Chunky but true Cote de Beaune. Ruby color. The nose is loaded with cerise noir, warm earth and a touch of rubber. This is a big, beefy burgundy. Perfect for rich fall flavors - just don’t expect a lot of elegance or nuance. Good. (88)

So I bought a case of this on release and promptly forgot about it. I opened a bottle tonight wanting one more glass before bed thinking it would be well past it’s prime and ready for the vinegar jar. Boy was I wrong. The light ruby color did not prepare me for the richly fruity and savory Pinot nose. Not a lot of complexity but lovely fruit purity. Solid with a well put together finish. Going strong though I won’t push my luck much further. Pretty great party wine. Sneaky serious but so pure it is a crowd pleaser. (88)

at a blind tasting: Deeper color for a burgundy, many thought "California" style; mild aromas, hints of rich dark cherry, some wood elements; richer in body, soft, smooth, more earth and wood than fruit, tannins resolved (light), med(-) body, med(+) acid, so still lively and good with food.

Beautiful true ruby color. Very fresh, red berry fruit on the nose - starting to mature but juicy nonetheless. Silky, medium bodied wine that has no rough edges. Refined and delicious. There is enough extract to really make this a winner for its price point. (90)

This was in a slightly strange place right now; The palate had distinct tones of charred oak which overtook the pleasant dark fruits underneath, while the tertiary aromas and flavors have not yet emerged; Not sure this will get any better with time

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs and Day 2, bottle from secondary market -med dark red, minimal edge clearing -slightly reticent funk rich earthy cherry -med/med+ acidity, lighter weight with med concentration silky mouthfeel, simple pleasant faded cherry on top of a somewhat bitter earth base, noticeable sweet oak on moderately long finish with mostly resolved tannins; more depth and character on day 2 -pleasant, drinking well now with fruit starting to turn to some tertiary development, surprisingly this hasn't absorbed the oak as well as some of the more recent less concentrated vintages

This time the nose was much more of a black raspberry, dark cherry, spice, and oak spice. Good concentration but again it seems in a phase where the fruit is subdued and the oak a bit over the top 'interesting for a Chorey where I expect a more fruit driven wine. Kind of a village level Gevrey or Beaune mix. Interesting but a bit off. Seems part of the evolution. What surprises me is that I would think that the wine should be showing up now for a Chorey. Not shutting down. I may not be around long enough for the 2005's to be at there apogee at this point.

Very odd. Still a concentrated nose but on this bottle the fruit seemed absent and the nose was more wood than cherry. Concentrated nose but all wood with hint of dark cherry. On taste flavors falling off on the mid palate and the oak making its presence felt. In an odd state now. Long finish but had to try to get the wood splinters out. Hope its an off bottle or I just don't understand how Chorey is evolving.

The nose is more burgundy than the 06. Bit of reduction and slightly earthy notes. Light and complex aromas rise from the glass. On taste more elegant than the 06 with a silky taste and finish. A firmer spine of tannin. Shows very nice balance and gives a good example of the 05 and 06 vintage differences in comparison.

Seems to be rounding out nicely. Still needs some time, maybe another year or two, but this will be one of those wines they'll open at some tasting seventy years from now and they'll be surprised that there's still some life to it. Like others on cellartracker have noted, it truly has a splendid color to it-- "burgundy," I would call it-- and the nose kept opening up during the course of the pop-and-pour experience during dinner. Raspberries and cherries with a little bit of spice. Not profound, but a great QPR at under $20.

Vinturi'd and decanted for two hours. Bright fuscia color, with equally bright raspberry and tart cherry fruit aromas. Also, a little reluctant earthy and spice notes with some vanilla. On the palate, the tart cherries really come through in the middle and the finish. Nice minerality and acidity, that makes this just delicious. Otherwise, there's not much going on, flavor-wise. Nothing negative to say about this wine, but not much about it that really shakes my tree. But, for $19, this is a very pleasant wine.

This bottle is MUCH better, confirming that my last bottle was corked. This is still pretty simple...and "pretty" is a key characteristic. Pretty dried florals/herbs, rose water, raspberry/cherry fruit, some earth dust. Nice tart orange/grapefruit acidity, faint sandalwood spice. Simple, yet really hit the spot when I was looking for something "lite and fruity". Much better than the last bottle.

Brilliant Ruby color, transparent. Nice nose of cherry, strawberry, oak spice and minerals. Smooth, mid weight on the palate with flavors of cherry, strawberry, minerals and a hint of spice, fairly easy tannins that are a bit rustic, but nice length on the finish. A nice easy drinking pinot that has good burgundy character at a very reasonable price.

