Lovely Volnay 1er Cru (though I believe the climat "Santenots" is actually located in the North of Meursault) with a just a hint of barnyard, red and black fruit, silky tannins, a crisp, mouthwatering and very juicy style, elegant and classy. Lovely now, but will hold another 5-8 years easily. Excellent value for Burgundy at the 2012 purchase price. - 92 points

Kept under condition 1 since 2014/2015 (see my profile). Color: ruby-purple, rather dark for a Burgundy. Nose: herbal-fruity (thyme), rather faint. The taste was very pure, with cherry. Like other TN-writers mentioned acidity is not the most prominent feautare of this wine. Still a bit of drying, but soft tannins, which I hardly noticed at the first day (with meat), more at the second one with vegetarian food. The keyword for this wine is pureness - of a kind I have not experienced with another red wine before. Very nice! I guess that this wine has upward potential and can be kept for a long time (10+ years from now). Next bottle over five years? 92 for now, potentially 92+.

Medium ruby-crimson in color. An initial burst of earthy aromas settles over 20 mins to reveal dark red cherries, wet leaves/soil, hint of leather & tobacco. Medium-palate shows sweet & savory berry sauce, medium acidity, gently tannins, good acidity and a earthy finish.

Popped'n poured, at home with chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese and apple - really drinking well and a lovely wine. Not sure there were many bad Burgundies made in 2010.

Wonderful. Tasting note is much the same as last time, but the nose now is kind of on steroids. As much as I enjoyed drinking it, I spent a lot of time just inhaling the scents. Really gorgeous.

Popped and poured. There’s a very ripe nose showing loamy, earthy cherry with a bit of oak char/toast. Deep palate, a bit sappy and ripe but with some drying chalky material that lingers. Good.

This is very delicious. Light bodied, smooth, and well balanced. Red berry and cherry flavors, lots of stony mineral flavors, some tea and hints of smoke. Decanted for 5 hours.

Agree with Notes from Soyhead, PGB67 and Stainedglass. Rich but very little acidity to balance. Found it cloying and sweet, more like a big central coast Pinot than a burgundy. Not bad, just not what I expected or wanted.
My first Santenots, which was more muscular, darker and layered than typical Volnay. Dark chocolate, earthy, raspberry and blackberry, spicy tannins and perfectly balanced. Excellent!

Summertime 2019 - Lake House and Arlington: Sappy aromas of raspberry and Chambord, tangy flavors of dark fruit and chocolate with a hard finish of iron and rocks. Concentrated and rich, maybe even hot. But next to the interesting Italian wines, it had me wondering whether Burgundy is worth it …
A private dinner (Restaurant Daalder, Amsterdam, NL): Still very youthful and energetic, nose opens up well after decanting, slightly estery, concentrated blue and black fruit still covers the tannins in flesh, just starts to develop touches of undergrowth and wet earth, ripe but fresh and energetic, balanced and elegant in spite of considerable power and muscle, very good length and very Volnay. Long life.

Nicolas Rossignol nailed the 2010 vintage. In my opinion, he is one of the most underrated producers in burgundy. The wine tonight had lots of underlying spice, herbs, minerals, cherry and dark fruit. Palate was dense and structured wiith lots of grip on the finish. It clearly has a long trajectory for aging but already damn delicious. This is as good as what a superb young volnay can get. Extremely under-valued. Who says there are no affordable good burgundy? Only the label drinkers or the lazy drinkers say so. 92++

Another incredible bottle. This paired great with simply roasted king salmon and zucchini. A little fuller in body than I usually expect from a volnay. The nose is intoxicating - floral and swirling brings out a lot of wild spice that reminds me a lot of chateauneuf aromas. Red berry fruit on the palate, balanced with more of the spice, a lot of earth, and some vanilla notes. Nicely balanced. Long finish. Incredible.

Decanted for 2 hours, a thrilling wine, color deep red, nose dark berries, taste lovely Pinot Noir, nice aftertaste and acid grip, clearly a food wine , still years to come, give it 2-3 years more before tasting.

sweet spices, bright cherry, raspberry, strawberry, a hint of animale, red violets, lovely expressive nose, very nice structure in this, really good, classic. Begin drinking in 2-3 years and may hold for 10+ after that.

Wow. Incredible bottle. Tastes great and smells great. On the nose very floral, red berries, fresh herbs, a little vanilla. On the palate, loads of red berry, bracing acidity, velvety tannins, some soft mineral flavors, and perhaps hints of tobacco.
Was perfect with pork chops a la charcuterie.
One of the best bottles of wine I've had in quite some time.

Amazing. Very tannic still. Cranberry colored - looks just like cranberry juice. Scents of red berry fruits explode from the bottle on opening. Decanted for about 3 hours before drinking. Red berry fruit, soft minerality, hints of smoke. Very, very tasty. Wait about 8 years for it though.

Tart red fruits, sweet soil, and just a dash of funk on the nose. Lively acidity, cranberry, and cherry jump out on the palate, but the texture is by no means thin. Mineral laden and lively, this finishes well with hidden strength in its persistence. Needs a few years to calm down the searing acidity, but excellent elements here.

Rich and full, with ripe red fruit and a touch of wood peeking through, but very cloaked under the fruit, some tension and subtle tannins. Lush, but should improve and reward with some short term aging.

Dense cherry red with orange rim. In the nose, this is very rich and ripe with ripe cherry. Becomes more elegant and less opulent with air. Very dense on the palate, a bit wild still, edgy acidity and tannins, but also that gets better with air. An untamed beast in desperate need of a lot of cellar time. The substance is there.

Bacchus Wine merchants trade tasting (Intercontinental hotel, Macquarie Street, Sydney): Slightly metallic notes, perfumed, red fruit. Spice, little warm, medium plus acid and big tannic grip dominate. On the palate this lacks fruit and is very structured. I would suspect it needs some more bottle age.
