Good colour. This has definitely softened in recent years. Now medium bodied in a modern style with good acid. I suspect the fruit has faded but I really enjoyed where this was at. 14.5% ABV. Drink remaining bottles over the next year or so.

Drunk for dinner with duck rillettes. 14.5%. Dark, opaque, black ruby. Hints of pepper and spice, stewed black fruits and fallen over-ripe plums trodden into the earth. Moderate length and good acidity. Clearly well made in a "New World" kind of way, however, slightly heavy going for my palate. Best enjoyed by the glass rather than bottle. Still going strong, so no rush.

Medium deep colour. Still purplish. Nose of blueberry and bubblegum. Slightly gooey impression, but on the palate just more than medium weight, not especially concentrated, and rather dominated by hard acidity on the finish. Not unenjoyable if you look past the faults, but I'm not sure there is much cellar upside.
Loved this wine upon release and its lived up to expectations in my cellar. Big fruit but I find it nicely judged. Slight aged character starting to appear. Really opens up well after an hour and then holds well. Good acidity and sufficient tannin lead to a good length finish. Will cellar further but getting really enjoyable now if like me you enjoy high fruit. Will tackle high flavour food. Great.

Very australian. Not a screw open and pour wine (still prefer corks). Needs time to breathe/blow off some alcohol and tannins. Dense hues, vibrant purple fruit, relatively complex. Has that Oz back of the tongue heat going up the nasopharynx that I could do without. Otherwise a good bottle.

Deep ruby with browning on the rims. Med intensity on the nose. Stewed black plums, ripe black cherries, soy sauce, black pepper, leather, tobacco, mocha. On the palate dry with medium acidity, very fine integrated medium tannins. Body is med(+). Alcohol high. Flavour is med (+) and palate has savoury dark berries, plums, liquorice, earthy. Finish is med (+). Quality is very good, well-balanced, good length and good complexity. Wine appears to be in optimum drinking window.

Second bottle, and what a turnaround! I thoroughly hated the first, thought it was jammy, almost sickly. Either my taste buds were having an off day, there's some bottle variation, or the passage of time has worked wonders, but it was lovely last night. Well balanced and far fresher than I remember, the textbook Shiraz notes of Blackberry and white pepper on the finish are all there, together with an almost burgundy sous bois earthy undercurrent. Sorry Mr Glaetzer!

I was looking forward to this, but ended up agreeing with @kwaky (27/11). The good new is that it's rich and concentrated, the bad is that there's little acidity to balance that out. Didn't get the white pepper on the finish I love about the grape, either.

Popped and poured for a Scottish thanksgiving dinner (amongst other wines.) frankly I didn't like this at all. It is a massive, overly extracted brute of a wine. In the glass it's dark red/purple which reveals itself on the nose and palate. Lots of pencil shavings and forest fruits on the nose. But the palate is something different, buckets of fruit that leave your mouth puckered like having taken a hit from a boxer. I could barely manage my glass and didn't grab the bottle for a top up.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2015-07; Syrah/Shiraz world wide (By HV): In the bouquet concentrated dark berry fruits, herbs and spices, toast and mint. On the palate dark forest fruits as well, chocolate, eucalyptus, a firm dose of good oak, good acidity and tannin. Concentrated and well balanced wine with a good length. Very early maturity now and around 2020 probably a bit better. 90+

WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Deep purple colour. Nose: The nose is Clean and Youthful, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry, black plum and secondary aromas of vanilla, cloves, toast, cinnamon. Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium Ripe/Soft tannins and a High Level of alcohol (14.50%). Very dense and fully opaque extracted black-red color with subtle youthful purple highlights. The opulent nose is very powerful and obviously very ripe with concentrated and dense aromas of tarry smoke, menthol, very ripe dark berries, some blackberry jam, overripe sweetness, a little bit of vanilla and a hint of whisky oak. The wine is extremely full-bodied, rich and inky on the palate with bold flavors of overripe dark berries, peppery spice, juicy boysenberries, some jammy red fruits, a little bit of sweet oak spice and a hint of alcohol. The wine feels moderately tannic, but the mouthfeel is rather soft and a bit flabby due to the modest acidity. The finish is warm, rich and powerful with pronounced peppery spice, some smoky oak character, a little bit of jammy dark fruits, a little bit of sweet blackberries and a touch of tannic grip, lending a somewhat coarse touch to the aftertaste. The alcohol makes the aftertaste end on a rather hot note.
A very big - well, massive - Barossa Shiraz with a lot of everything and then some. For a blockbuster Barossa Shiraz this is a quite impressive wine, but overall for a red wine this is just way too sweet, hot and oaky to suit my taste. Although the firm tannins give the wine some sense of structure, the relatively low acidity makes the wine feel very dull and ponderous. A glass of this might go down with something very hearty to chew on, but anything more would be overkill. Perhaps the wine might turn out better if it lost some of its baby fat with age, but I wouldn't hold my breath. At 34€ I'll pass.

Dark garnet, full bodied. high alcohol Dark fruits, plums, some all spice, chocolate, leather off the nose Tastes like the nose would indicate, mouth filling powerhouse, some acidity, faint tannins, stand alone easy drinker. Dark cherries, juicy.

Not decanted. A lot of fruit, quality, and complexity for the money. Rich, textured black fruit, plum, blackberry, mocha, (wood) spice, and some clay topsoil. Big and juicy as Glaetzer's wines are, but they all have amazing oak treatment. This wine is heavily oaked, but the manner in which it's done is impressive. The spiciness has a nutty, smoky, almost sensual nuance to it, and the mocha/coffee pairs perfectly with the dark Shiraz fruit. Drink now-2022.

Good length of flavor, not a Shiraz the flavors of which suddenly drop off the cliff. Some herbal notes but this is mostly a rich and inviting fruit bomb with more structure than most of its Barossa brethren in the $25 price range.

The colour is a slightly blackish crimson red. On the nose, the aroma is of unsweetened blackberry purée with a whiff of unsweetened mocha. The nosefeel is light and fleeting. On the palate, tart blackcurrant is the principal flavour, with hints of leather and red-eye café americano. Niether the nose nor the flavour is overwhelming, but they are roughly in balance. As a young wine, it does not have quite the same subtlety of blended-flavour complexity as it may acquire over the next ten years or so. In short, not as good-n-fruity as Glaetzer's Amon Ra, his best Barossa Shiraz. But that is a high standard to meet. $38. May buy again to be gifted at the holidays to the uninitiated in Barossa Shirazes. Overall value: 4 stars of 5. Excellent (89.5).

Nose and palate similar here: Blueberry, some tartness, a bit of anise, new leather, menthol / eucalyptus. Full bodied but a little thin mouthfeel. Wouldve guessed McLaren Vale here. Its really good, but think it will be better with a few years of age. 89+ pts.

Upon PnP, nose of tart cherry, ripe blueberry and some new leather. Not terribly distinctive or especially hedonistic as one notices with other Barossa Shiraz. Palate is juicy and expressive, still some tart fruit including the blueberry, eukalyptus with soft tannins. Lacks the round full mouthfeel at this stage, but should come with age. Upon double decant, the major difference is a bit more mint and slightly fuller mouthfeel. 89 for now. Give 3-4 yrs and try again. Expect 90+ Edit: on day three (screw cap, no vacuum, room temp) this really developed into something nice. The juicy palate calmed down some to give a deep, velvety fruit that was more restrained and complex.

Purple colour with wide rim, the nose is clean, medium intensity & youthful with lots of red fruit , tomato bush, plums &spice. On the palate it has closed fruit of plums, currents, jam, and spice box cinnamon. Acidity is medium, tannin medium minus, medium plus body and alcohol. With a long finish. A very good wine, Ready to drink, can improve and open up?, drink now to 2 years?

Brilliant crimson colour, almost purple. Rich fruit nose. Soft and full mouthfeel, with lingering rich fruit on the palate. A big, warm red wine that is soft and full flavoured. A young wine and that has the structure to age nicely for some years.

Nice simple nose of black fruits and meaty leather. Big but balanced with nice pure black fruits and dark chocolate on the palate. Good grip and a nice supple mouthfeel.