This was like the experience of arriving a bit too early for a date and catching the girl by surprise and unprepared - running up the stairs, one shoe missing, hair akimbo, no lipstick, obviously flustered. This raspberry red lady was rather volatile on opening - mixed berries, acetone, attic dust. Fortunately this blew off in 20 or 30 minutes as she got her act togetherthen presented herself all pretty, with sweet perfume and finery on. There were strawberry and cherry aromas, some high toned lavendar and spice, a bit of mushrooms. Friendly mouthfeel, a bit too tart at first, but that seemed to temper over time. Quite tasty, though finicky. My last, but if I had more would probably give it another 6-12+ months to integrate further.

Hmmmm, could be corked? Smell of wet cardboard, musky...in the mouth, the same. Aside from that...could be some Burgundy complexity ;-)....very high toned sour cherry, raspberry fruit, some dried green tea leaves, earth dust, floral rose petals. Does show some nice delicate nuances.......I'll come back to this in an hour.
Well, after an hour, and a bottle of 2005 Verget Meursault....I think this wine is a little corked, but still posses a pleasing high toned red fruit and earth spice in a simple Burgundy way. Would like to see how a good bottle does....could be at least 5+pts higher.

Earthy and musty nose with some smokey raspberry and cranberry fruits mixed in. The fruits were fresh and zingy carried by some good acidity and minerality, followed by some nice earthy spices and herbs. A nice bottle of Pinot in the $24 range, but nothing to get really excited about. Didn't match well with the grilled pork despite the earthy and herbaceous rub. The Silvaner Halbtrocken was a much better match.

Very much not open for buisiness. Raspberries, very high acidity, close to hostile. Reminds me more of window cleaner than wine to be honest. But there is something there that tells me than this can be good in a few years time. Good Bourgogne can be undrinkable young and still turn out fantastic.

Transparent cranberry color. Nose of smoke, black cherries, and some spice. On the palate, this is reticent, with a plum, currant, tart cherry and smoke primary impression that is followed by a closed down mid-palate and finish that acts like Houdini, appearing to escape from the straitjacket at the last moment. Structurally, the components are there, but the fruit is in hiding right now, making this the wrong time to open this one up.

Hard to score at this point, seemed rather tight, even for a light-bodied wine. Definitely needs air, I'd give this at least a 3 hour decant. Nice minerally/cherry aspect on the nose after a couple hours, with a light - but penetrating depth of cherry fruit. Definitely worth $17.

Lighter body with some good red fruit, brambly forest floor, fairly high acidity and a stemmy green note in the mid palate. I enjoy this style of Burgundy and found this a good value for around $21.

Similar to my negative experience with the 2005 Jadot Clos des Ursules. It's very possible these wines are in an in-between phase right now. This Drouhin wine seemed thin and acidic to me. My mouth was actually puckering, eyes squinting, a couple times. Quite tannic, which I like, but the fruit seemed green to me. I'll hold my others for ten years, like the Ursules. It was a chalenge to drink this wine. Can't agree with David Schildnecht's 90-point rating, at least not at this point. But, it may get better with age. Rating: 86 points.

(at Trois – Atlanta) Wow – what a great value. Lovely cherry ruby color with fresh pinot flavors. Balanced, harmonious throughout. Good flavor concentration but no heaviness whatsoever. This was fine to drink now (although primary) and should be delicious to follow over the next 10 years. Certainly one of my favorite values of the vintage so far. (90)

Drank a few days ago and didn't make notes. Basically remember a well balanced, medium bodied, pleasant wine with a touch too much alcohol. The thing that stood out the most was a wonderfully intense farm fresh strawberry aroma that came when decanting.

Served at cellar temp ( a little cool, but preferrable to me than the more normal 70°), it showed bright and crystalline clear, maybe just a tad thin at first sip but it developed much more fruit and concentration as it warmed. Black and red cherry fruit, a little smoke, nice meaty note in the background. Bright acidity, some ripe tannins, good depth for the village. B+/A-

Didn't like it at all the first night.
If that is what they mean by delicate, That is not for me.
Found it flat and one dimentional, like so many (non Grand Cru) burgs.
the next day it was much better.
if you have a bottle, make sure you decat for 3+ hours.

Nice nose, cherry, mineralic, floral hints, tobaco. Tanins dominating the palate, good acidity. Will improve in 2 or 3 years.

Very nice bottle. Especially considering the reasonable price. Tannic, tones of cherry, leather, tobacco, notes of oak. I will try this again in a year or two.

Rather nice. Bright acidity, tight structure, firm body. A off alcoholy note in the middle is the only flaw.

Cherry, crushed rock, pleasant mid-palate, nice balance, and a nice long complex finish. Really nice.

Enjoyable, but not terribly complex. At $20, a good value.

Excellent and a great value in '05 Burgundy. This is sure to improve, but it's delicious now. A bit high-toned on the nose, but full and complete on the palate, Long, building finish. Surprising complexity
