A rich garnet color with a ruby edge, the wine opens to reveal lifted fruit aromas of bright strawberry and jammy fruit, mocha, and vanilla, along with toasty oak notes. Expressive boysenberry, blackberry, dark cherry, juicy strawberry, and toasty mocha flavors lend complexity and depth on the palate. The well-integrated oak provides structure and depth.

First time I have encountered a greasy mouthfeel in a wine. Strong cola flavor, dark purple color. Smells like taffy. How is this twenty dollars a bottle (more in a restaurant)! Do yourself a favor and try an inexpensive bourgogne/village wine from jadot or drouhin or bouchard or faiveley or...

PnP-Clear, bright, medium concentration, no evidence of sediment or gas, color is deep garnet, medium extract/stain, medium high viscosity, nose - no faults, moderate intensity, dark red fruits, slight mushroom, off dry on palate, medium low tannins, medium acidity, medium- high alcohol, medium-full body, ripe red jammy fruits, slight clove flavor, medium finish, balanced but not overly complex. Atypical Pinot Noir blended with petite sirah. Pinot Noir with training wheels, an introductory red wine.

Opened and decanted for one hour. Great nose, legs, full-bodied. One of the biggest Pinots I have experienced. Long finish, currant and chocolate. Delightful.

Easy drinking, with the right balance of fruit forward and earthy notes of a typical Pinot but you could never call this a light red. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor, cherry and plum. It tastes like black currant (cassis) and blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

Couldn’t drink it. Tastes like a cheap Pinot ... oh, wait, it is a cheap Pinot. Except I can find better at this price. So, for the quality, this isn’t cheap enough. Drinks like $9.99 bottle.

Nice weekday drinker. Mixed red and black sweet fruits with some acidity in mid palate and very soft if any tannin on the finish. Simple and enjoyable with salmon, chicken and pork.

Not what I typically look for in a Pinot. Bigger, darker, and fruitier than most. That said, it's a well made, polished, food friendly wine and a decent value. The sweetness worked remarkably well with the spiciness of stuffed poblano peppers.

Delicious and unusual. Very dark in color and full bodied for a pinot with complex dark berries and a fairly subtle cherry undertone. It /is/ fruit forward but wouldn't call it sweet. Great value.

A pleasant pinot that usually provides a nice easy drinking albeit a little on the sweet side or fruit forward side for a pinot. My lone bottle which was a gift from someone. A nice easy drinking wine which will usually be liked by most.

Agree with others: it's quite fruit-forward. Sweetness was not cloying but got in the way of anything terribly complex. Decent value by CA pinot noir standards

Not I would expect from a typical Pinot Noir. Lots of vanilla and very ripe red fruit. Easy drinking and nice smooth finish. I would say too fruit forward for my taste.

Consistent from year to year. If you like this style of oaky, fruity Pinot--and we do!--you'll sit for hours sipping. Deeply colored, though not so deeply flavored, it is, nonetheless, brimming with fruit. Soft on the pallet, with an easy moderate finish.

To be perfectly honest and upfront, this isn't a wine that I would buy and I knew it wasn't my style. But I had the opportunity to try and it and figured I needed to have an opinion based on experience rather than assumption. At first, massive and I mean overwhelming vanilla along with red cherry on the nose, but this did settle down with time. Red cherry upfront, with some light notes of strawberry behind and some deeper notes of black cherry in the background. Tannins, acidity and light spices led the wine into the finish. Very smooth through the middle with no rough edges, no disjointedness and no out of places notes. Generally speaking, this wine is exactly what you'd expect: good fruit, lots of vanilla/oak and designed to be drunk young. It was nowhere near as candied or over extracted as I'd feared it might be. Doesn't have the complexity, depth or varietal character to be something I'd enjoy, but it's well made and has enough going for it that's its an easy recommendation for someone who enjoys this style.
- Garnet color - This wine is a derivative of Caymus. Recently sold for $330M. This is a gem of a wine, with a yummy fruit taste. Can't go wrong with this purchase.

