Raveneau MdT and Chapelot (Chicago, IL): Luminous bottling. I didn't love this on release, but man this has gotten super impressive. Rounded, powerful, and rich, with clear delineation of red fruit and a broad, complex palate that also shows just the right amount of acidity to cut through all of that material. Sappy, rich, and powerful. This has developed very well. In my past experience, the Dom Rosé has always come off a bit steely on release, but a few years really does wonders.

Not a fan of the 2006 vintage for Champagne, but the 06 Dom was very good with strawberries, mousse and roses. Good vibrancy. Drinking well. Much better than the regular 06 DP. 92-93

I don’t know what I was expecting but this wine was different, very different from any champagne I’d had before. Tasting it blind the only giveaway that it wasn’t a red wine was the bubbles. The palate was so bold and pronounced ripe fruit and bright acidity. Such a beautiful bright burnt orange color(I’m not even sure that color exists). A nose of dried figs and espresso.

Tasted with TH Pan. A wine that requires a lot of air to show its true colors. I find this wine to be incredibly floral with much lighter and more elegant red fruits than one might expect. Beautiful.

2012 typical nose after oyster shell, toast, refreshing acidity, citrus, well drinkable at the moment. Dosage between 4-6g/L. I preferred against 2010. 96
2010 more reluctant compared to 2012, some exotic fruits, makes fun to drink it now. Not the potential as 2008. 93
2008 Still great to drink. Lush, exotic fruits, sea breeze, balanced, powerful, still fresh. Roasted almonds, salted caramell. 98
P2 2003 Feels broader than the P2 2002, less acidity, lots of mango and pineapple, less oyster shell than 2002. 94
P2 2002 more acidity than 2003, but my problem with this wine, it has an unnecessary high dosage. 95
P2 1998 More complex and structured than 2002 at the moment, some nice honey notes to give depth and creamieness. 96
Rose 2008 The nose is full of red berries and red apples, some black currant. A sublime champagne which will be released next week. Raspberry sirup but still elegant and powerful. 97
Rose 2006 For a 2006 good but no chance against 2008. Maybe a hint too alcoholic and the finish too short. 94
P2 Rose 1995 PN nose, comparable to a Musigny, smoky, flinty, balanced, at least 10 more years. 97
P3 1992 Unbelievable fresh, toasty, citric and just a touch of rostaed aromas. Nice 1992. 96

Extremely complex bouquet, notes of earthy red fruit and yeast. Earthy red cherry flavor with notes of strawberry, raspberry, red currant, and a faint hint of orange peel. Very long ripe cherry finish with some spice and yeast. Plenty of chalk and minerals on display. Extremely smooth and well balanced, with a nice core of acidity this will help this wine live a long time. Powerful, but nuanced, and constantly evolving — a chameleon in the glass, with flashes of this and that. Give this wine some time to breathe.
Absolutely delicious, but this is not my preferred style of rosé — this leans heavy, earthy and vinous. It is the antithesis of Krug Rosé, which I prefer more for the same price.
Beautiful to look at - a shimmering coppery orange. Looks like Lucozade original. Very fine prickly mousse that I associate with DP and the whole effect is fresh, clean and lively. It's just not very rose. Once again, I'm left yearning for the structure and beauty of the Comtes Rose 2007 or the sheer deliciousness of the Pol Roger Rose 2012. Blindfolded, I wouldn't pick this as a rose.

Salmon in colour, Medium+ nose intensity with notes of flora, roses, strawberry, toast, bread. Drank from flute, which probably explain the weaker nose intensity. Unfortunately drank the rose which was not chilled enough, affecting the taste.

Surprisingly linear. In my opinion it was nowhere near ready to drink, and for now is about 91+. The red wine content is a whopping 20% and, while it’s less tannic than that number might suggest, they're certainly detectable. Will wait at least 5 years to open my other bottle. The tannins and acidity should allow this to age well into the next decade.
IMO the QPR is at best questionable; won’t be buying more. This has put a bit of a damper on my expectations for the 2008 DP rosé, but I expect it will nevertheless be a better value.

