Plumb, blackberry & cranberry, with a touch pepper, woody herb and a faint hint of leather. Definitely not over the hill, but I don't see it getting much better from here. There is a small amount of acidity that is keeping it on the fresh side. Better with food, but still tasty without. No need to decant, but I do recommend using a strainer if you have one, as there is a lot of sediment.

How good is this! It’s a complete wine. So beautifully balanced between sweet and savoury. A dance between raspberry, black olive and black pepper on the finish. Took about 2 hours of air to find its true expression. Fortunately I have one more bottle.

Almost very dark. Roasted meat and black pepper on the nose- totally Syrah. Good concentration of tart black and red fruit in a light to medium body. There is no fat on this, it is crisp and firm. Very enjoyable today and probably for many more years.

A lost in the cellar bottle that I somehow forgot to add to my inventory when I purchased it. It was sitting in the bottom row of a large wine fridge with the white wines and I stumbled upon it a week ago. I brought it to a dinner at an Ethiopian restaurant in NYC with my wine group. Right away the nose was very appealing, but the taste was muted and dull. It really took a while to open up, but after an hour it was very good. This was a real surprise as I don't remember being impressed with my previous bottles of Granit 30. On the palate, notes of violet, earthy minerals and some undetermained fruit flavors.

Much improved from 2-3 years ago. Was more austere back then, and nothing to write home about. Just another red bottle from France. *Had open for about five days now. Really drinking quite well. Since I last enjoyed this back in September 2014, there’s been significant development. Medium ruby core with a garnet rim. Now mature, tertiary notes lead: autumn leaves, tomato leaf, rocky minerals, stewed plums, cooked raspberry, dried cherry, olive tapenade, cooked meat, and iron. Structure is well in tact with acidity and tannin showing up on the solid finish. Unlikely to improve with further cellaring, drink though 2024.

Drank over several days. Opened with air showing violets, cherries a touch of stems, a bit of floral lift and a savory note on the scent. I think this will keep, but not sure it will improve at this point.

Initially, it was fairly primary and fruit-forward with a hint of backend tannins. As it sat open, the fruit receded and leathery notes took the foreground. There were also green olive notes that complemented the other flavors. Altogether delicious, still with plenty of life ahead of it. Not the most complex bottle of Syrah to cross my path, but plenty of enjoyment in this bottle, especially with the roast venison loin that we served it with.

No formal note, a little on the thinner side from what a Cornas can deliver but then that is not a big step down, syrah from this region is usually good quality.

Quite good. I had just had a 2011 Granit 60, which was stunning. I wish I could get more of that! Not surprisingly, this is not in the same league, but it is available and at reasonable prices. Compared to, say, some of the better Ojai syrahs with 10 or more years of age, the Paris Granit 30 is slightly rougher with a bit less fruit intensity. Nevertheless, very good, and it will likely develop nicely over the next several years.

90-91; excellent nose of tar, dark blue plum, blueberry, burried cracked pepper and earth tones; med weight, good tangy acidity, classic and nicely done for 2011 without any brett or funk, but still appealing earthiness and asphalt-tar notes. coravinned for a tasting, can't wait to pair with some BBQ ribs or steak.

In a great place - nicely resolved since last tasted in '16. Classic Cornas. Nose of limestone and red fruit. Weightless on the palate with great acidity and a long cranberry like finish. Paired perfectly with smoked beef brisket -- the fat nice backdrop. Guess 10+ years of life.

Enticing, exuberant nose of dark fruits, cooked meat and a hint of sweetness. More of those dark fruits in the mouth. Decent-length finish with a bit of grip to it. Does feel slightly disjointed at present, but still drinking pretty well. Think I'll finish of the 2009s before I have any more of the 2011s.

Way too young to drink at this time, but great potential. Decanted and tasted along with many wines at Wine Watch Friday Happy Hour.. This Cornas has a very deep, dark, purple color and a nose of black and blue fruit, leather, and olive juice. It tastes rich with layers of fruit, cassis, ripe blackberries, sour cherries, and tart raspberries. There are also savory elements, smoke, and cracked pepper. This wine is moderately complex with a nice mouth feel, and a lengthy finish. It’s a bit disjointed now and needs at least 5-10 years of cellar time to smooth out and mature.

