this is what Zin used to taste like before it go "Parkerized"! Zesty black raspberries and signature brambly fruit, with maybe a hint of licorice. medium-to-full bodied. Really nice mouthfeel and texture with just a bit of roughness on the finish (P.S. component?) Would definitely buy again, but am sure this vintage is sold out everywhere. nice to have a structured 14.5% Zin! At its peak now

Finally living up to its potential, but of course it's the last bottle and the stores have moved on to more recent vintages. Just shows that even moderately priced wines can benefit from short term aging to get the best out of the wine.

Similar to other reviews, definitely felt the PS in the blend darken but also possibly mute the Zin leaving the mid-palate a bit hollow. Pleasant dark bramble-berry fruits present, smooth & easy drinking w/BBQ and choc cake...just not as much spice, intensity or complexity compared to higher end DCVs. Solid effort and good QPR, and might have reached an 88 with a solid decanting, better glassware, different food, etc. Not sure where WS92 comes from, unless for potential development further into their 2026 window - which seems way beyond where this wine might improve slightly from today.

Like other reviewers, we thought this was 100% Zin until I read the label tonight. We found the blend to be light, bright, and more interesting than a pure zin, although clearly not the breadth or depth of a French cru. Worked well with lamb burgers, Greek roast potatoes, and a Mediterranean chopped salad. Drink now: it’s not over the hill, but it won’t get any better.

I think time may be taking its toll on this wine or just bottle variation. Not near as good as last two I've had and fruit diminished significantly. Not sure but have a 16' to try and we'll see how that turns out.

My issue with this wine: when I buy a Cali Zin I look for pretty close to a 100% Zin, and this is 20% Petit Sirah and 1 % Carnigane??? So only 79% Zin and it is a poorer wine for that, as the 2015 harvest for Zin was exceptional, so I feel short-changed. That said, this is a decent wine, priced neither as a bargain or overpriced. Just think going forward there are better choices at this price range which will give us that famous mouth-filling Zin spice...this is not it, but it is not a bad wine, just not our style and we are going to have to look more closely at wine offerings to make sure we are getting what we want. Sad!

A consistently good QPR Zin when I've been able to get at World Market for $15. Nice brambly fruit with a bit of acidity carried through on the finish. Have had the 14' and 15' and enjoyed both equally. Would look to go back and see if can get a few more.

A nice, good value zin that showed enough promise that I may need to buy more at Costco. Dark fruits, mocha, licorice, and solid tannins to give it a nice structure and mouthfeel. We drank it with a pork dish from Hello Fresh which complemented the wines flavors nicely. The second glass an hour or so after opening showed much improvement over the first, which leads me to believe that time in bottle will help.

This wine is VERY young, I disagree with some of the comments to the contrary. All the decanting and aerating can't improve unearned youthful vigor. Aroma is of dark berries and pomegranate. Tastes initially very light then a blast of fruit, mostly cherries and blackberries with strawberries. Medium long finish very berry. A great wine for the price, 14.50 at Costco. This is a 2015 so it's very young, wonder how it will be in a year or 2.

An attractive semi-translucent garnet in color, lightening at the edge. Doesn't show much on the nose - just faint aromas of red berries and earth, along with a touch of heat. Initially very tight and austere, this needed two hours to open up completely. Full-bodied and rich, but not jammy or over-extracted. Offers a tasty combination of cherry, raspberry and boysenberry fruit with a pleasant, moderate acidity. Subtle notes of bramble, oak and spice emerge on the medium finish. Quite enjoyable - and restrained in style for a Sonoma Zinfandel - but at this point in time, not even close to being worthy of the WS 92 point score. 50+5+11+15+7=88

Muted nose at this point in its development, but cuts through nicely on the palate, especially after an hour or so. Plenty of dark, rich berry fruit, some nicely layered cassis, and plenty of palate cleansing acidity to allow for growth over the next 5 years. Heading out to get more.

Hot nose with notes of blackberry, but is dominated with some acidic aromas. Not very complex tart blackberry body with a lot of acid and tannins. The balance seems appropriate. Med finish with a touch of earthy pepper that lingers on the palate.
This definitely needs to age and breathe

This Sonoma County Zin is dark ruby in the glass with a nose of blackberry. On the palate, the same blackberry, as well as more pronounced raspberry and sour cherry. It has lengthy finish, which the always reliable and incredibly knowledgable RJ has accurately described as "saline." Addendum, when I first tasted this wine and posted my notes, I described it as exceedingly tart, gave it a middling score and suggested it be put away for several years in the cellar to allow the tannins to mellow. What a difference (in a very good way) a few hours in a decanter makes. For those tasters, who scored in sub 90, I would suggest buying another bottle, giving it plenty of air and then tasting it again.

Hot nose with notes of blackberry, but is dominated with some acidic aromas. Not very complex tart blackberry body with a lot of acid and tannins. The balance seems appropriate. Med finish with a touch of earthy pepper that lingers on the palate.
This definitely needs to age and breathe
Comparing this to a Turley, I will take the Turley every time.

Mid-dark ruby; redwood, bramble, iodine, aldehyde nose; improves with air; mid-body; layered; wood, raspberry flavors; long hot finish. BBQ wine.

Not a big bold zin, but pretty damn good for $16. Berry mélange with black pepper. A subtle bit of that nice Zinfandel earthy licorice on the finish.

Pretty consistent with other vintages and a good zin at a great price. Probably the best budget zin on the market. The perfect weeknight burger/pizza wine.
