Very fine Chablis. Oyster shells and crushed rocks, rich fruit and bright acidity. There’s a lot of complexity here, with some very subtle oxidative notes. I wouldn’t hold these bottles much longer personally, while this is lovely right now, I’d worry that it could take a turn in the wrong direction in the not too distant future.

Tasted blind. Crushed stones and white flowers on the nose. Very tight, good acidity, but still young. Oak is noticeable and not fully integrated. Great structure. Will be better in a few years.

Starts out with reduction and darker gold colors but with air both change. The reduced notes slowly dissipate and the color changes to a medium yellow quickly. This is a dense, structured wine. It is clearly Chablis with the mineral, salt and sea but it also has some deep fennel notes, lemon peel and jasmine. Not as perfumed as some vintages. I really think this is good and suspect it will last longer than some of these other notes suggest. It is just burlier and less elegant than some.

We've been opening a bottle a year of this vintage over the last few years but if I can, will try to hold off 2 more years until the next bottle ... This was double decanted and followed over 3 nights and it showed best on nights 2 and 3. A bit doughy at first but over time showed a promising mineral extract density with starchy chardonnay fruit and lemon. Good cut and tannins. This won't be at peak at this rate for a few more years, so hold them in a cold place if you only have a few ... Rating: 92+

Super refined with a hint of white flowers and exotic fruit, mildly stony, ripe citrus and a fantastic persistance; everything is so in balance that I suggest to enjoy this wine soon.

We were all guessing Puligny and bigger burgundy when tasting it blind. It wasn’t chalky or mineral like chablis typically is.
Super Aromatic, deep developed exotic fruit flavours with nice oak integration. Honey, yellow fruit and a silky oily texture in the finish. Absolutely superb wine!
My last bottle? If, so, it was a terrific one, with fresh white fruit, violets, stony and with a whiff of vanilla; the tast was super fresh, concentrated not bone dry, and that all, a long and balanced finish included, suported by a ripe and very fresh citrus. Beware, the second day the wine showed a point less, so take this 2013 now, it is not made of iron.

91-92 pts

Different compared to the last one some months ago: any oiliness has gone along with the hint of exotic elements. This one is very straight, salty, iodine, mainly lemon and some white orchard fruit. Again a kind of Dauvissat miracle. Would drink it over the next 5 years.

Absolutely spectacular. Probably the best bottle of La Forest I’ve had.
Opened at 3:00 and slow oxed for a few hours. Had with Wellfleet oysters and scallops in Wellfleet around 6:00 pm. Continued to open. In my prior note in 2020 it was a bit tropical but not now. Laser sharp precision with deep minerality yet mouth coating and layered with excellent length. Last glass at 7:30pm, is, of course, the best — still on the ascent but no more to be had.

Le Lavandou/Bormes 2022-Summer holidays: Cent pourcent chablis, very refined, mildy saline, concentrated, superb wood, only a whiff of vanilla, and that is one side of the wine; a bit waxy and some caramel shows the age of the wine and combined it is a very delicate and concentrated wine with some acceptable minor unbalances in the aftertaste. Take this wine now from your cellar and you have a wonderful bottle.

91 pts

Simon's Dauvissat dinner (Lorne): Muted and disjointed at first, so we asked for it to be decanted. Initially the impression was of a sharp, bright, juicy wine, but the second glass was much more cohesive and vibrant, with lime and biscuit and a longer finish. Score is for the wine at its best.

The nose takes about a half hour to wake up and get going as it fills the glass with lemon curds, apples, poached pears, creams, vanilla notes, honeydew, flint, crushed rocks, tidal pool notes, and yellow flowers. The Medium bodied feel is well balanced and poised while the medium+ acidity is refreshing and well integrated. This is open for business and shows some more maturity across the nose and palate. The acidity still has a bit of punch while the feel is textured and deep. What a difference 7 years makes. A lot has happened since I first had this and while this was a wonderful wine, the thoughts and memories this brought back make it more than just something wonderful to drink.

(Note: This is the Dauvissat-Camus bottling, which I have been told is the same wine as the Rene & Vincent Dauvissat, and have posted under both nomenclatures)
This bottle was very tight, more so than one had earlier this year, but oh so deep and promising, and opened up nicely after a couple of hours in the decanter. Preserved lemon and pear on the nose with a hint of the fennel, iodine and vanilla to come with age. Starchy extract on the midpalate, and after decanting for a couple of hours the finish began to really flesh out. So much minerality at the back end over time. So quintessentially Chablis, and such a great white wine. This reminds me of the 2000 vintage of this wine. Note to self: don't open the next bottle until at least 2023.

Beside the usual Chablis ingredients (iodine, algae...) here is pear and even some exotic notes, rich and a bit oily, not a typical Chablis, but drinking well.

