Lovely nose of red fruit, underwood, cherries, and spices. Good acidity with tart berries and medium weight on the palate. Nice finish. A great Beaujolais made in a more Burgundian style that has aged beautifully. There are no signs of decline whatsoever, I would love to see how this continues to evolve with time...

This is one of those wines that confounds the 100 point scoring scale. Is it a 100 point wine? nah. There are wines, plenty of ‘me, that are more complex, more profound, more weighty, etc. But do I want anything more from a 14 year-old Fleurie than what is in this bottle? Hell no. There’s soft red fruit, some florals, velvety palate presence. Just great stuff that continues to drink beautifully and seems in no danger of decline anytime soon.

Pretty incredible - this is very juicy and primary, but in a fresh forest strawberry kind of way. I've had a few 05 burgs this year that are already venturing well into the earthy part of their development so this really stands up well as a great wine to drink slightly chilled on a warm spring day. Seems like it has much life left despite its delicacy but highly recommended to enjoy now.

Deep cherry fruit and mineralogy. Some significant tannin still. A lovely drink now (with Rotisserie chicken tonight) but Iexpect it to evolve positively over the next few years.

Really lovely, still quite youthful with very fresh, pure red berried fruit tinged with savoury earthy notes, polished, light and graceful on the palate and drinking very nicely now, though the fruit and acidity suggests there's no rush here.

Rather sleepy-dozy on opening, but flares up brilliantly with generous air: keen-edged, minerally, acidic, with ample fruit and discreet, fine-grained tannic structure. About unbeatable with pan-fried beef filet.

Young but opening somewhat with two-hour decant. Very nice with NY strip steak.
Second day, smoothed out and better aromatics, though still with some tension and reserve. This wine sneaks up on you, because it lacks dramatic features that stick out, but as you drink it, its harmony, discreet flavors, and refined tannins reveal themselves bit by bit, until you realize you have a wine of some beauty in your glass.

Really good, and aromatically this is quite open. The mouth is superb also, but after an hour of air the structure does clamp down on the finish a bit. I think holding this for another 2-3 years would be optimal, but it is plenty delicious now.

Superb. Fresh, ripe red berried fruit combining with savoury earthy and crackery flavour elements in a seamless, polished package that conveys flavour and depth with the silken touch and finesse I'd expect in a good Chambolle-Musigny.

this is a solid cru beaujolais. the color is a plumy red, vibrant, coating the glass. earthy nose of cherry, blackberry and black and red currents. the taste. mid-weight wine, some spice on the end, otherwise good fruit throughout.

Light color, purple hue, low to moderate extraction. On the nose just loaded with violets and dark fruits... a hint of background minerality, and no obvious new oak barrique notes. On the palate high acidity, moderate breadth, fresh and firm midpalate that transitions quite nicely into a low tannin finish... alcohol perceived about 13. Very nice balance, low to moderate length and complexity, moderate intensity. Wine certainly has finesse, a very fine texture, and is very true to its Fleurie-ness. Overall a very serious wine from Beaujolais that isn't all fleshy and flabby like so many from the "big" producer... wouldn't age it and think it is about as good as Fleurie gets... very feminine and pretty but serious.

Nose has notes of leafy, bright strawberries, as well as the candied tart notes of pixie sticks or sour dip candies. Flavors of ripe strawberries or raspberries, with a little bit of dirt on the finish.

Yummy mix of juicy ripe red fruit, tart cranberry, earth, and herbs. Very refined and well integrated with extremely fine tannin and plenty of acidity. Shows more depth and minerality on Day 2. Lovely. Drink or hold

A year later, this is showing much more. Strawberry , some spice, and a little heat on the nose still. In the mouth, more open than a year ago with more fruit, but still showing good structure from the acidity and even some tannin. Very nice and still improving.

if i tasted this blind i would think it a light young drinking Burgundy pinot. the aromas include crushed strawberries and leafy earth, very pure and refined. there is a cooling quality to the nose. i really love this wine - what would the Tardive be like in 05???? this is outstanding cru Beauj in 05 right here.

Classic Fleurie from a fine vintage. Almost Burgundy in depth of color. Sweet cherries on the nose. Ripe and round on the palette with sweet red fruits and no harsh tannins or tartness. Soft, velvety and feminine as a Fleurie should be. Gentle but with pletty of stuffing with ripe Gamay fruit from this excellent vintage. Not exceptionally complex but perfectly balanced with a long finish. This bodes well for the longevity of the more robust Beaujolais Cru from Morgon and Moulin-a-Vent. An excellent beaujolais for summer consumption.

Popped and poured as a pre-dinner drink...On the nose I picked up some gentle red fruit, maybe strawberry, maybe some cherry. This wine tastes like a "baby Burgundy", soft smooth and elegant...still a little closed (maybe due to just popping and pouring), can taste soft red fruit with just a hint of some interesting pepper or spice...good amount of acidity and a nice smooth finish...I think this will even taste better after a little more aging (and or aerating) At the price I would definitely buy more and will hold for a little bit....

Empty nose for the first hour, then opens to show sweet cherry and cake dough. The palate is backward and closed though. Back goes the cork and overnight the wine is much more open, and my initial impression of sweet fruit is gone with something more complex now. There is red cherry and a little sour cranberry, and now hints of black pepper and herbs show up as the wine opens. Still a little austere in the mouth, with typical 2005 tannins but they are very fine grained and not at all rustic. Also good acidity and lift. Very good and enjoyable now, but I think has even more to give in a few years.

This is Gamay? Tastes better than a lot of more expensive Burgundy that I've had before. Beautiful fresh cherry and strawberry fruit. Bright acidity makes a good match with food. I will buy more of this.

A Bevy of 2005 Beaujolais: Medium dark ruby. Nose leans to strong black cherry tones, but develops a nice floral overlay. Good concentration of black fruits, but the acidity here is too tart and gives the wine an astringent, thin mouth feel that just does not support the fruit.

Fresh, lively nose with red fruits, a little bit of tutti fruiti, even an unexpected note of espresso. Bracing acidity in the finish. Made in traditional burgundy style, not carbonic maceration. There's more depth than you'd expect but not enough that you'd confuse it with anything else.

$19.99 retail, before discount. Brief note: I was even more impressed with this bottle than my first bottle of the '05 tasted about a week ago (see TN). It has an impressive core of dark cherry fruit and minerality. Nice weight / concentration and balance. Excellent cru Beaujolais. I'll be stocking up on this and look forward to seeing what happens to it over the next 5-8+ years in the cellar..

the one descriptor that comes to mind is "life-affirming." Then again, maybe I'm just a little tipsy. There is definitely some baby fat, but it's a little coy and just enough to give the wine enough plushness on the midpalate to resemble a good red Burgundy. The nose is all cherry and violets and on the palate a little sense of pepper and supporting acidity gives it some spiciness and lift. The finish is unusually long and at the end you get some tannic grip that promises an interesting life ahead for this wine. This wine reminds me a lot of what had been until this year the greatest cru Beaujolais I had ever tasted---the 2004 Fleurie from Terres D'Orees.

Somewhat closed aromatically at first. A couple hours of air saw this open up considerably. Nothing showy about the nose - rather refined, dark cherry fruit. On the palate, again, quite a serious style of Beaujolais. Mineral core, lightly smokey, dried cherry, soy sauce. Nice balance. Very impressive. I would think this has excellent short / mid-term cellaring potential and will improve considerably - especially from an aromatic perspective.
