A year since my last bottle and very consistent showing. Hast obviously lost some of the richness. Smooth and silky but aromatically muted. Ultimately cannot entirely hide the hot 07 vintage with some black, burned notes on the mid palate, but clearly well done in the vintage context. Drink now

Fully mature Brunello, drinking very well. I drink a lot of younger Fanti which I always think is a good example of the brunello archetype. That’s true for this older vintage as well.
Medium color with clear age, garnet color
Medium body, still quite a lot of acid and medium tannins. Complex flavor with a lot of herbs, balsamic and licorice but still a lot of dark cherry to complement it. Fairly long finish.

This wine has not moved a bit since my last bottle 6 months. Still surprisingly rich and round, more 2009 than 2007 in style. Very well done by Fanti for 2007 but still not a great Brunello in my eyes. For sure good for another 5 years. 90-91

Almost three years after my last bottle, and I suspect Purple Tooth (just below) had a bad bottle as this wine is by no means old. Pnp. While there is a fair bit of leather already, the fruit is still rich, almost a bit flabby, clearly on the riper side as usual in the 07 vintage but does not go into overripe and bitter/burned tar notes. As per label 15% alcohol but not noticeable heat here, so well done at Fanti! Tannins are soft and round. Finish is medium. A very good 07 BdM in my eyes. Not particularly well delineated but fun and easy to drink now, and good at least for another 4-5 years in my eyes as no signs of oxidization whatsoever. Will it improve? Unlikely. 91-92

Opened for dinner at Condo in Kona. Did not have proper glassware. Wine moderately chilled prior to serving. Ambient temperature was 78. Previously cellared at 56 degrees since purchase from K and L. Brought over on Alaska Air (wine ships free). Upon popping aromas of cherries, leather, and iron. At 30 minutes Smokey meat and berries. At 1 hr plums, patchouli, and root beer. But subtle . Intermittent polished leather ( probably warming up) Palate: SOFT!SOFT! SOFT. Paired with tuna in fresh basil red sauce. PERFECT! Keep on coming back to cherry and plum flavors throughout meal. DRINK NOW. Mild tannins now, but not much tannin left to keep her goin’. Great bottle of wine.

Poured into decanter after a 07 Damoy Chambertin GC and drank over 3h. Following the Burgundy, this seems aromatically very muted. While the profile of the wines evolves positively over about 90 min in the decanter, it never becomes very expressive. Reminds me of a somewhat muted version of the 07 Poggio di Sotto with this wonderfully light, silky and elegant mouthfeel, despite the 15% alcohol as per label. Tannins perfectly integrated. Short to medium finish. Decant 90 min or hold another 3-4 years.

Tasting of 2001, 2007 & 2010 vintages. Decanted the 07 and 10 for about an hour prior to starting, the 2001 about 15 minutes before start. Drank on own and with a Lasagna dinner.
Out of the gate, the 2001 was the clear winner for me, with a surprising amount of fruit and some soft spices giving a nice complexity. The 07 and 10 both were both big and a bit green to start. The 10 probably went best with the sausage lasagna.
Both the 07 and the 10 improved over the evening, indicating a longer decant may have been necessary. In the end, the 01 still held the lead, with a close second for the 10. 2 of the other 3 agreed with me, but 1 had the 07 first and 10 last.

Just drank our first bottle since purchasing in 2012. It takes the wine about an hour to open up. After the wait, this Brunello is impressive. Smooth tannins, silky, good acid balance with plenty of flavors of dark fruits. In the beginning I was a little disappointed in the finish, but after about 90 minutes the finish left you wanting more. It went very well with the pan seared filet mignon with sautéed chopped fresh garlic and cilantro. If you prepare a little in advance this wine will stand alone during cocktails.

Deep red center, red rim with some signs of age. Sweet and fruity nose, cherries and some blackberries, briar, a little tar and tobacco, pleasant greenness Smooth and even a little sweet, cherry compote, good acidity, orange peel and char-sui pork, softening tannins, great length of raspberries and citrus. Very good Brunello, drinking well now but will last another 3 or 4 years.

Surprisingly high acidity right out of the bottle though it becomes more balanced after about a half hour. Light to metium-bodied. This is not a big brunello but it has a surprising, winning energy and vibrancy.

95 Suckling? Wowza! Alright, well, first of 2 for our 8th anniversary dinner at home w/ elevated mac & cheese (caprese w/ heirloom tomatoes, pesto, & basil). Transparent garnet coloring w/ clear meniscus. Enjoyable aromatics of cherry, blueberry, earth, cedar, rose petal, and green pepper. Medium body, acid, and finish, and flavors of black cherry, plum, blueberry, and spice. Enjoyable enough, even though it doesn't come across particularly serious, and while crowd pleasing for sure, I can see where this could also be considered on the lighter, fruitier, more "rosso" end of the Brunello spectrum. Not for the traditionalists, but we'll see what a little more time does on this one. 90-91 nose, 89 or so palate, so I'll score it 90.