A bit mixed feelings, during 3 days the wines was different in bouquet, taste and balance. Sometimes I recognized a glimp of the stony chablis style, sometimes the bouquet of apricots was predominant. The taste showed ripeness, sometimes age with a buttery, waxy impression, a firm body and the aftertaste missed the necessary nutty finish until the last day. A very good wine but difficult to catch.

Just when I had started to convince myself that this really is classic Chablis, this bottle came along. Medium yellow. Something ripe and exotic about the nose-definitely more pear and pineapple than citrus, with a touch of honey as well. Medium to full bodied, round glycerine feel. Despite all of this, it does have real Chablis muskiness and salinity on the back end, but the acid spine is just not there. Fresh and without any trace of oxidation. Interesting and very good to be sure, but no, not classic La Forest, at least not this particular bottle.

Dauvissat plus X Tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): *** all wines tasted blind *** Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Clear, medium golden color. Fragrant, airy nose, some anise, complex. High acidity is a bit unbalanced and nervous, but gives the wine a good freshness and juiciness. Typical lovely mineral core, good precision, and length. Still young. 90-91

Lovely Chablis, so fresh and pure, liquified apple and minerals drizzled with honey and hints of iodine, pure vanilla and fennel (notes I often get with this wine as it matures). This will age beautifully, but drinking so well now it is hard to resist opening more. Too bad the price of current vintages has entered the stratosphere ...

nose - pit fruit, peach tart, seabreeze, custard as it warms mouth - powerful, focused, pit fruit immediately followed razor like acidity that makes my lip smack and then sliced peaches present themselves on the very long finish. very mineral as well but the acid is a bit pushy. This is has quite some life left in in. Gets more complex as warms. Don’t drink this too cold. Hold for several years.

Nice citrus, acidity is lower than expected, and has a slight caramel note on the end. It might sound like I didn’t like it, but I quite enjoyed it with my lobster roll. It was very reminiscent of a Ceritas Chardonnay from a couple of weeks ago.

After a long hiatus in tasting 2013 Chablis, I was expecting to find a richer, more exotic style. Once again, my preconceptions were dashed. Medium yellow. More than a little of the Dauvissat reduction, but once that receded with air, musky lemon and iodine. Medium body, a little more abrupt feel than the best vintages. Flavors of tart lemon, herbs, some light oak, and a ton of soil on the finish. Nothing blowsy about it, and this bottle was not botrytized at all. Truly excellent and in great shape.

A very enjoyable white Burgundy even if it tastes richer than what you'd expect from Chablis. The nose has notes of iodine, flowers and yellow fruit. The palate is a little richer with notes of riper orchard and citrus fruit, minerals and a hint of salinity.

The flip flop of 2013 Dauvissat continues for me. Clean and bright in appearance. A slight golden hew. Quite honeyed on the palate. But more towards caramel than honey, which felt to me as this was more advanced than I would have expected. Certainly reflective of a richer, warmer vintage. Good acidity, clean on the palate. Minerality and saltiness on the palate. Enjoyable, but I had this nagging question of whether this was in top shape.

"Only we can put out la foręt fires when thunder strikes the mountain" (Chicago, IL): Sometimes these lesser vintages really impress. This has a slightly green tinge, but it's not the sort of stemmy snap pea vein that plagues the 2011s. Lighter and fresher, with some really nice white fruit, a hint of green herbs, a touch of sweetness, and just this really congenial, cheerful disposition. Drinking very well for a wine so young.

The colour is pale yellow. Clean, salty, chalky, mineral nose with hints of lemon. On the palate, the wine is a bit mute in the beginning, but opens up with air. Smooth, grilled lemon, medium bodied, good acidity. Long and juicy aftertaste. Veeeery nice
Nothing wrong just doesn’t seem to have hit its stride yet. Has the iodine but none of the ocean that I like so much with this wine. Try again in 2020+

The first impression is a drizzle of honey. The second is pure rainwater and river rocks. We don't probably need to go to 3rd and 4th but there is a big squeeze of lemon and the wine is quite direct. A lovely, fresh bottle of Chablis that drinks well in its youth.

Chablis-Mostly 2016 and a Few Others (SF Wine Trading Company): Yellow. Sulfur and brine on the nose. Generous ripe citrus on the entry, then tart acidity, soil, and a much leaner finish. Youthful and disjointed. I would hope that more time (at least another 2 or 3 years?) brings it together.

Popped & poured and tasted blind. Initially difficult to identify as Chablis - did not guess- due to an opulent nose with smoke aromas. However, with air and time in the glass it unfolded as to show its origins, specially on palate, where it shined the most: lean, mineral with piercing acidity and a lemon/citrus finish. Painfully young but delicious pairing with an oyster-based meal.

