Medium pale to medium ruby, with an interesting umami nose - palate is mostly cherry, some spice, nice, winey - definitely New World Pinot, but still elegant and restrained. Low key, subtle, but all the better for that. Excellent.

Dark berry fruits - cranberry/raspberry, earthy, spicy. Surprisingly fresh tasting and light on its feet. NIce balance even if the grip is more mellow than past bottles. I also thought there was more depth to the flavors in this bottle. 90+

Dark fruits, brambly, earthy and spicy. Medium body, nice balance, good depth and no sharp edges. Overall very solid and enjoyable with good Oregon typicity. The tartness of prior bottles was not noticeable and in fact, this bottle had plenty of fruit and good depth. Drinking very nicely right now. 90+

Interesting, but muted nose of red fruits, bramble, earth and cloves. Seemed very disjointed and out of balance on the palate for the first hour and then came together later. Somewhat muted flavors without a lot of depth, intensity or texture. Good acidity, but with more tartness than I prefer. Overall a bit lightweight, reserved and feminine. Nothing special, but still an enjoyable everyday wine. I actually thought it was better than some of the 2008 bottles of this wine, a vintage which seems to have a lot of bottle variation.

Aired this for 2+ hours after an initial taste, and it made a big difference. Big blast of juicy red cherries on the nose and palate along with earth, mushrooms, tea and oak. Big, rich and ripe thru the mid-palate, but loses some intensity and adds acidity and some green notes toward the backend and on the finish. Slightly creamy, mid-weight mouthfeel.

Popped and poured. This is a light red wine. On the nose, there is cherry, raspberry, bramble, pine, and a slight bit of heat. In the mouth, this is smooth and balanced, although without a lot of fruit. The finish is slightly tart. Overall, this is varietally correct -- it could be nothing but Pinot -- and somewhat delicate. I see no need to wait. 91 points.

Deep, concentrated nose with layers of dark cherries, damp earth, spice, and something savory. Juicy fruit in the mouth, balanced with nice acidity and some well-integrated tannins that build gradually through the finish.

Blind Oregon Pinot Noir (Garth & Sara's): Tasted blind. Light burgundy color in the glass. Dark red fruits and earthy/mushroomy notes on the nose. Bright in the mouth, with a mix of red and dark fruit flavors. Well-balanced structure drives the long finish.

Garnet color with baked cherry, spice, and damp earth. Well balanced palate with enough rich flavor to match the acidity. Finishes very nice. Classic Eyrie elegance. Love it

Similar to earlier note: medium bodied, red fruit and earth, with a hint of spice and black tea. Savory, rather than sweet. Paired very nicely with sauteed duck breast.

This wine continues to integrate and develop. Nose is cherries, spice and wisps of smoke. Nice balance in the mouth with good acidity (especially for the '09 vintage) on entry, along with nice fruit, and then some chalky tannins round out the finish. I think this is drinking pretty well right now, but I think this has the balance and structure to age, and I wouldn't be surprised if the complexity increases with a few more years in the bottle.

Pale garnet in the glass with some brown at the fringe. A darker nose, light touches of cherry. A cool wine that moves through the mouth like a breeze. Odd for a pinot, the dark and heavy back-end it has. It's got almost nothing in the front, only a smidgen of detail in the mid, but it furnishes a relaxing, long linger in the back of the throat. I'm not sure if this wine would benefit from a longer staging. It seems like a peak has already come and past, only whispering now of what it was. It's a good overall wine, but I hesitate to say it's a representation of pinot noir.

Light ruby color, medium bodied. Raspberry, cherry, and spice nose. Red fruit and minerality on the palate, with good acidity and dusty tannins. Not sweet. Medium-long finish. Burgundy in America! (and thus, decent value.) Paired with salmon & prawn pie--good winter fare, and good match!

One hour rest in bottle. Light Ruby color. Med/Fast legs. Cedar, Cherry and Tobacco, nose. Subtle palate of Strawberry, Cherry, Cedar and Earth. Soft texture. Nice balance with a bit of acidity. Med/Long finish but maybe a touch lacking up front. 13.5% ABV.

This one is definitely about smoky cherries. It's a graceful wine and one that shows earthy minerally characteristics after getting air for several hours. Great acid despite it being a 2009. This wine is definitely a standout from the vintage.

Smells wonderful, fresh cherries, pepper, spices, and a hint of grape stem. Bright, fresh cherry fruit on the palate, turning chalky in the mid-palate as some ripe grapefruit shows up near the finish. Great acidity, balanced and with that ruby red grapefruit thing, lip-smackingly good.

Pacific Northwest Tasting Trip Day 1; 4/4/2012-4/14/2012 ((Willamette Valley & Portland)): Small taste at the tasting room. Nose of red fruit, lots of florals, briar. Palate of sour raspberry, little floral, herbs and minerals. Finish was above average and there was great acidity present. A very nice QPR IMO and a really elegant wine in a warmer vintage. 90-91

Not showing much yet but seems to have fair amount of potential. I'm going to wait another year or two before approaching, or at least decant for several hours. This wine didn't even budge after an hour in the decanter.

Great bottle. Right now this is all about the tension between high toned red fruits and earthy minerality. Every sip would flip between the two.
I don't have enough experience drinking pinot to know how this will age, but the acidity is good. Tanins aren't strong until the finish, when they kick up and hang on with lingering fruit flavors.
In any case, this is delicious now. I'm saving my other bottle given Eyrie's track record, but if you have a few don't hesitate to pop one.

Racy young wine. Tight nose with some yeasty notes. The palate leans more towards brighter red fruits, but with some cherry cola notes. Good acidity and tannins through the finish. Drinks pretty well right now, but I'd hold until 2012-2013, at least.
