Prior bottle was a bit over 13 months ago and the wine has evolved more positively than I expected over that time. Still has that pretty bing cherry note on the nose as well as more earthy red cherry and light spices. Between medium and full bodied and took almost 4 hours to fully open up and come together. Red cherry and some black cherry upfront which are more open and expressive than previously. Builds positive tension through the middle as it adds depth to go with the darker red cherry. The mid-body also seemed more harmonious with the fruit slightly better defined and the tannins and acidity on the backside in better balance. Transition was much improved with no rough spots or dry notes this time; not seamless but much improved. Mineral, spices and earth notes through the finish. I expected it to evolve along these lines, but not to improve quite this much, so it earned the additional point. Drinking well now if decanted for open for at least 3+ hours and warmed from cellar temperature (on the cooler side, didn't show nearly as well). I'll plan to open my next bottle no sooner than Fall 2024, but may hold it longer.

These aged brunellos are difficult to gauge how much air to provide. Opened the bottle from the cellar around 530pm and started to drink at 630pm after a decant. Realized that it needed a lot more decant time. As it barely started to open up and show its characters at 830pm.
Soft leather, blue and red fruit mix (blue berry, cherry), soft tannins, nice medium minus acidity, low sugar. Showed some early stages of tertiary flavors.
Can leave it for another 3+ years.

Poured into decanter and drank over 2h. For once I do not agree with fellow BdM lover RGCM Gananda below, even if we seem to be drinking many of the same Brunellos. I have really enjoyed Nardi's very classic 2006 BdM, and found the 2010 superb on arrival (rated 94), however this 4th bottle from the same 2010 case, confirms a gentle downwards trajectory ever since. Best upon opening in my eyes, when the wine is still showing the red fruit and the delineation of a traditional Sangiovese I so much admired "en arrivage". With time in decanter, the wines softens considerably and the darker fruit becomes more prominent. With that the wine turns pretty mellow and loses this very delineation and typicity. A solid Sangiovese but nothing special. This will mellow further with more bottle age but not improve for my taste. 92 upon opening then going towards 90 - 91. If you put ease of drinking and smoothness over delineation then you can still wait on this BdM, but I will be drinking my last two bottles soon.

Bright red, almost bing cherry mixed with slightly darker, dusky red cherry as well as earth and spice notes on the nose. Nearly full bodied (14.5% ABV) with brighter and rounder red cherry upfront with a light touch of acidity. Mid-body starts to open up, showing both roundness and a touch of depth along with adding some slightly darker fruit notes. Good backbone with both acidity and tannins and mostly in balance with the fruit; just a touch of dryness and a slight roughness on the back. Comes together through the finish with lingering minerals, earth and spice notes. This wine was open for several hours and came together well during that time. I don't see it gaining more complexity with additional cellar time, but it should gain balance and completeness. I'll plan to open my next bottle in Fall 2023.

We brought this to a BYOB pizza place (Lucali in Brooklyn) and it was fantastic. We kept this in my trunk for a couple of hours while it was in the high 30s outside. When we got in to the restaurant we popped the cork and it was served a bit chilly but it did not take away from this fantastic wine. When it warmed up a bit it was filled with lots of dark fruit, blackberry, and hints of leather. This is definitely full bodied - the tannins are still present but at 12 years of age I feel it is in a perfect spot. It has good dark fruit on the palate and a long finish. It is very balanced on the palate, not overpowering but not underwhelming, it was not overshadowed by the pizza and calzone we had. This was a perfect pairing. Overall this is a fantastic wine - would absolutely recommend it for you and if you have it you can drink it now with a brief decant or it will last many more years. Cheers!

Day one, this had the most massive wall of tannins that I have ever experienced in a wine and I have drank some pretty tannic wines. Day two was only slightly better. On day 4 the tannins subsided and, while still tannic, it became pleasant to drink. Strawberries and mulberries on the nose, leather, cherry candy and lavender. Long finish. This needs at least 5 more years of cellar time. 85 on day 1 moving up to 90 - 91 on day 4.
This needed about 45 minutes to show well. Slightly muted nose, fine but noticeable tannins. Red fruits and dusty minerality. Great mouthfeel and decent finish. Would buy again 91--92

Interesting wine. On this occasion, I smell mostly roasted herbs, seaweed, and roses, an unusual combination. Much more roasted tomatoes and bright cherries on the palate. Some dark sesame oil. There is a "dark roast" feel to this wine. It drinks relatively well now, though for me it falls into the "more interesting than delicious" category of wines. It certainly has the stuffing to age for 10 more years.

