  • Dark cherries, wild strawberries, ripe blueberries, young plum and some nice spices and herbs on the palate. Tannins feel smooth and are nicely integrated. Super complex fruit structure and a great overall complexity. Quite modern and fruit driven style. It was surprisingly open but nevertheless I would suggest to give it a few more years in the cellar. Not the best Echézeaux from DRC I had but a great one. Was reasonably priced at the restaurant. (IG)

What a nose upon opening, extremely complex with roasted herbs, black cherry, blackberry, smoke, cedar and hazelnut.
After an hour or so, the fruit turned red, ending up with the freshest wild strawberries with a backdrop of lemon curd. So incredibly harmonious and smooth with depth of aromas for days.

At first, the palate was slightly monolithic with dark fruits and a hint of bitterness. However, after 1.5 hours, it showed superb dusty tannins with so much lift and grace and a growing finish ending with sweet orange notes.

The nose was exceptional, the palate was very good, reminds me of a slightly less concentrated version of the 19.

  • echezeaux night. ranked #3 of the night. bottle decanted for 3 hours. very open, very approachable and drinkable. it's even more smooth compare to the 14 echeaezux but less tanning.

  • No.03608/15467

  • Tete de Cuvee Rose Tasting (Brookhaven, GA): Juicy red and dark fruit, grapey and so youthful, violets, pepper, plum, powerful, some stem, meaty, fine yet tight tannic structure, blue fruit, powerful and not super expressive very near a pop and pour; structured and powerful this was much younger than another bottle several months ago.

  • Elegant, lifted stem floral aromatics. Sweet, delineated palate. (3086/15467)

  • 02255/15467. Compared to the 69 on the side, this shows polished new-vintage nose, candied red fruit, rose, silky on the palate, definitely more accessible than the 17 GE (mag) last year and showing how Eche is now more than ever closer to GE. 93-94

  • A private tasting and dinner (Restaurant Fitzgerald *, Rotterdam, NL): Bottle No. 09566 / 15467. Very elegant and expressive, wonderful 2017 elegance, hint of undergrowth, red berries and flowers, Vosne spices and the typical DRC orange zest, silky and flowing, beautifully integrated tannins, long and layered, dreamy finish with a delicious whiff of oak. Youthful but already extremely attractive.

  • Fragrant and very beautiful nose with red cherries, spices, wild strawberry, forest notes, a bit of underwood, and quite obvious stem influence. The palate is perfectly balanced with lovely spice notes coming through along with red fruit flavors and berries. It's complex and nuanced and the finish is long. Incredible how such a young wine can be so balanced and enjoyable now. It feels velvety smooth, but with great complexity, interesting flavors, and great elegance. A pleasure to drink. 95++

  • Extremely pretty wine. Very much DRC with lots of aromatic pleasure. Lightly bodied and lacking the tannic structure of GE, this 17 delivers immense pleasure now. Beautiful

  • In a 10/12/17 vertical flight. Not surprisingly a bit behind the 10, but to me it more than held its own. There is an interesting oily texture in this bottle that doesn't show itself in the other vintages.

  • This was singing tonight. Beautifully finessed sweet red fruit and spice. Best bottle yet. I actually kind of preferred this to the 01 Leroy BM. Wait, what and I saying …

  • Small taste last night, note from memory. Bright red fruit wonderfully spiced. Or particularly powerful, but long and persistent.

  • This really takes a good 5 hours to get going but once it does, beautiful floral and red fruit notes with plenty of spice

  • Aromas of matchstick, strawberry, cherry, rhubarb and Asian spice. Nose is crazy. Flavors of cherry, strawberry, iron, root vegetables and earth. Ends with a 40-45 second finish with cherry notes.

  • Complete DRC Vintage Horizontals 2017 vs 2018: Since Covid didn’t allow for a proper arrivage tasting last year, we tasted the 2017s in direct taste-offs vs their 2018 counterparts this year. All bottles were opened a few hours earlier, not decanted but we got enough time to follow each wine over 45+ minutes in the glass which allowed for proper aeration and analysis. A few observations: 1) The 2017s are disarmingly easy to drink, charming, soft and open. 2) The 2018 show more depth but will need more time to flesh out, open up and become rounder. 3) Best ever Cortons. Slowly but surely they grow into their allocation (not market) price. 4) The showstopping RSVs edge out the Richebourgs with the purest fruit expression vs raw and today a bit unintegrated power. 5) The La Taches and RCs are playing in their own category in terms of complexity but the RCs are a bit closed. 6) The Montrachets are fabulous with a sharp, complex and complete 2017 as a consensus WOTN and a 2018 which is a bit broader but still amazing.

TN: Expressive nose with lots of red and dark berries, stems, smoke and minerality. Lot more powerful compared to the Corton in the previous series and more open than the 2018 Echezeaux and both GEs in the next series. Very soft, round and harmonious on the palate with fresh strawberries? Candied red fruit, sous bois, minerality, hints of cola. Fairly good precision, good mid palate weight, fine structure, medium+ length, quite complete. Overall, clearly better today than the 2018 which might have more depth but is rather muted today and with a touch too much ripeness.

  • Yes, it is young but very approachable now and we wanted to give it a try. Consumed along with 14 RSV, 04 RSV and other great burgs. 2-3 hour decant and we let her rip. Shows well now and I expect will go for a very long time and improve along the way.

  • Best of the best: Otrolig doft!

  • Is 2017 young to drink DRC? Sure. But with a terrific price on the list and 2014 being corked, 2017 to the rescue! 2017 is still insanely expressive and welcoming even at this stage with its expansive and velvety texture, elite depth and riveting energy and concentration. It has impeccable balance and an ultra persistent finish, surely to be a star as it further develops and gains complexity. This is my 3rd time having 2017 DRC, and all have been pretty darn accessible. Even La Tâche. There’s no wrong time to drink DRC 💫
