A few of the rough edges are reduced but much like 5 years ago. Dense, ripe, and hot. Nice mint, cassis, prune, charred meat notes, but the 15% alcohol adds some harshness.

This is a very interesting wine, but have had some quality issues with maybe corks. When I purchased this wine in 2015, It definitely needed some rack time. So I put it on the shelf. I generally try to put most of the reds I buy on the shelf for 5 to eight years. For the bottles that have survived, I would rate at 93+ for the others, I poured them out. At this point I have poured 2 of 10 bottles out. The bottle we consumed last night was beautiful, with soft tannins and a delicious medium long finish. If I hadn’t had the spoiled bottles, I would say from last nights bottle that it had at least another three years on the shelf. Instead, I f you have this on the shelf, I recommend consuming soon.

A boldly aromatic, New World style wine with aromas of ripe plum (almost plum sauce), licorice, herbs and mushroom. The palate is lively, with fresh acidity and velvety tannins. The finish is long and tapers out with a note of dried fig and black tea. 55% Grenache / 45% Syrah. Produced exclusively for the American market.

FWS Languedoc Roussillon Class 2020; 7/14/2020-7/15/2020: Not a bad wine, everything is technically right on it, but tonight it was my least favorite. Fruit driven with a little mineral edge. But just so clean it was kind of boring. In no way offensive, but also not exciting

Nice nose, blue fruits, a little licorice and a little pepper. Fairly rich, with a decent finish, but it was quite one-dimensional. Few, if any clues as to what it is or where it's from. Pleasant and a very good value. Probably time to drink up.

Not sure how I came across this bottle. Interesting nose of garrigue, subtle dark fruit, flowers, and licorice. Fairly massive fruit bomb, dark fruit and finish in an international style, could be from anywhere; 15% alcohol. Overall, meh, but not bad when you're in the mood. Paired well with red wine braised beef short ribs with gnocchi.

Has lost a little vibrancy since last tasted ten months ago. Still nice nose - black 'n' blue fruits plus a little charcoal. May have gained some heft and viscosity, but the fruit is less in-your-face. Quite rich, with an excellent finish for a wine in this price range. Still a terrific value, but it may be headed downhill.

We've had many bottles over many vintages of what is usually a stellar Rhone wine blend (OK, it's Languedoc, but they are Rhone varietals). This one tasted a little "off" both the first and second night, so I am thinking it might be a slightly-flawed bottle or lesser vintage year. Have another bottle, so we will give it another try. Normally, this is a 88-90 for us and goes well with food, this one fell short...no depth, hard to pick out the varietals, a bit flat, maybe old? Again, we'll try another bottle.
Popped and drunk over 2+ hrs. Inky purple color. High-toned, perhaps the slightest bit a VA and a touch hot. Cassis, black raspberry, violet and blackberry jam aromas. The VA note blows off. Picks up a nice white pepper spice note. Medium tannins are fine and sweet. Flavors of black raspberry, chambourd, blackberry and plum. Hints of vanilla in the finish. 90+ pts. I wish I had saved two or three to follow over the next two to ten years.

Reds from S. France (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Likely, 65-80 yr old Grenache (55%?) & 45 yr old Syrah (45%?) from "...the limestone-rich terroir of Saint-Drézèry in the eastern Languedoc," probably fermented & aged in concrete tanks for 12 mos.
N: Smoke atop berry jam; Some pyrazines?
P: Med, poss MF, body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly, pretty much irons itself out by the LONG finish with fairly unoffensive, dusty tannins. Deserves another 6-12 mos, then drinking into '20. Nicely done! 92+ pts RJonWine (4/28/17). [As of late Mar '20, wine-searcher still shows 2 sources @ $19 & $20].

A fabulous example of the great values coming from Languedoc. Dark ruby hue that opens with ground herbs de Provence and red fruit aromas. Medium/full-bodied with black cherry and star anise flavors. Great acidity/fruit balance with a lingering note of cured meat on the finish. Excellent QPR.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. On opening and pouring it was a little tight and subdued but pleasant. After a few minutes in the glass it began to open up with more pronounced fruit. After half an hour it was lush and round with a good mouth feel and nice finish that was not overly dry. A nice drinkable mid-week red, good value for the price. I will go back and buy more.