PnP that clearly need more time in the bottle, and/or a thorough aeration in decanter. Tannins and acids still exuberant; I'd say give this another 2-3 years of rest. That said, it should drink well, if not too excitingly, in the following decade. Med>Med+ typicity, length, and complexity. Good, but too many others that I'd rather be drinking. recommended
Needs at least an hour of air. Oddly jammy ripe nose. Rich chocolate and dense fruit in front, almost like a Napa Cab, but this gives way to typical Sangiovese sharpness and a long tart more Italian finish with lots of secondary notes - cedar, charred meat, aromatic herbs. I wasn’t sure at first but over time this totally won me over.

This was simply excellent Brunello, and drinking perfectly now. Medium light ruby color and mid-weight body. Blood orange, red cherry, orange rind, with well integrated tannins. Balanced and approaching elegance. Drinking well immediately after opening and still vibrant on day 2.

Bottle 2 of 4. Wine had travelled all the way up the cork (!) but did not break through the cap so thankfully, no oxidization. Decanted 90 minutes. Medium ruby, clear in the glass but a bit of sediment left in the bottle. Complex nose of flowers, spice, barnyard, bright red cherry, butter, red fruits, wood, leather, black licorice, and rubber. Palate was a little more simple, very tangy and savoury. M- body, M+ acidity, XD, M tannin. Long finish with some black pepper.
So how does this compare to my first bottle five years ago, in 2015? Some things were the same: colour, acidity, and generally the tannin. But other things were different, especially, fewer primary aromas and flavours and more tertiary. Drinking well now. Given the state of my cork I would advise others to open and enjoy without delay. That said, I will stick to my plan and try my last two bottles in 2025 and 2030, hopefully they have better corks and will still be good!

Another beautiful 2010 Brunello, and back to the form it was showing “en arrivage”. Pnp. Translucent garnet, very aromatic with wood spices and sweet dried fruit, this has this beautiful ethereal lightness combined with very expressive aromatics I only know from top Brunello, if anything there is a touch too much oak / wood spices here but really a wonderful wine with very good length too.
PS: Had put remaining half of bottle in a small PET bottle in the fridge and drank two days later. This usually results in minimal if any evolution if you fill the bottle to the very top. In this case the wine had changed a fair bit, on one hand having integrated the oak, on the other hand having lost entirely the brightness and aromatics that were there upon opening. A solid Brunello now but nothing remarkable. 94 points upon opening, 91 points two days later. A wine that has been showing very uneven since I had it the first time. I guess no harm opening a bottle now and drinking slowly if you have it.

I can still buy this vintage for $108 a bottle. Why would I? A current 2013 vintage costs $45. This is no $100+ bottle. So what is it? It's fulsome, but somewhat one dimensional. Not a great wine, but a good wine, a solid wine. Would I seek it again? No. But am I drinking it now? Yes. My larger issue is that Brunellos don't last that long and I have a tendency to buy them, cellar them, uncork them after a number of years, way past the date I would uncork a wine from another region, and invariably, I feel that I should have uncorked the wine earlier. My bad. Live and learn. Drink more wine :).
At first an aggressive roasted aroma and some alcohol come through. But after some time in the glass the fruit appears and the wine finds balance. Lovely taste with cherries, liquorice, some acidic red berries and herbs. Tannins still very lively.

Transparent medium garnet. The nose shows crunchy cranberry and raspberry, lime peel, tar and tea leaf accents. Silky and surprisingly ripe on the palate, in contrast to the leanness suggested by its aromas. Medium+ acidity, grippy tannins and the finish is long and exudes charm and finesse. There’s enough structure here to last a decade or two.

Pop and pour at a restaurant. Excellent value for a Brunello. Prior note still applies: Classic Brunello color with ruby red with orange tinge. Elegant and fleshy spicy red fruits and prominent but delightfully integrated tannins. Well made and long life ahead but I enjoyed drinking it now.

A bit hard and tannic, but very good, with a long life ahead. Still very primary, inky, unyielding, stone fruit. Interesting that my impressions are at odds with two previous, but perhaps because was drunk alongside a sweetish CA cab and a fully mature 1996 Lafon-Rochet.

Amazing. Tasting blind, I gave up; I didn’t understand what I was tasting. Lots of herbs and seabreeze in the nose, with a core of dried brown figs and dried red cherries. Positively spicy on the palate. Acidity is an afterthought; probably a function of the vintage. Full-bodied yet flowing. Profound.

PnP: Hints of brown, orange and rust coming into the coloring. Nose has some dusty wood, red flowers, red cherry. It's a delicate nose. Palate very alive. Medium body. More red fruit, and I can get some candied cherry. Chocolate near the finish. Pretty high acidity.
Re-visiting after 2 hours of slow ox: Nose is a little more shut. Palate still on fire. Not a huge change in profile with this small amount of air, but the tannins are softer. Impressively balanced wine.
Very enjoyable on night 2 after a vacuum seal.
You can drink now or wait a few / several years and I think it will still be very good.

