Bottle number of 4 of 6 and it is the best this wine has shown so far. Medium gold, very little bead but still some prickle and richness to the nose. A more subtle palate, with all the classic flavours you would expect from a mature Cuvee Bill, plus an exotic touch of ginger, glace fruits and spice to the palate that adds both freshness and complexity. Drunk over 3 days from a well stoppered 750 and was best on day 3, by which time the gas had diminished but the palate had fined up with air. So do not drink too quickly, let it open.

Mixed WTDS at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Light medium gold color. Drank 2 glasses over an hour. Always good to check out on a positive note and this was the best bottle of the group. This was just lovely all around. Mature and developed aromas of apple, apple blossoms, yeast, ginger and apple peel with a cinnamon pastry topnote. The palate is clean and crisp, this is nicely woven together now with apple and pear notes, ginger smaps, and this delightful oxidative note on an elegant and mature frame. 93+ to 94pts.

Deutz Cuvee William Deutz 1999.

(Disgorged in May 2011, 55% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier and 35% Chardonnay) Light yellow colour with a stream of very fine bubbles. Maturing nose showing minerals, red berries and some almond flowers before opening up with a touch of marzipan in a very pleasant way. Nice with a smoothing lemon acidity combined with a touch of strawberry sweetness on the mid before the nice and creamy finish showing red grapefruit bitterness in a fresh way. This is really good now and more fresh than anticipated and should reward a few more years of cellaring.. (Best 2019-2029)

(Disgorged in July 2010, 65% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier and 25% Chardonnay) Corks push out with a gentle pop to show it still has lots of bubbles left, showing by the endless number of tiny bubbles in the glass. Lovely nose showing ginger, honey and maturing notes of chocolate and some yellow plums. Very delicious and fresh palate showing yellow apples and some dried fruit on the lengthy finish. This was more evolved compared with last bottle, showing more dried notes, but should keep fresh for a few more years. (Best 2014-2024)

Eight old bubbles vs the great French Meal (Where friends meet for a great casual French meal): Well, you know you had a really good wine tasting when this one is not on the top three for the dinner. But-- it was still outstanding. I agree with BB review noting the peach (I was looking for that one), and the minerals. I think it took longer time for the grapefruit tasting to start showing up. IMHO, it still needs to age more. I had the '96 before and and the 2000 before, and surprisingly this one feels younger than either one (to an extent, even younger than the '06 I had before). Medium plus finish. Enjoyable, great color, long long long bubbles. But, in the line we had for the dinner it was a hard contest. 91-92

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (I Nonni, St. Paul, MN): Light gold color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Very good and a hit at our table. There's a good amount of toast on this, apple peel, limestone minerality, creamy texture and fine mousse, walnuts, medium plus finish. Good to go now.

From MG: So fine. Elegant, the blend seems in perfect balance, hints of brioche here, citrus, precise fruit and an elegant harmony, that keeps you drinking - if you can afford it. Seems mature but with a lot of life left - from this format cartainly no hurry. #OrdredesCoteauxdeChampagne.

Agree with PERIOKO. this is fully mature. Perhaps it has been in a better spot however it could be enjoyed in full now. Not overly exciting but quite enjoyable at a high temperature when it is gaining wight - vinous and fairly complex.

On the mature side, this is a serious and elegant champagne right at its peak. Serve at right (high) temperature and enjoy the smoothness. Perfect for appetizers, very enjoyable if you like matured-style champagne. 91-92

All Stars: Fresh, fruity nose of peach, light brioche and yougurt. With time some honey comb notes appeared. Overall it is still young and enjoyable for its pleasant fresh kick, this bottle hasn't approached the stage of maturity, there's still some upwards potential.

Hmm, I don't get it. Seems like a poor cousin of Comtes or Dom. Frankly, I'd rather have a Bolly GA. Judgement reserved though as it's still a little tight. On this showing - merely 'nice'.

Fully ready, developed nose with ripe pears, hints of yeast, some oyster minerality. Harmonius and also fresh. Medium-fullish body. Qutie austere. Ripe apples. Very classic and balanced. Gentle brioche notes. The high acidity and good grip hints at a slightly furter cellaring is possible. But good now. Tasted blind, this was a high class middle of the road champagne, that maybe lacks some edge and personality.

Surprisingly developed already. This might have been an odd bottle because I am very disappointed. This wine is normally a top class champagne but now it delivers badly. There are no acidity to build on and should not improve with cellaring.

A more complex nose than the other wines in a small line-up of Deutz. Not very elegant for a vintage champagne, but 1999 was not a top year. The acid is not quite there on this wine and I doubt it has much aging potential. At peak and I would probably drink in the next year or two.

Wine Festival Tasting Room, quick notes. Fresh nose of crisp green apple and peach. Thick mousse, showing granny smith apple and pear on the palate. Lots of acidity that dances across the tongue. Good.
