Holiday Dinner - Champ, Burg, Piedmont, Rayas and a ringer, Bordeaux and etc. (Officina - Washington D.C.): Very elegant “pretty” vinous nose displaying subtle red fruit, raspberry candy, strawberry soda, cooper, cinnamon, brioche and limestone. Very refined palate, subtle shy red fruit, small amount of very fine mousse, lovely finesse and balance, medium acidity, good mineral presence and a seamless subtle red fruit driven finish with cinnamon and copper at the end. This is drinking perfectly and no need to wait. Love to savor a whole bottle.

Elisabeth Salmon dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): This was, to me, a little blowsy. It's really large scaled, but it doesn't have the same structural elements that you might find in the 95 or 96. This is also the first (and really, only) wine where I found the fruit just a little on the candied side. All that said, this is, in its own right, still a very impressive and delicious example of the cuvee.

Soft, subtle nose of spice. Very assertive palate. Sweetness, rich, red berry fruit. So different from the rest of the BS roses in that the palate is sweeter and more weighty than the nose. Very interesting.

Dinner with Nick and Wayne: Colour pale pink, turning rusty. Served in a Riesling glass. Persistent bead of small bubbles. Fairly subdued bouquet of strawberries, orange zest and fresh salmon. There is very limited autolysis on the nose. On palate, this is a gorgeous, high quality Champagne. A complex flavour profile of strawberries and other red berries, citric notes, clotted cream, fresh salmon and savoury elements. There is a lovely, fresh core of fruit and the flavours are beginning to move secondary around that core. The Champagne is not very leesy, and is more of a wine than a Champagne. It has absolutely gorgeous acidity. It seems to be within its optimal drinking window although it will become more interesting as it moves more secondary in the next few years.

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - May '14 edition (Ben's (NYC)): Liked this a lot. Really bright and vibrant with lots of red berried fruit and citrus flavours framed by creamy, yeasty and mineral notes. There's a remarkable sense of freshness and purity to the flavours, and fantastic acidity beneath keeping it very precise and lively. One of the best rosé Champagnes I've had.

(50+5+13+18+8), great rose champagne, for me better than the regular brut rose, very Young 10-15 more years, red fruits, strawberry cranberry. a Long fresh aftertaste

This bottle was puchased in 2007 right after its release. As a result, it had 4 1/2 years of post purchase bottle age on it. I was not really sure what to expect, but let me tell you, this champagne blew me away. This had beautiful layers of strawberries, cream, bread, minerals, and caramel. The quality of the fruit and the level of complexity was just off the charts. You can tell that it had some similarities with the NV Billecart Salmon Rose, but this just ratchets that experience up to another level. To me this is clearly one of the best vintage Roses on the market at any price. Anyone who likes roses from Dom or Cristal should give the Cuvee Elisabeth a try as this is a much better value.

Beautiful delicate salmon pink. Good stream of small bubbles. Nose of strawberry and redcurrant fruit with the faintest hint of butter. Light, clean and fresh attack, balancing elegance and some intensity of red fruit on the mid-palate with a reasonably long and dry finish. Lovely. Far more finese and posie than the standard NV rose. ****

It's very very good but short of truly great, at least at this early point in its evolution. Beautiful pink/orange color. Bone dry and distinctly winey rather than fruity. Rather than strawberry or raspberry, it tastes more like pinot noir and orange peel. Excellent acidity and a very good food companion. It's probably better to drink this rose very young for its freshness or wait 10+ years to visit it in its maturity.

Not as dazzling this time, but I only got a few hurried sips while decanting the reds. The delicious bright cherry flavor is not to be denied, though. Exuberant, young and not too sweet and not too dry.

Terrific rose champagne that is easily the equal of Comtes Rose (my benchmark). Gorgeous aroma of strawberry and orange peel; nice texture. Really explosive mousse yet not gassy to taste. Not too delicate, real flavor impact on the palate, albeit modest length. I can't really see this getting better with age but for now it's flat out delicious.

Rich, toasty with oxidized-caramel notes. To o with the citrusy blood orange. Full bodied champagne that's supported by nice acidity and freshness. More and toast and caramel than the fruit, with good complexity and character. Drink now- 2015. 91+ pts.

Dennis' summer tasting: Very light and delicate rose. Nose is surprisingly intense and "dark" - red berries, asian spices, rye bread. Tastewise it is very elegant and light on its feet, lots of red grapefruit. Long. It has some difficulties following the 1996 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne, but it is really delicious and wonderfully complex . 94+.

admit to a prejudice towards the Champagne I brought. After it turned out I had drunk the wine I had intended to bring ('90 Pol Roger rose), I only had one cellared wine that seemed to be up to the level needed. But I didn't like that wine ('96 La Grande Dame) very much on a previous taste, so went out and splurged to get this because the 1989 version was my favorite rosé Champagne ever. This was only a quarter step behind the '89, with dried cherry and citrus zest, chalk, and buttermilk biscuits. Elegant, lively, and lovely

Light and elegant on the palate, complex, rich fruit, smoke and minerals, nice acidity, long finish, high drinkability. 94p

Beautiful salmon/pink color. Bright and vibrant. Crisp citrus, baked bread, red berries. Fresh and long finish.
I am still newer to Champagne, so my palate is still being educated - to date this was one of the best rose Champagnes I have had.