Nice medium weight Syrah. Still pretty young in colur with no bricking and a vibrant plum colour. Nose is pretty intense after some airing. Black plum and cherry fruit with notes of meat, smoke and tar. Medium weight, medium tannins, juicy acidity with currant and plum fruit, with black pepper and dry currant on the finish. Excellent and very tasty.

Classic Northern Rhone stinkiness (not too much) on the nose is inviting. It has pleasant dryness and good acidity with high toned blackberries, game, and gentle curry spices. Really light on its feet, this should be great with food. It is old world in style.

Poured into a decanter and poured a glass. Dark crimson with slightly translucent edges; medium bodied. Big aromatic, terroir inspired aromas of smokey asphalt, stony minerals, sweet violets, dried plums, dark cherries, and spicy berries, all underscored with some herbal earthiness and chewy meatiness. Surprisingly approachable for a young Northern Rhone displaying a great balance, deep flavors, a solid structure, and lively acidity. Very nice, long, full finish. A pleasant surprise, and a very serious wine. This is built for the long haul.

Good stuff but glad I read the TNs. I decanted for 6 hours. Color on the pale side of ruby. At first, the nose was tight and even after the full decant it wasn't that generous. As noted by others, this isn't rustic or complex, but it is elegant, which was rewarding. It complemented the Middle Eastern spices we had in dinner very well. I'd definitely pick up another bottle.

Aromas of red fruit, spices and slight floral note (violets). The palate is smooth, silky with supple cherry/raspberry fruit but fresh. This is not a blockbuster and some what simple at this stage. An accessible Cornas without any rusticity but worth the price.

4th Saturday Group. Tasted blind. One of my contributions. This was not giving much. Green notes with astringent tannins was about all I got from this. The green notes had me guessing South American cab - wrong again. My one remaining bottle will be forgotten for some time in hopes of something coming through. Half the bottle remains, so I will revisit on day two and see if anything developed overnight.

This is a pretty good release of the Granit 30. Although it's obviously come from a cooler vintage than either 2009 or 2010, I think this is more complex and refined.
Ruby red/purple colour. Blackberries, blueberries, smoke, meats, blood and flowers on the nose. There's a great balance of sweet and savoury in the mouth - blackberry, blueberry, meats, minerals, pepper and spice. Medium bodied, complex and fine, mouth coating tannins. Maybe could have just a bit more fruit density. Should age a treat.

a young, but wonderful Cornas (syrah) tried over two nights, and a good value at $30 from Garagiste. Cornas and N Rhone syrahs always great with age, but more and more I enjoy them equally well fresh and vibrant, when made traditionally and not over oaked. Go neutral!
Classic incredibly inky dark purple Cornas color Very expressive nose, night one the classic celery salt, night two more black fruit. Slight game, smoked meat, spice, slightly floral. Wonderful. On the palate its has bright black fruit, excellent acidity, wonderfully balanced. Mid palate is mouthwatering and complex, with a long, lingering pleasing finish, modest tannins that don't overwhelm at all. Bring me some lamb! 13% alc.

2nd of 6 and showed considerably better than the 1st which wasn't difficult as 1st was flawed. Decanted and drank over the course of three (3) evenings. Dark purple in color. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, tobacco and lavender on base minerality. Well structured tannins with medium acidity. Day 2 - Fruit forward now as floral notes have diminished. Drinking nicely.

Black plum and cherry fruit with notes of meat, smoke and tar. Medium weight, medium tannins, juicy acidity with currant and plum fruit, with black pepper and dry currant on the finish.

Cornas and N Rhone syrahs always great with age, but more and more I enjoy them equally well fresh and vibrant, when made traditionally and not over oaked. Go neutral!
Classic incredibly inky dark purple Cornas color
Very expressive nose, night one the classic celery salt, night two more black fruit.