Very dark ruby in color, this wine revealed copious levels of smoke, black cherry and black licorice on the nose. The mouth feel is full-bodied with subtly sweet tannins and more smoke. The finish is short and noticeably hot from the alcohol.
A recent gift from a co-worker, this is not my style of wine. Tasted blind, I doubt I would identify it as PN. It's too big and the smoke throws it out of balance. Not recommended.

PnP. Smoke, smoke, and more smoke. Virtually overwhelmed whatever red fruits there were in this wine. Maybe should have decanted, but the wine really did not improve much as we sipped it over the course of an hour plus. Based on past bottles of meiomi (other vintages) I expected a "fruitier", more balanced wine.

Atypical Pinot Noir. Petite Sirah added. Deep garnet in glass, jammy black fruit, off dry to slightly sweet, medium full body. Yummy but not a classic pinot noir.Last vintage by Joe Wagner prior to selling to Constellation Brands.

Always a nice everyday Pinot at great QPR when you can find it as we did at World Market sale under $15. Last of my 14's moving onto 15's but has seemed to be consistently good year after year.

Solid, year in and year out. This is heavy and extracted, and the vanilla is almost overwhelming, but if that's your style, this presents an excellent QPR.

dark cherry, fruity, moderate and balanced palate, light tannins, a little sweet, medium acidity, medium bodied, all round and polished texture with plain finish.
Jammy flavor up front, oak is evident. A big wine. I have to wonder if they add something in the mix as I get a strong flavor of grape must on the finish.

I think this wine is inconsistent. Yesterday's bottle was really good. I had a bottle 3 months ago that was terrible. Has to be tough to source that many grapes for 150k bottles. Not a wine I'll be buying again but I'll drink what I have.

Interesting wine. It performed very poorly in a blind wine tasting. It finished last out of 6 reds. I just served it with a Sun-dried beef dish (made with 1 c of this wine) and it did well. We are cab people, so had a bit of prejudice against this pinot, but do give it a chance. Very drinkable.
Looks like we've had 5 of these over the last 2+ months. Great with salmon, pizzas, pastas. Really like it. It's fruit driven, straightforward and pleasurable. And easily available. Most of you have likely long ago formed an opinion about this wine, but for those of you who haven't, give it a try if you like Pinot. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong.

Some wine folks lump this one into the same group as The Prisoner, Apothic Red/Dark, Rombauer, etc.... Sweet tasting, mass produced Cougar juice. I actually kind of like it for what it is. A cheap, easy drinking Pinot great for a weeknight, kind of wine. At $17, a decent QPR. Deep strawberry, raspberry, vanilla, pepper and some earth. Touch hot finish. Deepens with air and more spice emerges. Short decant recommended. Drink.

UNP. Color dark. Nose has dark fruit a little atypical for Pinot. Same on palate and this seems to have some sweetness that gives this a cherry cough syrupy quality. Soft and plush but lacking a spine. Should be popular w many by the glass.

Bon rapport Q/P.

This is consistently enjoyable. We made this our inaugural purchase from the grocery store now that TN has finally caught up to the times, and it did not disappoint. Paired with soy-glazed salmon though I suspect it would do well with a number of different dishes. The wine has a nice tart cherry profile without overpowering the senses.

Sweet berries and vanilla nose, same on the palate, with a long, lingering finish. Silky, sweet, and seductive, but one dimensional, too sweet (like jolly rancher candy), and no fresh earthiness or savory herbs or spice that I like in pinot. I can see this as being a crowd pleaser, but it's not a serious wine at all.

Upon opening this wine I was immediately reminded of my most youthful days. The smell was not unfamiliar to me - it was similar to my naptime mat in kindergarten. These warm memories of my 2PM nap and naptime crush were welcomed, I would recommend this wine to anyone. The memories of my youth did not end with the bouquet - the taste of this wine reminded me of my youthful trips to the parish (county for carpetbaggers) fair where I would eat cotton candy.

