Outstanding. Still very young, with a vibrant acid finish. Med bodied, moderate sweetness, blonde caramel in color, not as dark as others have suggested. Aromas of kefir lime leaves, a bit gassy/petrol, apples, and some nutty/spicy aromas. In the mouth, the wine is still very fresh, fresh apple cider, citrus, nice mouthfeel, glorious finish- just dovetailing flavors that go on... Man, I love this stuff.

Sadly last bottle. At its peak, lovely sweet and profound. Light amber colour and nose of apple pie, pecan nuts, a whiff of petrol and a whiff of caramel. Finished the bottle in no time.

Nose: orange zest, ripe apricot, pineapple, ripe apple peel, sweet flowers, a bit of petrol station, nut-almond, minerality, summer style, honey Palate: medium acidity, medium + sugar, quite viscous and broad. Medium alcohol, finishes on the tart side with citrus zest Delicious summer balcony wine.

Perfekt moden nå - men snart på vei ned. Moden aprikos, honning, blomster, fortsatt mineralitet - mangler intensiteten til moden riesling på sitt aller beste, men virkelig flott og hedonistisk vin. (Kom opp feil score i appen.)

Served with a variety of mild-to-spicy Chinese cuisine at "Duck Duck Goat" in Chicago, this wine was tasty but far from transcendent. The color was light copper. The acidity and sweetness were appropriate, and nicely complemented the food. What was lacking was power, and finish. The bottle just seemed tired, for lack of a better word. As much as I love this producer, I think I would have preferred a less expensive JJ Prum auslese of similar vintage.

Tan colored, almost tawny. Wonderfully mature nose of petrol and dried flowers immediately, followed by dried citrus and candied fruits. Good body, still good acidity without that much sweetness and a medium finish. This went well with some sweet and sour dishes, and IMO not quite sweet enough to pair with dessert. Should be great with curries too.

Mature nose of kerosene, exotic fruits like pineapple. Melon and orange zest and honey. Medium (+) intense. Palate rather similar. Oily, almost chewy and quite sweet, but thanks to the tangy acidity it remains fresh. Long and very fruity finish. It fit our aubergine curry really well.
Better next day, rounder and more "juicy", more balanced.

Gyllengul på farge. Tørka frukt (fiken, dadler), litt julepreg, men også noe aprikos og tropisk frukt. Litt kafirlime. Svært fyldig i munnen, relativt tung, men likevel frisk - om enn mindre enn en tysk auslese. Lang ettersmak dominert av noe bittert, men med et lite snev av vingummi.

Marks duckhouse – La Las, 02 HB, 01 Pavie, CSH, Leflaive, QdC and etc. (Marks duckhouse, Falls Church, Va): From an half bottle. Since ZH wines were loved by Bob, they used to have very high demand. IMO, ZH is to Alsatian as Aubert is to CA chardonnay, ie they both have so much of everything. Absolutely delicious nose displaying orange marmalade, candied orange rind, fig and sweet spices. For me, the great dessert wines always have beautiful texture and what makes this wine exceptional is the beguiling airy texture. Certainly not so nuance driven, nevertheless so incredibly tasty like a decadent peach cobbler.

Great nose, extracted orange skin, pear, fig, petrol, thick and oily texture. Aged very nicely right now out of a .375, would drink now and over the next 5 years.

Golden amber in colour. Viscous in the glass. Aromas of seville orange marmalade, apricots, figs. On the palate, mid-sweet, beautifully thick and juicy, nice balance. Paired beautifully with grilled whole fish and a spicy jicama and cilantro salad.

This is my first of 12 at age 8. Flighty nose, excellent mouth, decent length. Quite nice for what it is - a light-on-its-feet Auslese with an incredible sense of balance and a light sweetness that seems to hover over the wine. The fruit isn't so defined, but the ethereal-ness is. Not quite sweet enough to have with dessert, but a nice dessert substitute.

Fairly deep straw. Heady, full-blown botrytis, with marmalade, canned peaches, and tarragon. Exquisite silky attack, with most of the acidity under wraps at this point. Impressively long, but I think this is a long way from showing its full personality.

big disaapointment. flabby, lacking focus, and i daresay fruit. almost too thin in the midpalate to register. this is going the wrong way. nothing in this bottle bodes well for the future. yikes!

The Sorting Table / Glunz Grand Wine Tasting (Webster's Wine Bar - Chicago, IL): Tasted at the Sorting Table / Glunz event @ Webster's Wine Bar. Holy smoke! This was a SPECTACULAR wine experience. Absolutely the WOTN. So much going on in the nose. Tons of apples and honey. Roasted walnuts, burnt caramel. So rich. The palate is neverending. Lush tropical fruits. Some excellent sweetness on the mid-palate but the acidity holds the wine together with such finesse. This is by far the best riesling I have ever tasted. This is absolutely mind blowing. The balance of acidity, sweetness and alcohol is flawless. Well done.

i must admit that i didn't realize this was a VT until i examined the label to post this note, although i thought it was awfully sweet for a riesling. thankfully, i have 10 more.
well, apples and pears and apricots wrapped inside a big taco of minerality and garnished with white flowers and stone. it's pretty much what you come to expect from this wine and this producer. the acidity is good, but it's not a blockbuster. even doctor drink 'em while their young says hunker these down in the cellar. shall we repeat the mantra? "you can never have enough zind-humbrecht in your cellar."

A day at Zind Humbrecht (Turckheim, Alsace, France): Light to medium yellow in the glass, this wine possesses 11.5% alcohol and 75 g/l of residual sugar. Is it possible for a wine to have better balance than the Clos Windsbuhl we had before this? This Brand just may pull that off! But it is splitting hairs as both have an impeccable balance. Beautiful combination of minerality and fruitiness that the best wines from Brand achieve. Really long on the finish. A wow wine now but will be stunning in 10+ years. This seems to be the heir apparent to the 1995 version of this bottling. Which of the 2 VT Rieslings is better? Too close to call. 50+14+14+9+9 = 96+
