Lunch Bistro Rex: Deep scarlet red with some bricking. No lack of ripeness to Morot's wines and this is no exception, with ripe black berry fruits and licorice on the nose. Lucious palate, with enough earthy gamey-ness at the finish for balance. Thank you Ray 18.

Cork, 13% alc. Medium red, tending to orange at the rim.
Lovely varietal pinot aroma. A intriguing mix of fruity, floral and sous bois. Raspberry, vanilla, a spicy overtone, and a hint of straw mulch and sweet tobacco. Star anise in the background.
Nice flow through the mouth. Sour edged fruit on entry, kittens tongue tannins through the middle, then finishing clean with a reasonably long raspberry aftertaste.
Opinion: Tidy VFM Burgundy. Seems to have more to give with time. Unlikely to scale the heights to greatness, but an honest wine nonetheless. Holds up well over a week open.

Some age may be detected chromatically. On the nose the earthy aromas are evident, as are the wild strawberries - that also dominate the aftertaste. In the mouth it is supple, good acidity and with good length. A very satisfying wine, and a good representative of its vintage.

Light garnet with a bronze hue. A nose of slightly stewed red fruits and cloves; an elegant wine with good acid upfront following with fine-boned tannins and a touch of leather, attractive red fruit profile. Drinking very well now.

2010 ALBERT MOROT TEURONS BEAUNE 1ER CRU- Blind: vibrant dark purple colour; aromas of dark chocolate laced cranberry and black cherry; the taste is more of the same along with hints of earth, toast and minerals; it was medium to full bodied and had decent length

Improved greatly since previous bottle 2 years ago. Now nicely in balance with lovely blend of big fruit, big but soft tannins integrating nicely. Retry in 3 yrs. very good Beaune 1er Cru.

Cherry, blood orange, game, earthy minerals, and floral spices on the nose. Not as expressive on the palate at this stage. Dusty tannins and nice acidity. Needs 6-10 years, but should be a very nice wine at that point. 91+

The wine is a pale ruby with a higher concentration of color than I expect from Pinot/Burgundy. Viscosity is medium high. High concentration and complexity of aromas. Bright raspberry and cranberry with some oak characteristics in the background. There is so much going on with this I can't accurately describe it with my limited knowledge of aromas and flavor profiles. On the palate the wine is bursting with cranberry and sour cherry flavors. Medium-full body, medium-high acidity, and at this age medium-high tannin with a lot of grip on the finish. The wine is bone-dry. The fruit really shines on this wine without being over-bearing, but I wish the non-fruit flavors would come through more. The oak doesn't really show up so I'm guessing there isn't too much new oak. Overall, I'm pleased with this even if it wasn't what I was expecting.

N: Sweet, dusty strawberries and cherry pits. A warm gravel road. Fresh and vibrant. A hint of barnyard. P: Full on the attack, round and mellow red fruits. Loads of acidity through the mid-palate, but with plenty of sour cherry fruit. Still tight tannins on the long, fruity finish. O: Much improved from the previous bottle 9 months ago. Still not seamless and perfectly in balance, but a great wine none the less. Vibrant.

Bobby Kacher Tasting and Dinner (The Boarding House - Chicago IL): Red and black fruit aromas with a gamy, almost Gevrey-like character. Firm, meaty and powerful, this might be a little backward but also shows good concentration on finish. Needs plenty of time.

C: Light, bright red. Purple and pink towards the edges. Fresh colour. N: A bit of farmyard, damp forest floor, moss. Some red fruit, but quite an acidic nose. A layer of sweetish vanilla on top that isn't quite mixed in with the fruit. A bit of alcohol. P: Very fresh fruit, acidic acidic acidic. Great pinot flavours, but the oak is a bit awkward and the tannins are very tight. Definitely too young, but showing potential. The flavours are there, the concentration is there. If it can all just settle down and smoothen out, this will be a great wine. O: 88 points, but I think a potential for 92 points in 5-10 years. (maybe 3-8 years in the half-bottles).
After 24hrs opened and on the kitchen counter, the tannins had resolved and the wine was beautifully smooth. The fruit held up fine and the wine really came together. The complexity will come with age, and then this will be a fantastic wine!

Consistent with previous notes, cherries and forest floor with loads of acidity. Lovely with food, and a shame I have no more bottles left.
