old Ravenswood wines, but many of them have aged REALLY well, and given the winemaking/use of open top Redwood on these O&F's, I would expect them to age in a similar matter. Meaning, the fruit will soften (as it already has a bit here) and inregrate more, but they won't get port-like. That said, if you prefer more fruit/pepper, I would probably suggest drinking soon, as it's already rounded out a bit since I last opened one a couple years ago.And I'm in Phx as well! Cheers!
2/8/24, 3:11 PM - Ooof! Such a bummer! I bet if you reach out to Joel at O&F he'd replace it!
2/2/24, 8:16 PM - LOVE hearing that my friend! Daughter's birth-year and I have a couple maggies in the cellar!
1/31/24, 7:47 AM - Thank you for the great note! Do you think this is ready to drink now or would you hold for a bit?
1/31/24, 8:27 AM - Awesome - I appreciate it! Cheers!
1/24/24, 9:32 PM - I know this is a couple years later....but did you mean to rate this an 82?? Based on your note, it sounds like you enjoyed the wine....but your score suggests otherwise.
1/20/24, 9:22 PM - .....or let it age for 3+ more years before you even think about opening another one. Either way ;)
1/21/24, 6:36 PM - Yep, it seems like you've been suffering through many of these Bedrock and Carlisle zins, so it's good to hear that you stopped buying a while back. IMHO, those two are part of the mount-rushmore of current zinfandel producers and they craft some of the most balanced and often-times structured zins around. So if you're not digging them, I'd probably venture to say that you're just not a fan of zinfandel these days. Nothing wrong with that.....you never know until you taste em! Cheers!
1/20/24, 9:04 PM - Yeahhhh. We'll just go ahead and agree to disagree on this one Chief. While you immediately lost me at 'Young To Kalon', you can't possibly say that this is a great wine right now. Is there upside? Maybe. But while obviously young, the structure doesn't seem to be there for the type of improvement that I'd like to see with a great wine. It's already fairly round and a bit flabby despite the oak still being very evident....which, IMHO, is not a great sign. For context, I've also opened 3 of these. Either way, glad you're enjoying them. No right/wrong (it's wine)....but I'm definitely on the other side of the fence for the time being.
12/28/23, 9:05 AM - Awesome! Thank you!
12/26/23, 8:12 AM - Nice work! Was this a Costco purchase from back in the day? That's where I got mine....and I'm still trying to figure out what to do with it or when to open it, ha! Cheers!
12/26/23, 4:20 PM - Gotta love Costco :) Thanks for the note and the advice on the drinking window! Cheers!
12/25/23, 3:12 PM - Thanks for the note - I agree it's a great wine. Out of curiosity, what temp did you drink this at? I found it was much more expressive as it warmed up some.
12/26/23, 12:00 PM - Gotcha. Thanks for the additional context!
12/26/23, 8:15 AM - Excellent note my friend! Glad you enjoyed it and hope you're having a wonderful Holiday! Cheers!
12/25/23, 3:18 PM - Love it! Excellent note my friend! I might have to decant the crap out of one of these and give it a go. Fortune to snag a couple 3-packs so sounds like I should pop the cork on one! Thanks for posting!
12/25/23, 3:58 PM - Ha ha ha! Fair enough! I've done SO many accidental emojis on WB. That button is literally right where my finger scrolls, ha! Cheers bud!
12/22/23, 2:36 PM - Ha! So wild - I just opened this same rare bottle a few days ago. Sounds like mine was in better shape than yours but pretty cool we popped these around the same time. Cheers!
12/14/23, 1:46 PM - Thanks for this! Have a magnum that I'm planning to hold for some time. Any fear of this going downhill anytime soon?
12/14/23, 1:47 PM - Oh, sorry. Just noticed that your note is from a bottle consumed in 2014
12/10/23, 5:37 PM - Awesome note my man, and I totally agree!
12/13/23, 6:13 AM - I literally just got the notification that my chenin is shipping! I live in AZ so they obviously couldn't ship it this summer. Can't wait to pop one!
12/10/23, 3:08 PM - Like....a 3 day decant?? ;)
11/28/23, 8:17 AM - Thansk for the note! I have to say, I was surprised that you found the wine light bodied and lacking flavor, as that was not my experience at all. In fact, I would call it medium bodied, maybe even leaning towards medium plus, with plenty of flavor....but also lots of acidity which gives it that 'lighter' mouth-feel. No right/wrong here of course and it's always helpful to hear others opinions.....but that's my $0.02 from here in the cheap seats :) Cheers!
11/24/23, 5:07 PM - Do it....it's worth it! :)
11/13/23, 9:38 AM - Thanks for the note and glad you enjoyed it! Just an FYI, most vintages of Insignia will age SIGNIFICANTLY longer than the 3-7 additional years that you referenced. In fact, I'm not planning on checking in on my 2012's for a good 10+ years. For reference, an 01 I had a few months ago was in a good spot but still had miles to go. Cheers!
11/13/23, 11:50 AM - Interesting RayT. There's no right/wrong answer but curious if you're had an aged Insignia from a strong vintage? For my tastes, the oak is too prominent early on and the fruit much too primary....but they do integrate well with time in bottle. Again, just sharing my thoughts/ perspective on the wines. Cheers!
11/13/23, 2:24 PM - Yep, totally get it! Makes complete sense and part of the fun of this 'hobby' is figuring out your own palate and drinking the stuff that resonates the most! Cheers bud!
11/11/23, 3:17 PM - Thanks for the note! Did you mean the Bedrock zins (this Duarte is a Zinfandel :)
11/12/23, 6:47 AM - Gotcha! Appreciate the additional context. Cheers!
11/10/23, 11:49 AM - Ooof! Well that's a bummer! Will hold off drinking mine for a long time and keep my fingers crossed!
11/8/23, 6:39 PM - Amazing, thank you very much for the great note! Mothers birth-year - can't wait to open it with her!
11/9/23, 12:12 PM - Wonderful story. Cheers to you and your friends/family :)
11/8/23, 6:40 PM - 100 points!! I know Joel is the Godfather of zin, but good lord!! ;)
11/7/23, 11:36 AM - Awesome, really appreciate the note on this one! Side note....why am I not surprised that you own one of the 17 other bottles in CT including my own, ha! Cheers!
8/25/23, 8:28 PM - Interesting! For me the 13's have maybe BARELY hit their early drinking windows (zins/blends), so that's surprising that you felt this one was on the decline. It's such a structured vintage for Bedrock and their wines are, to me, taking forever to come around. I'll have to open one soon. Thanks for the note.
9/1/23, 7:24 PM - Ok, I've gotta pop one soon to check in. Last had one a little over a year ago and thought it was just finally entering an early drinking window.
10/12/23, 8:02 PM - Finally opened one, and it was tight on day one but wide open and delicious on day 2. These 13's are structured beasts...and it's Pagani. Hope you two have more bottles!
10/10/23, 7:52 PM - Thanks for the note, but 2 questions. You did like the wine, correct? Sounds like it but the 85 threw me off. Second.....wth is the pickle thing all about !?! I'm so confused!
10/10/23, 10:39 PM - Ahhh, gotcha! Sorry, I wasn't sure because you put in your note 'I acrually like the wine', but it sounds like that wasn't the case (and that aligns more with your score.) Thanks for the clarification. Cheers!
10/5/23, 8:51 AM - Thanks for the note! Was the acid in check? When I had it a few years ago it was painful. Rip the enamel off your teeth kinda stuff. Basically undrinkable.
10/5/23, 12:26 PM - Great to hear! Thank you!
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