Audozed for 3hrs. Pours a deep reddish purple in the glass. This is a big wine with the nose and palate showing almost brooding notes of very ripe cherry, plum, lavender, baking spice, and hot dry earth and new leather. Some herbaceous tobacco with time. Midpalate is full and velvety textured with soft tannins and round acid making this very approachable and in a great drinking window right now. Medium (+) and pleasure giving finish.

Was decanted for numerous hours before being enjoyed, and I don't think that this could have been enjoyed any other way. 2010 was a nice powerhouse year, and this one was firing. Dusty black cherry, cocoa, and cola. Medium density and bodied wine. I was really loving this wine tonight, and seemed to pair very well with most of the food offerings. I think this one was top 3-4 wine for me of the night. Really awesome lineup!

This is a stunning wine. Dense, ripe dark berry fruit with cloves, herbs, and big oak overlay. There is a bitter, brooding aspect to the personality, but at least for now that's masked by the sweet dark fruit. Really intense and mouth-coating with serious tannins. Approachable now. Should be better with age, but I wonder whether it will become medicinal and unfriendly.

P: Med, poss MF, body; Almost swtish frt on front, then astringency kicks in, largely resolving by the long, dustily tannic finish; Could stand several yrs of cellaring for most palates, I'd suspect.

P: MF body; Almost swtish frt on front QUICKLY turns puckery, this slowly resolving by the LONG, dustily tannic finish. Found this bottle to be delicious. Color was medium garnet. Lots of ripe dark cherry, plum, and the classic dried leather in the mouth. Quite juicy for a Brunello, but there are some smooth tannins lurking on the finish. Overall impression was of a wine to drink now or hold, and one that could be served with a variety of winter meals.

This wine considerably improved with air. Decant or hold. While E didn't think it deserves much of a note ( she found it nipply), I beg to disagree. Nose - Erica gets raisins , ok here I concede. And dark plum. And lots of dark berries which have been soaking in brandy. A tad alcoholic nose Mouth - actually quite powerful and expansive, really impressive plum, dark cherry, maybe even beet. Great midpalate with juicy acidity and long tannic finish. Currently it needs a piece of meat otherwise it overwhelms. Impressively young. Huge potential. This wine nicely showcases the hype on 2010 Brunello. And watch out for the sediment.

The WOTN in a blind tasting. Should be higher scores in a few years. Gave it a 10 hour breather. This is a big wine, very smooth ample tannins giving a big frame. Very well built, hints at so much in the bottle. Would wait a few years but then, expect the vintage hype may be fulfilled.

Still a bit tannic and not fully integrated. Definitely needs more time and should gain a point or two. Bit on the 'hot' side due to the 14.5% alcohol. Can taste the potential here but not quite arrived.

Poured into decanter and drank over 2h. dark ruby / light garnet with translucent rim, a bit thin upon opening needs a good 1h to gain weight and somewhat integrate the abundant oak (and also some vanilla) this is showing at this young age. Plenty of herbs and wood spices combined with bright and more red than dark fruit. Smooth without any intrusive or hard tannins. Medium (+) finish. This has potential but needs a few years in bottle to absorb some of the oak. Not as convincing as in the "arrivage" tasting earlier this year. 92+

High toned, sweeping nose of savory cherries upon open. This is clearly very young, but, on the palate there are nascent, secondary notes forming of sage and deep medium red fruit. A strong tannic backbone carries it down to an extended finish. Good stuffing with lots of room to improve.

Brunello di Montalcino 2010 - 30 top names of the vintage (Singapore): Medium-light brick garnet color pointing to a classic offering already. Expressive nose of herbs, autumn leaves, mint, clay cherry, nice and complex with excellent typicity. On the palate the wine is medium- bodied, with a herbal dry (but not drying) touch, classic Sangiovese front to back. Good aromatic intensity and length. A very convincing, classic BdM food wine with good QPR.

First of four bottles. P&P. Medium ruby in colour. Lovely nose of strawberry, vanilla, caramel, and spice. Palate was much less expressive (some cherry). High tannins, although they mellowed after 1.5 hours. M+ acidity, M+ finish. 14% alcohol, 8g/L residual sugar. I have three more bottles -- looking forward to trying again in 2020, 2025, and 2030.

Dark reddish garnet in color. Forward, attractive and fragrant nose of youthful ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plummy with earthy & dried herb overtones, floral notes of roses, dusty, minerals, some cocoa & vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of smooth textured, balanced, youthful, ripe red fruit flavors of sweet cherries, blueberries & plums with earthy notes, herbs, dusty, dark cocoa, minerals & vanilla. Lingering finish. Quite forward at present as it drinks quite well currently with decanting and airing and will develop and benefit from additional and needed aging.

Mouth - actually quite powerful and expansive, really impressive plum, dark cherry, maybe even beet. Great midpalate with juicy acidity and long tannic finish. Currently it needs a piece of meat otherwise it overwhelms. Impressively young. Huge potential. This wine nicely showcases the hype on 2010 Brunello. And watch out for the sediment.