Not as good as 2013, which wasn't that great (don't know what WS was thinking). This is a bit disjointed -- it tastes like mass produced Pinot using low quality grapes from all over the place. Wait - that's how they made it! I feel that there are better examples out there for $20. Try 2014 Siduri Sonoma County.

Once again, we have users of this app (Arch57) that truly do not know how to properly rate wine. To give this Pinot a 70 is such an amateur way to show you know nothing about wine. Because you don't personally like a wine doesn't mean you give it a rating that is completely off base from most of the users out there. Unfortunately, these kind of users skew the actual average of a wine which ruins it for the rest of us. If you want to know how to properly rate wine on a 100 point scale, look it up on google...

I read how "popular" this wine is, selling hundreds of thousands cases per year so I wanted to try a bottle to see what the fuss is. Right off the bat when I poured a glass for my wife she said "yuch what is this?" I then sample it and agree with Paula. Syrupy sweet over oaked mess of a wine. If I paid $10 for a magnum like Yellow Tail I'd say you get what you pay for but for $20 per 750ml I feel ripped off. To all the fans of this wine search out some real Cali or Oregon Pinot Noir to get an idea of what this grape really tastes like. p.s. I think Wine Spectator's 88pt score reflects the ads Meiomi places in their magazine.

Wouldn't normally bother to read about and score something this mass produced but was curious to see what others thought of the 2014. I normally appreciate this wine for what it is and like it but this one just went over the top for me. I think this is the first wine where I got vanilla as the dominant flavor. It tasted like a cross between a super sweet grape cream soda and a Dr. Pepper. In case you were wondering that is not a good thing. Of course one of the other people drinking this really liked it. There is a reason that they sell a zillion of these every year.
First it is worth noting that this wine will be produced in this style because it is what the main customer of Meiomi is expecting. And ......... produce it ....... Boy do they !!! (The brand was just sold for a lot of money) As i read in Wine Spectator they bottle 100's of thou$and's of ca$es of this wine. How they do that is trully an incredible feat.
It is a ripe and fruit forward style which is exactly what the Wagner's modeled this wine to be. It is not bad, but also quickly gets tired on the palette. This particular year has candy-like flavor and a lingering and rather spicy finish. I actual thought is was fine. Not great, and not bad either.
From a standpoint of value this is way up there, and is worth serving to my sister-in law instead of her drinking my Boar's head Pinot's or AP Vin's at 2-3 times the price.
This is under $ 20 and is produced at a volume level that they list (3) counties on the bottle face. Many many grapes needed ! Good ones, and bad ones are all welcome alike, and you could sense it in the taste.

Let's be realistic. Not really a Pinot noir just a California red. Easy to drink and smooth by way too sweet. Nothing subtle or elegant just ripeness and berries which for 22 dollars I think is overpriced. Not horrible just not a good Pinot.

It begins in the usual Meiomi ripe fruit forward style, but it's a bit off from previous vintages. Starts with that ripe cherry fruit, then transitions to a tea, dried herb, eucalyptus finish. Not a smooth transition.

My first taste of the 2014. I've not liked previous vintages of this cocktail beverage and this one is more of the same: Overripe fruit, heavy oak treatment, really no Pinot character at all. Yes, it tastes good with all its sweetness and whatnot, but not what I look for in wine.

Fruity and smooth, but not too sweet. Fairly good body, with just a hint of funky barnyardyness layered in to remind you that it's a Pinot. I had along side a Williams Selyem Russian River, which is an $80 wine, and while this was simple and short in comparison, this proved to be fantastic QPR.

To be charitable, this Pinot noir may appeal to folks with different preferences as to palate. That said, I thought this bottle was a very poor example of the grape. Huge vanilla nose and excessively sweet.