Pinkish salmon color, great perlage. On the nose lots of toast, chalk, pink grapefruits. More evolved on the palate than the 2002 DP Rose so not sure of its longevity. Great champagne to pair with food, nice long buttery finish. For the price point I much prefer the 2002.

The fragrance is the best part - 2/3 red cherry, 1/3 strawberry. It smells sweet but it emphatically is not. While not sour, the acidity is quite strong. It’s pretty simple at this stage and doesn’t seem to have the mid palate stuffing to develop into one of the great Dom Pérignon Rosés such as ‘85 or ‘96. But it’s early days and Dom Pérignon is one of the slowest Rosés to mature fully.

A wow wine, big powerful yeast notes combine with floral notes, blood orange, sweet strawberry and sour cherry, big and round with sneaky acid underneath that's completely affable and hard not to like.

I think this needs another couple years to bloom in the bottle before it tastes like a rose of Dom as opposed to a nice rose champagne, as right now everything but the fruit is in the background. It's the kind of fruit profile I like on a rose, as it seems to have not much more than the minimum amount of red influence to cross the line into rose territory, just a nice little wisp of dry strawberry. Some of DP's toasty, metal-shaving signature emerges on the finish but frankly it was the bit of leftovers two days later that had mostly gone flat that showed the most personality and was damn impressive even as a still wine, sort of reminded me of a Heredia rosado, sans the oxidative element, in the way the rare bird of an ageable rose can develop into a nice pale meditative sipper.

Christmas 2020 with family in Cairns. This was a beautiful bottle of Dom with a deep cherry pink colour and a striking nose of freshly cut red cherries, wild strawberry, delicious apples, gingerbread and nougat. The palate is rich with Christmas cake characters balanced by juicy stone fruit and plenty of chalky grip and length. This really is a terrific bottle of Dom that shows no signs of tiring or of softness despite that attention grabbing red fruit on the nose and the palate as the opening gambit.

Second from my case and more or less the same note as October. I just can't get excited about this. It just seems dull and rather lifeless. Nothing to write home about, unlike the Comtes 07 rose and Pol Roger 2012 which are both stunning. Especially the Comtes

This drinks awfully easy for Dom Pérignon. Super juicy and super cherry fruity. While not sweet, the usual Dom Pérignon youthful austerity is nowhere to be found. Some of that is surely due to its being a Rosé but the ‘96 version was quite backward for a number of years. There’s no reason to age it but it verges on being candy. Delicious candy to be sure.

Very deep copper colour, like sherry with really only just a hint of pink in there. Indistinct nose - smells of Champagne. On the palate this is not really rose fruity, instead it's just a well behaved and mellow champagne which eyes closed, I certainly wouldn't have picked as a rose. The mousse is fine, prickly and mouth filling as I'd expect with DP and there's no denying this is a fine wine but I just can't get excited about it. It lacks the personality that the Taittinger Comtes 07 rose has in spades. Maybe this bottle wasn't 100%. Oh well, I'll just have to open another one.

This was also quite a stunner, more youthful, spicy, and bright character and more bubbles compared with the Krug Rose. Fine with a bit more zip, this showed strawberry shortcake, more dry extract, excellent chalky minerality. Oo Toro in Walnut.

See my note of July 2019. This bottle totally consistent, and a can’t miss for lovers of Rose bubbly. Some tasters are confusing “steeliness “ (good). with stemminess or bitterness of young burgundy (bad). That metallic quality is a beautiful foil for the subtle berry and plum skin notes. I had this w caviar on creme fraiche on small corn/zucchini fritters. Yummy.

Wow, this so good already there’s no need to wait. Gorgeous color, gorgeous fragrance redolent of dark cherry and raspberry. Active mousse yet not so explosive you have to wait for it to settle down to start drinking it. Full bodied, lots of fresh red fruit flavor; no chance of mistaking this for the Blanc. Not sweet but not bone dry either. Gulpably delicious.