Popped and poured. Medium garnet color. No doubt sangiovese characteristics on the nose and palate with this wine. Lots of sour cherry, balsamic, dried herbs and spices. Savory would be the best term to describe this wine. Good acidity with a slight sour cherry finish. Very little detectable use of oak on this wine but it is there in the background. Juicy mouthfeel and nice finish. Excellent QPR for BdM. Would rebuy.

A lot of leather tones, dark and brooding, oaky. It has a welcome subtlety. On the 2nd day, more open, more acidity, lighter structure and some strawberry notes. This is pretty complex with plenty of charm. 93+pts.

Decanted two hours--a necessity at this point--but drank well after decant. Nice floral, cherry nose. Cherry and cedar on the palate, a touch of mushroom. Smooth for a BdM this young. Nice pairing with the veal piccata as created by Beautiful Wife. Might have called this as a really good Chianti, as opposed to a Brunello, but definately sangiovese. 90 points, I can't quite get to 91.

Pretty average for a brunello. Agree it is thin though nowhere as thin as a Pinot. Rusty color, almost like a Nebbiolo, but not really developed. Admit my food pairing was poor (spicy brisket); try again in 9 mos.

My first 07 BdM. Decanted for 90 min and followed over several hours. Ruby with a translucent rim. Flowers, herbs and initially only tart red fruit. Very fine tannins. The massive 15% alc (according to label) are well integrated. Wine improves with longer decant time and with the additional dark fruit on the sweet palate does not seem as traditional in style anymore. Excellent match to Spaghetti Bolognese. Medium plus finish.
PS: Rest of bottle still showing very well with great balance on day 3 91 after 90 min. decant, later 92-93.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2012-09; Italy, Montalcino (By FB): Intense bouquet with beautiful oak, some rustic impressions, autumn forest and earth. On the palate juicy mainly red berries, firm acidity and sticky, slightly drying tannin. Also some oaky flavors and a pleasant touch of sweetness. The wine is still very youthful and will benefit with at least 4 years of ageing. Really good wine. Probably best between 2016 and 2020+. 90+ for today.

Deep ruby but translucent to the eye. Medium strong nose of cherries and strawberries with wisps of smoke and leather. Tart cherry mouthfeel with nice balance followed by a long finish. Light and flowery with an unfiltered feel to it. Didn't develop much after an hour or two.

Putting a little weight on. Dark garnet color. Sour cherry and violets on the mid-palate. decent finish. Not too complicated, but a very nice bottle of wine.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): See through red with orange hues; very nutty, sulfur is strong, cherry, raspberry, dried leaves; fresher and sweeter palate, red cherry, fresh, soft raspberry, sweet and youthful, slight tannin; good focus just in need of more time in bottle.

Nice wine, not particularly complex. Sour cherry, with peppery tones. Pleasant, light, enjoyable.

Very light for a Brunello and didn't show much character. Obviously too young though but I can't see this developing much.

Drank at 410 Bank Street. Liked by all. Somewhat acidic but very nice. Primary. Not the best brunello but certainly worth the $30.

Pretty average for a brunello. Agree it is thin though nowhere as thin as a Pinot. Rusty color, almost like a Nebbiolo, but not really developed. Admit my food pairing was poor (spicy brisket); try again in 9 mos.

Thin representation of what a Brunello should be, closer to a mid range Pinot.

PS: Rest of bottle still showing very well with great balance on day 3
91 after 90 min. decant, later 92-93.

Lovely nose of raspberry and strawberry with some tart cherry. Has a very bright acidity with some cherry cola and raspberry. Soft tannins. Well structured and smooth. Will be interesting to see how this does in 1-2 years, but very drinkable now.

Sommeliers Australia - Brunello di Montalcino 2007 (Quay Restaurant, International Passenger Terminal, Sydney): Medium ruby. Aromas of sweet spice and white pepper, smoked meat and sulphur, slight cheesiness and something slightly metallic. Medium plus tannin, body and alcohol that is generous but intrusive. The flavours of cherry, chocolates and cream are very muted and there is both bitterness and astringency on the long finish. Nah

Deep ruby but translucent to the eye. Medium strong nose of cherries and strawberries with wisps of smoke and leather. Tart cherry mouthfeel with nice balance followed by a long finish. Drinking well with tannins in check. Better than expected given some of the reviews out there. In a better place than other 2007s I have had at this point. Ready to enjoy.

Not quite as good as the 2006 but an excellent wine needing a bit more time in the bottle. Floral notes with strawberry, cherry, herbs, good tannins and a medium finnish.

The Italian Wine Masters (Metropolitan Pavilion): The nose showed ripe red berries with herbal tea and floral notes. On the palate, it showed intense red fruits and herbs that lingered through the finish.