The reviewers who claim this "doesn't taste like Pinot" must not have tons of experience with the varietal.
Yes, it's a bit "sweet," is a bit too extracted, has some awkward oak, and tastes rather "industrial." But underneath all that is a Coastal California Pinot from pretty decent grapes, to be sure.
Not really my thing, but at $15, this is quite a good value. I've had more than a few bottles three times the price that tasted very similar.

I purchased two bottles for thanksgiving. After the first glass, I switched out the wine. I was concerned that the wine was bad. It did not taste at all like a pinot noir. Meiomi is a high style Pinot Noir that is shaped, more than anything else, by the fruit sources that lay the foundation of the blend. A pure bred enjoyment wine, built to accommodate any pairing from food to friends. Unifying California’s most noteworthy coastal areas opens the door for a dynamic and opulent wine that is ready to enjoy whenever you are.

It gave me great pleasure to click on the "Drink or Remove a Bottle" button this time. Because it means this wine won't ever be in my cellar again. It's OK wine. It probably has some pinot noir grape juice in it. But does it smell/taste like Pinot? NO. As far as being wine, it's average. But as a Pinot, it's below average. If you want Pinot, don't buy this wine.

Primary garnet stone color. Baking spice and cherry pie aromas. Smooth and sweet to open. A wine for the masses. This offers cherry pie filling, rhubarb and a wisp vanilla bean on the finish. The vanilla seems much lighter than normal. These Caymus-family wines don't move much from year to year. This is not quite as deep as 2013. I expect this will be received well by the critics and public. This has s ripe California vibe. This is made for drinking now. 89

Perhaps one of the most basic and manufactured wines I have consumed in some time. Not a typical Pinot by any means in terms of nose or palate. Very fruit focused and soft with no aging necessary. Ripe berry compete nose, baked cookies and sugar. Palate is soft with stewed cherries, vanilla, and cherry herring. Smooth and easy with no sense of place. Can't see how this price point is different than a $10 bottle of Pinot.

Not what I typically look for in a Pinot. Bigger, darker, and fruitier than most. That said, it's a well made, polished, food friendly wine and a decent value. The sweetness worked remarkably well with the spiciness of stuffed poblano peppers.

A pleasant pinot that usually provides a nice easy drinking albeit a little on the sweet side or fruit forward side for a pinot. My lone bottle which was a gift from someone. A nice easy drinking wine which will usually be liked by most.

Drink.

Silky, sweet, and seductive, but one dimensional, too sweet (like jolly rancher candy), and no fresh earthiness or savory herbs or spice that I like in pinot. I can see this as being a crowd pleaser, but it's not a serious wine at all.

Served with salmon. This is a more robust Pinot Noir and quite mouth filling. A bit on the fruity side; but enjoyable.

Very good. Very dark purple (almost black) in color with thin legs. Oak, cherry on the nose. Smooth, but alcoholy/syrupy.

Took 2 years off as was disappointed after 2011. This was improved but still hard for me to accept as a Pinot. However I enjoyed for the price

My first taste of the 2014. I've not liked previous vintages of this cocktail beverage and this one is more of the same: Overripe fruit, heavy oak treatment, really no Pinot character at all. Yes, it tastes good with all its sweetness and whatnot, but not what I look for in wine.

89+. Big, fruit-forward Cali-style pinot. If you like this style, then I think this is a good choice. It's readily available, fairly priced, and good quality.

Off-red color, a bit cloudy
Nose is characteristically Pinot, but too floral
Thin, sweet, kind of cloying on the palate
Not really a bad wine, but not great either
Maybe it would be better if they just used the Monterey juice ...

To be charitable, this Pinot noir may appeal to folks with different preferences as to palate. That said, I thought this bottle was a very poor example of the grape. Huge vanilla nose and excessively sweet.

A "Coca-Cola" wine...of course it's not you're typical Pinot Noir, of course it's not classic in style, of course it's a bit sweet...but once in a while, it's just fun to enjoy a Coca-Cola and not analyze it.

The chocolate was overwhelming as were the other fruits. It was more like cough syrup. Opened the second bottle last night. Same result. An overwhelmingly bad concoction.