Tasted blind with a François Cotat Mont Damnés 2008 and a Chablis Vaudécorse 2015 from Gilbert Picq. The color is fairly dark for a Chablis. The nose is very nice, the warmer it gets and the more expressive it becomes. The wine is rich, as good acidity but not as usual, shows more ripeness and fullness than usual, is it the 2013 vintage or comparison with the other 2?. Hard to say but nonetheless very good, a long finish and a delicious bottle that is the favorite of everyone for this flight of Whites.

Drukket over tre dager uten å endre seg særlig. Tror ikke denne flaska var helt tip-top.

Good bright color, a slight blueberry tone on the nose, oyster shell, on the palate racy, great length, a firm acidity of good strength that does not overshadow the mid-palate, substantial yet genteel in its way, mineral waves with time and it also gets very quiet on the mid-palate, pears with time, a very pretty wine and a worthy Chablis- and one I think will mature fairly soon despite it being a bit reluctant today. **(*)+, 2018 to 2023+

Served blind, and being a largely Disorderly gathering, I guessed this was a Muscadet. Whoops. It's an incredibly refreshing, vibrant wine showing lots of ripe lemon and other citrus fruit flavours over a base of stony and chalky mineral notes, witha faint briny note that develops on the nose with more air. Medium weight on the palate with lots of intensity to the ripe fruit and mineral flavours, but also plenty of acidity keeping it very focused and precise.

classic in nature, and power and intensity already, this has significant lemon fruit and lemon peel (for bitterness, or is that iodine), this is classic chablis but relatively full bodied for chablis, powerful, the only way this doesn't go up two points is if the slight sweetness that provides balance to the rind / bitter elements doesn't hang in there

Decanted and poured, this wine required about thirty minutes to show its best. The aromatics begin somewhat muted and become expressive and detailed with airing. The bouquet shows citrus, oyster shell, chalk and floral notes. The color is a light to medium yellow tending somewhat toward medium yellow. The color is youthful and vibrant but somewhat what darker than expected for the wines age. The light to medium bodied palate also benefits from airing and gives a medium length finish with a fine chalk like texture. Overall, this wine drinks well now with decanting and gives the impression it will benefit from an additional year or two of bottle age.

Really nice light golden color, really muted at first, so after 2h of slow ox, nice confit lemon, lime peel, pineapple, white flower notes with great freshness coming from candied ginger nuance, a tad of herbs and asparagus. Mouthfeel is great, pure candied lime peel and some richness from wood treatment, with time, acid taking a lot of place on the finale with crushed rock element. Not fully together, need to rest a few years before cracking another one.

Flavors of tart lemon, herbs, some light oak, and a ton of soil on the finish. Nothing blowsy about it, and this bottle was not botrytized at all. Truly excellent and in great shape.

Hard to say but nonetheless very good, a long finish and a delicious bottle that is the favorite of everyone for this flight of Whites.

classic in nature, and power and intensity already, this has significant lemon fruit and lemon peel (for bitterness, or is that iodine), this is classic chablis but relatively full bodied for chablis, powerful, the only way this doesn't go up two points is if the slight sweetness that provides balance to the rind / bitter elements doesn't hang in there

Consumed over two nights. Perhaps a little more open night two, but no slouch on night one either. Drinking well now and should age well over short to mid-term.

Bright green-tinted yellow. Reticent nose of iodine, oyster shell, and lemon peel. Austere but not harsh, with citrus and minerals on the huge finish. As usual, Dauvissat's La Forêt is a captivating, gorgeous wine, but here it will take time to shed it's rough edges and open up. Drink starting 2020.

Luftet i karaffel.

Rik deilig frukt.

Young White and Red Burgundy, 2012 Through 2014 (The Wine Club, San Francisco): Yellow/green. Reticent nose. Medium weight. Crisp, dry yellow citrus with a pleasing texture. Youthful, powerful, stony finish. This is still highly coiled and very promising.

Really enjoyable. Needs a little air, but otherwise drinking well (though I am sure a couple of years of age will benefit this).

This is on fire right now. Classic Chablis in character with saline on the nose and crush seashells on the palate. Big acidity and long on the finish. Fantastic. Clearly Chablis in the blind tasting.

Showing gorgeously -- round yet good spicy minerality, exotic truffley bready candied lemon/lime. Great food wine.

Nose: The nose has a nice lemony backdrop with green apples, pears, crushed rocks, white fruits, and some flinty notes.
Taste: Medium/Light bodied with medium+ acidity. There is a refreshing quality to the acidity with green apples, crushed rocks, pears, and a touch of white fruits.
Overall: This is a lovely and young Chablis. It is very primary, but ever so lovely in its youth.

2013 Wines in Bottle Chez Vincent Dauvissat (Chablis): In a way the synthesis of Sechet structure, Vaillons fruit and breadth, and an added dollop of intensity and broth character. As is often the case, the best of the Premier Crus with a long life ahead of it. Outstanding wine.