Incredible work of chemistry. This wine ticks all the boxes, hammering the edges off a perfectly enjoyable southern red so that the square peg fits neatly into the round hole of international formulae
Perfectly enjoyable, great house wine. Nothing you can complain about; great technique, a wine that works with steak, chicken, pork and cheese, and occasionally reveals flashes of tar and mineral for somebody looking for the real south
Brilliant marketing; anodyne, inoffensive product that will fit anywhere and mean nothing. Made to a formula

Wow, what a knockout wine for $13! Lush, southern French blend that teeters on overblown fruit-bomb, but pulls it back at the end with savory complexity. Silky, ripe tannins and a real BBQ wine if ever there was one. Very delicious – will buy more.

Second bottle wasn't nearly as good. The smell was fine. No funky odor...a nice aroma. The first 2 seconds were OK, then couldn't put my finger on what I was tasting, but it had a very odd finish (ie something bitter mixed with something rotten), which was amazing given the first was a very good bottle. Its possible it had a slight fault to it, but it didnt tasted corked or heat damaged. Something was awry. Other guest seemed to like it fine, and wanted a second glass...I asked her opinion, and she thought it was OK.... tasted less fruit in the second bottle, and something mysterious. Disappointing variation from one bottle to the next. I have 2 more. Curious as to where those will take the taste

What a nice wine for such a low pricepoint. I paid $20 delivered. Very solid QPR. I heard the 2013 vintage was better than 2012. It is definitely worth having a few bottles around in case of a party emergency.

This was better than I expected it to be and now I wish that I had bought a bunch at Costco when I had the chance. Fairly rich black fruit (blackberry and plum) and a smoky character. As others have said, not all that complex, but tasty and enjoyable.

I'll actually agree with the advocate on this one.
big fruit, approachable structure, and fair price point. Made for drinking now.
nose is more subdued than the palate with brambly black fruit, tangy garigue, chalky soil and something briney.
fuller side of medium bodied with friendly acidity and mouth coating black fruit. not stewed or candied but plenty ripe. blackberry preserves, sweet plum, and cool blueberry pie(crust and all) lingers on the tongue.
admittedly very extracted and "new world," in style, but there are some interesting aromas of saltwater toffee, sweet bbq smoke, black coffee and menthol.
I've enjoyed this more than other highly acclaimed ~$20 Languedoc reds. safe and easy, but with enough depth to make a great value for fans of the style. Drink now or over the next few years. Not built for the long term.

Decent sipper. Big fruit, showcasing plum and a hint of boysenberry, finishing with some licorice and also a touch of eucalyptus (the latter of which I associate more with South Aussie reds). Not the most complex wine on the planet, but pretty much what I'd expect at this price point.

The differences in the reviews of this wine are unusual. The bottles are labeled with a Robert Parker sticker that says "RP 93". I looked it up before purchasing and indeed the RP rating is 93 and very complimentary. The bottle that I drank was excellent, dark red, full bodied, floral aromas, rich fruit, nice tannins, but not astringent. Definitely a Rhone style fruit bomb. I am wondering if there is variation among bottlings of this wine that lead to the differing opinions? I will go along with the professional rating. And buy a few more bottles.

Rather astringent at first, softened quite a bit with air. Old world style. Nice fruit and minty notes with mouth coating finish. I liked it and it was well priced. Judging from other notes I think there might be some bottle variation here.

What happened Eric Solomon? This is the first value wine I've had that did not live up to the reputation of his portfolio. This wine is highly extracted, out of balance and not really pleasant to drink. These bottles taste nothing like Jeb Dunnuck's reveiw. based on 4 bottles tasted, 4 different occassions.

Had high hopes. The rosé was so good. But this is a bit bitter. Restrained floral nose. Bell pepper on the palate. Probably faulty. Tastes wet but doesn't smell off.
Second bottle was much better. Still not a lot of stuff going on. Boysenberry and plum on the nose. Still some green notes on the palate. Light bodied.

Disappointing variation from one bottle to the next. I have 2 more. Curious as to where those will take the taste

Highly extracted, with loads of syrupy, toasted vanilla and mocha flavor notes. Felt very unbalanced and spoofy.

What a nice wine for such a low pricepoint. I paid $20 delivered. Very solid QPR. I heard the 2013 vintage was better than 2012. It is definitely worth having a few bottles around in case of a party emergency.
Agree with the review below. Had a smokey characteristic and I tasted the blackberry.

2nd bottle... terrible... I think it was corked or otherwise flawed... nothing like the first bottle which was very good.

Judging from other notes I think there might be some bottle variation here.

sleek, and somewhat funky (in a good way). rustic. really enjoyed it. prior reviewers must have had flawed bottles, but I will try my 2nd bottle in a week or so to validate this. great value to boot.