Brilliant salmon pink color with minimal effervescence.
Nose hint of wax, red berries.
Palate deep, red berries with hints of citrus pith, mineral.
Very enjoyable and goes quickly with Maine-style casual seafood takeout, but not sure about the QPR...
Day 2, more open. Black cherries on nose and palate, a silky texture, great depth, some minerals. Wonderful, shows its class. Still obviously young and would benefit from at least a few years to knit together. 95 pts with upside

On the nose this is first super ‘06 DP with chalky, sharp, and powerful but tightly wound character, but then it is massively berry with a distinct reductive Pinot profile that is quite unique and impressive. Like, glimpses of a young somewhat stemmy red burgundy. Umami even. Copper and salmonberry colour. The palate is loads of raspberry upfront but a more white fruited dry back palate and finish. Some fruity Flinstone’s vitamins and crushed rocks, but with depth, not in a grower sort of way. Expansive and surprisingly open-knit palate, maybe more so than ‘06 Blanc right now? Full, complete, and straightforwardly delicious. Wow this is flavor country, don’t sleep on rosé. 93 - 94.

HDH auction at Spiaggia (Chicago, IL): For my taste, a little steely, though not like the 2004 on release. Very rich and thickly textured now, this needs more time to soften up. I particularly like the expression of red fruit here, which actually sweetens up with extended air. I'd recommend a decant if drinking this now.

Decanted and consumed over two hours. Improved with air. Bright salmon pink. Aromas of salty air with a touch of oyster shell. Creaminess almost immediately gives way to chalk and a salinity that is slightly bitter, with the slightest touch of red berry on a long lingering finish. Moderate+ complexity. Medium body. Lots of structure. Still young, but drinkable. I think this is years away its potential. I will revisit in 2025. 92-95. Note: bottle was stored on its side and the cork has completely lost its elasticity.

A unique vintage - a year that they opened the Pinot Noir winery. A beautiful spice quality to it. Rochard apparent said this was the pinnicle of his career making Dom Rose. Apparently to pair with grilled red meat. A clean cut on the back as well.

Still so very young, but gorgeous. Explodes in the mouth with creamy richness, almonds, rose custard, and steely salinity. Fine active mousse. The 56% Pinot Noir is perfectly balanced by the chardonnay. Every bottle of this will be wonderful for 30 years or more, at any stage of its life. Peak, I imagine in 5-7 years. Worked beautifully with apps at Takashi: caviar, fois, uni, nori, and tartare. Held up to grilled marinated sweetbreads as well. Great special occasion wine!

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and medium sized bubbles.
Dry on the palate with lemons, raspberries, strawberries, spices, earth, minerals, green apples, herbs and white pepper.
Nice finish with bitter herbs.
This 16 year old Rosé Champagne still feels very young and fresh. Not as much yeast /bread notes as I expected at this point.
Well balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and drinks very nicely now.
Needs an hour to open up properly, and better when not too cold.
Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.
A great sipping wine, and good with food too. Spicy, rich and entertaining.
12.5% alcohol by volume.

Der beste Champagner den ich bisher trinken durfte. Unglaublich lecker. Ich mag natürlich Rose.

Excellent rose, crisp, whisper of strawberry and red clay dust, bright, mineral. Wonderful mouthfeel and taste!

My marker for this one: aperol spritz! Orange rind on the nose and very citric on the palate as well (grapefruit). Rich, yeasty, Dom P. Awesome minerality in the finish.

Wines with the HDH Auction (Spiaggia): Full rich but non-delineated nose of earth and red berries. The palate has significant concentration and density. Mouthcoating with plenty of energetic bead. Should be a great Dom Rose.

I found this to be drinking fabulously. Much better than other CT reviews suggest. Fresh, vibrant, layers of complex flavors, and a deep wild salmon color that draws you in. Creamy and smooth finish. I loved it.

This was nice as well although on the heels of the P2 '98 it's not really in that league. It's enjoyable. Reasonable fruit, still tight, comes across as young, but it is quite young.

Stunning even at this early stage, managing somehow to be both creamy and precise, with a tart, taut mouthfeel and great persistence. Over time, this should evolve from a delicious powerhouse to something even more sublime.
