Still solid with nice dark color, rich dry fruit notes, and smoothness.
Bottle was well stored in an underground facility for 10 years. It came from there the day we opened. Decanted for 1.5 hours before 1st glass, 2 hours before second, vacuumed bottle and finished the next night.
We were trying to remember back to the prior bottle we drank 3 years ago, and our recollection is that this was similar to then but with a little more complexity and robustness.
I'd probably recommend drinking this now as I don't see this continuing to improve much more. And if storage is not ideal, it may be peaking. This is our last bottle of this vintage and i wish we had another one to try in a year or so to see if I am right about drinking now ;)

This was fresh and very lively, tasted young still. And it tasted like Lytton without trying to sound ridiculous. Deep purple in color, bright acid, restrained black and blue fruits, a hint of mineral. Slow ox for a few hours before getting into it seriously. It showed little development from initial taste to first glass hours later. That’s okay though as this was a pretty drink.

5.5 years later and we finally drank our last bottle. The overt rusticity was gone with resolved tannins and a fair bit of sediment. Full bodied, but not complex. The wine has resolved itself, but I don’t think this is getting better. Drink up.

With home-made sausage pizza. Opaque ruby, deep to the rim. Decanted 45 minutes before serving (thanks to CellarTracker notes). Dark fruit (cherry, raspberry), spice. Balanced acidity, tannin, fruit. Stood up well against the heat of the sausage. Unfortunately our last bottle of the vintage.

Really very good. I agree with the review from BHRH, though I think it will likely drink well for another 10-15 years. Got better 2nd day open. Big bodied, but carries it in balance. Glad to have tried this wine, especially after visiting the vineyard and seeing the gnarly old vines.

Decanted 1.5 hours. A bit of plum, some pepper, blackberry and a bit of grilled meat on the nose. Deep, dark blackberry fruit on the palate with more black pepper, plum and a bit of oak. Good, long finish with very nice tannins and a bit of acidity. Really nice now, but clearly has the structure to last another 3-5+ years. 91+

At first, it tasted high alcohol and very frui forward, but it opened up a bit after decanting. Still a heavy mouth feel and not as much acidity as would have preferred. Decent fruit of cranberry and red raspberry with herbal overtones.

I love the dark plum color of PS. Dark fruit--blackberry, blueberry, black plum--but not too much; Some serious mineral or soil add a nice contrast and complements the fruit. A fairly smooth wine. Although, there are still unresoved tannins that indicate that more years of storage could be rewarding.

Decanted and tasted, this bottle had been in my cellar since 1/2013. A simple rustic PS, dark fruit, oaky and fully integrated. Certainly capable of a few more years on its side but probably best to drink sooner than later.

This was our last bottle. If I was sitting on more, I would try to hold off 2-3 years before opening. It is drinking nicely but is still rather tannic and needs to settle out a bit. Great aromatics though. (92-94)

I had vowed not to open another of these for a couple of years. Mission accomplished, although now I'm 2 years older! One of the sobering ironies of keeping a cellar, I guess. On to the wine...
This left moderate sediment in the bottle when I decanted it. Aromatically, it showed a bit of sulphur that blew off within a few minutes. A bit shy at first, it opens up to reveal the classic PS mix of black and blue fruits with a fair amount of oak (which I happen to like but others might find intrusive). A couple hours later, some tertiary notes of autumn leaves were there in the background, adding interest. Full-bodied and rich with wonderful mid- and back-palate intensity. Tannin is less brutal than before but it's still pretty tongue-clenching. I will hold off another year or two before opening my last bottle, although this definitely has the stuffing to go much longer than that. (92+)
Decanted before drinking. Very dark, dense and viscous wine. My guess is that this needs a longer decant or more time in the bottle. Somewhat unfocused but a big overwhelming mine for my palate. Fruits covered up by tannins. A nice wine but not making me run out and buy more of a more recent vintage and I love Ridge wines.

Very dark. Yasted blind I would have thought it was a Ridge Zinfandel, but darker and more (but manageable) tannin. I'd expected more of a beast but was quite happy with what I got. Drink now but suspect no hurry.

Having cut my teeth on Petite Sirah with Ridge's super 1984 York Creek (with all of it's volatile acidity and foxiness flaws), I have come to expect high extraction and power from any PS of repute.
Tonight I compared a 2006 and this 2010 PS from Ridge. Wow. Ridge has not kept up with the power concept of California PS.
The 2006 was dead-in-the-water...really no life or substance. The 2010 had some life, and was balanced, but offered no focused power. No perceivable extract, some blackberry character, but nothing to keep up with a rich meal.
Perhaps if this were drunk at 3-4 years of life there would be more vitality, but that is NOT what PS should be about. A 10-year-old PS should just be coming into it's own--tons of tannic blackberry velvet should be evident.

Deep dark red full body wine. Good nose followed by broad black berry and cherry fruits with a hint of liquorish. Nice long finish. This wine has been random over the years and it is either just entering its drinking window or leaving it.

Decanted through the an aerator for just .30 min. Innially tart berries, hints of bitter chocolate, evolve over the next 1 hour or so into a complex array of cherries, blueberries, boysenberries, truffles, earth and just enough tannins and acidity to add complexity. Drinking well now with a combination of time and air or drink over the next 5+ years. This is the kind of stuff that made me love vino!

It had been a good 2+ years since I last opened one of these, as I found the wine pretty tannic and closed at release. Opaque dark purple in the glass, with a gorgeous, multifaceted nose of dark fruits accented by notes of coconut, toasted almonds, pipe tobacco, menthol, and the usual Ridge signature of citrus and vanilla spice. The tannin has softened and the wine is very approachable now, but it is still pretty heavy on the tongue. It will make for a stellar aged petite, so I'll try to wait at least another couple of years before opening another of my remaining 2 bottles.

Wow, very surprised. My first Ridge Petite and outstanding. Massive oak and massive fruit - works very well together for a BIG wine. Love it. I'll hunt for more.
Jeebus it's big. Even after 4 days open, it's big. Yes it's got alcohol, and it does show up on the aftertaste. However it's a beautiful wine, if you like full bodied reds. Lots of oak, but what is so impressive is that the oak is secondary to the fruit. Dusty tannins on the mid palate and a drying finish which tells me the tannins need more time. For the money, fantastic.

The Rhone Rangers (City Winery, 155 Varick Street, New York, NY 10013): The nose showed wild berry jam, a hint of vanilla, gram cracker and a bit of forest funk. On the palate, it showed tart red berries offset by a dollop of juicy acidity. The finish was long with dark fruit and revealed a layer of fine-grained tannin, which hung on the palate. This wine needs a few years to come together but should be even better with time.
