Approx two years too early. Still young and have not developed the way the regular blanc has which I drank a month ago. Lots of green notes and bitter almond. Still needs time to develop. No rating at this stage.

A private dinner (Restaurant Taiko, Amsterdam, NL): Decanted at 7pm, served at 8.30pm. Two bottles with identical impressions. Initially discreet on the nose, needs time to open up. Concentrated and luxurious palate, and the considerable weight (14.5% ABV) is balanced by marvellous acidity which gives this big wine a sense of lightness, complex fruit flavours (citrus, peach, tropical fruit), deep minerality, excellent length. Great now, great future.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS; Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape (By VD and @ VD): Beautiful and complex bouquet with white and yellow fruits, some fennel, honey and some mineral impressions. Same on the palate, litchi, sage, honey and almonds. Very intense, full bodied and complex wine with probably a long future ahead.

Mostly CDP dinner (The Capital Grille at Tysons corner, VA): Expressive nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, peach, lychee, pineapple, mint, honey, sweet spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, nicely layered sweet yellow fruit, rich yet cool and nicely detailed, bright acidity, strong mineral, and long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with honey and sweet spices at the end. The fruit is more expressive and clearly defined compare to the 15.

Had this wine on Sunday lunch. Not sure what others mean on "dumb phase". It was quite tight when first open, yes, but it did wake up in the glass no problem no dumbness. I opened at 9am to try, found it tight but no fault, push the cork back and brought it to the restaurant. We did not even decant it, just allowed the wine naturally wake up in a burgundy glass to experience its "journey", like a lilly bloom from a bud. Lovely from the beginning to the last sip. Can surely last quite some more years but I won't wait til it's "aged", perfectly drinkable now if you give it some air.

Early dinner gathering (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Intense nose displaying ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, white peach, coconut, strong mint which is unusual for this wine, honey, sweet spices and limestone. Excellent concentration, opulent sweet yellow fruit, rich and dense but also showing good balance, bright acidity, strong mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with honey at the end. Drinking nicely.

Further to my initial note and bottle this still needs time. Initially once again I wasn’t overly convinced but after 90 mins decant it really did soften up and give off familiar characteristics.

Kleur: Middel strogeel. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Smaak / Afdronk: 18 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 96/100
Color: Medium straw yellow Aroma / bouquet: A strikingly ripe and very expressive bouquet with - for a relatively young wine - a striking complexity. Packed with juicy ripe pear, ripe peach and apricot, minerality, flowers, honey and fennel. After some time also candle wax and wax. Taste / Aftertaste: Everything about this Roussanne Vieilles Vignes is right, even on the palate. A soft, fresh acidity, some barrel tannins and an explosion of flavor due to the retronasal aromas in which the stone fruit, fennel and honey come out again. Thick juicy, long finish. General / potential: It is always interesting to drink a French cea wine from Roussanne. As far as I am concerned, this is a brilliant wine, already deliciously drinkable at the moment but with at least 10-15 years ahead. 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Taste / Finish: 18 + Overall / potential: 9 = 96/100

I'm not quite sure what to say except I was expecting a lot more from this. Over the course of two days this really expressed nothing. Very bland, simple, and lackluster. This was definitely not what I was hoping for or what I would expect from this wine.
I'm not going to rate it, but if I were it would get an 84. I'm hoping this was just an off bottle.
I think this is a good one. A touch muted maybe on the nose and palate but plenty of power, honey wax, possibly melon and certainly pear later on. Gave it about 90 mins decant. Something else I can’t put my finger on but saw one note that said fennel and in the early sips I think that may be spot on though changes later on. I’d say. 5 - 7 years is about the sweet spot to drink these with no risk of them going into that dark place. This one should be very good maybe in 18 months time onwards but let’s see. Lovely silky finish but can feel the alcohol especially as it warms. Maybe more of a 2013 rather than 12 ? Time will tell.

I think this is starting to get into a sleepy phase. I have always heard that these are best really young or with 15yrs of age. The last bottle I had a year ago was much more forthcoming and giving. This felt tight and you can really feel the alcohol. I think that at this point, it just needs some time.

This was a really interesting white as it was very tight when opened but then opened up beautifully over the coarse of dinner. Full of flavor but still relatively light, lots of fruit including citrus and hints of peach. Slight mineral notes throughout.
Informal dinner. Not detailed notes. Followed over three hours. As you can imagine this is quite the contrast to the Coche-Dury we had next to it. Thick, oily, lots of pineapple, white flowers, citrus, but good freshness which keeps it in balance. But don't drink it too warm or it gets heavy and cloying. Good white to pair with a multi-course meal as it can stand every kind of food. I had it back in September (conservative 95 points) and was impressed with its minerality and overall complexity. This wine felt quite different. Less alluring. Probably this Roussanne has now entered its intermediate stage and will only reach former glory once fully mature. 94 for all the stuffing and for the best moments that night.

Pale lemon. Bouquet of white flowers, focused though muted. White flower, white nectarine, mineral and aniseed palate. Off dry finish of caramalized apricot. Very delicate and refined, if lacking the punch of the 2012 and 2014 vintages at this stage. Drink with decant or hold for another year. 94

Great night with friends. No notes. Each wine had about 30 minute decant unless otherwise noted. No clue how to do user story. 2010 Schrader GIII, 2009 Abreau, 2013 Staglin, 2015 Beast, 2015 Maybach A, 2015 Lewis Cellars Syrah, 2016 Carter Las Piedras La Bam.
Wonderful wine that grew and grew over time. Not really a white wine guy but this is excellent. Paired with amazing homemade Korean food (with great spice this wine cuts right through and both enhance each other). Love the viscosity- tropical fruits, oak all leading to wonderful richness. Hard for any American whites to come close.
What will this evolve into over time- can’t wait to find out... but will my wine ADD allow me is the question.

Dense, opulent, sensuous, richly textured and layers with ripe, sweet, fresh tropical fruits, lemon zest, white peach, flowers and minerality. The wine has a lot of heft, but with all the acidity, it is also light on its feet. This should age for decades if you can find any. Only 500 cases, give or take.

Flott vin!
Much more restrained compared to the 2015 and 2014, almost Burgundian in style, but only almost as one senses the richness of the Sothern Rhône underneath. Displays white and green fruits, a touch of fennel as well. Leave this for now. Beaucastel evening chez Lillelunds.

Light white flower and white peach. First taste was soon after opening and was very closed. Subsequent tastings yielded a very well balanced taste with a light oily feel and a finish of honeysuckle with some fruit. This seemed so light on its feet and supremely balanced once it opens up it will be a stunning wine just too young now.
