Wow! Has this aged beautifully! Rich, complex and sophisticated. Had with friends who couldn't believe how good it is. The dry "edge" is gone and replaced with soft fruit but nothing flabby. Held up well with a variety of foods. It may get better but this bottle was superlative.

Nose: Green apple. Pear. Slight petrol notes. Dry. Green apple and lemon really come through on the palate. Some minerality in there. High acid. Long finish. Good little dry Riesling from the finger lakes. Would drink again.

Aromas of creme fraiche, lime zest, salinity, ocean air, just a hint of petrol starting to show, minerality shining through. Surprising creaminess to the mouthfeel, medium body? Depth of flavor is impressive. Baked tart green apple, key lime, whipped cream, wet slate minerality. Excellent showing from Ravines, and this one should continue to develop with time, still high acidity

Light gold color with an intense blast of citrus aroma on the first swirl. A bit of a sour note on first taste, but seemed to burn off with some air. Paired quite nicely with some chicken tikka masala.

Had with both mild and spicy Thai food and the combo was perfect. At cellar temp (not too cold), nice to sip. Light body with tons of mineral plus good fruit. but the acid and structure pair so well with spicy Asian food!

I've stocked up on this for a reason: every bottle gets a bit better. The fruit and mineral are so well balanced, esp. for a wine that is very dry. Very enjoyable to sip; goes well with Asian food, can even pair with chicken, etc. Great stuff!

had with Asian food and, as usual, it was great! Continues to improve; nice mineral, citrus and even a bit of stone fruit on the nose; dry, mineral driven palate with plenty of acid and a bit of citrus to cut through spicy foods.

I opened this bottle thinking it was the Ravines White Springs Riesling. Initially opened and poured a glass at current cellar temp; probably above 60 degrees. It was great; softer with more fruit even though it is mineral driven. Had later with dinner after being in the fridge for a while, so cooler but nowhere near fridge temp. Still great, even better than previous bottles (which I've enjoyed a lot). So either temp is really critical or this vintage is getting better fast. Either way, quite an education!

Having gone to school in the Finger Lakes region, I purchased this bottle out of curiosity. If I was served this blind, I would guess Alsatian Riesling due to a lack of electric acidity. It doesn’t present itself as German, but it is a nice everyday bottle. The wine has yellow apple aromas and a mineral finish.

Continues to get better and better. Had with Asian food and it paired great with both spicy and not spicy dishes. Definitely mineral driven but really nice stone fruit on the nose (peach) and citrus notes (lime) on the palate (along with the mineral). Bone dry with just the right amount of acidity to pair with food. Nice to sip as well. What's not to like?

Had with spicy chinese food: a perfect pairing. The mineral driven Riesling cuts through the spice and fat as a perfect counterpoint. Wine is extremely well balanced between fruit, mineral, acid. Nice complexity on the palate with medium finish.

Retail $18. DIAM10 closure. I have been to the Finger Lakes a few times now and every time I visit I find a winery that surprises and I compare it against…Ravines. Sure, there are a few such standard setters in the region, but Ravines is always right there near or at the top. While all of the wines are top-notch, Riesling, of course, is *the* wine of the appellation and Ravine’s iteration (for under twenty bucks) is simply stellar. Just a hint of color in this bright wine, with aromas of white peach, lime rind, wet rock, white acacia, and a lovely hazelnut aspect. The palate is equally compelling with lovely fruit, a tangy acidity (8.2 g/l, 3.18 ph), and while it comes off completely dry, the touch of residual sugar (only 4 g/l) softens that sharpness just a shade. This is fantastic now, but I would love to revisit in a decade or so.
Had at Lime rock with friends. Opened a Standing Stone 2019 Riesling before this one; lots of contrast but both extremely nice. SS is fruit forward; Ravines much dryer though plenty of fruit. Mineral and citrus notes on the nose and palate. A great food wine though it served us well as an aperitif.

My favorite vintage so far for this wine (and I've tasted/bought all for 10+ years). More fruit and mineral, a touch less astringency than previous vintages. Great with spicy and flavorful foods; even OK to sip which wasn't the case with earlier vintages.

This is much fruitier (riper) than the Agricolae of the same vintage we had a few nights ago, with some sweet yellow apple but especially white peach and hints of white flowers. Still solid (M to M+) acid though less than the Agricolae, with a fuller body and slightly waxy mouthfeel. Like the Agricolae this improves with an hour of air, gaining salinity (less than the Ag), rocks/streamwater, and a licorice note.
This one feels more akin to Alsace than Germany. It’s decent, a fair value and food flexible, but not much personality. Good enough for entry level bottle at the price. 5.9/10

Light yellow color. Wow, these aromas pop! Peaches, limes, papaya, topped in white flowers, slate, minerals, mountain streams and crushed rocks. Precise acidity frames this wine beautifully, racy but juicy, with pretty lime, papaya and kiwi fruit. Perfumed with floral tones, too. Mineral City – Population: This Riesling. Wow, so much chalk, minerals, mountain stream. Precise and deep but so vibrant, this is a gnarly Finger Lakes Riesling that should age wonderfully. 52% White Springs Vineyard grapes and 48% from 16 Falls Vineyard, 3 g/l residual sugar.

My favorite vintage of Morten's dry riesling: just enough fruit to balance the mineral and the dryness. One touch short of puckering so it is still dry! Great mineral notes on the nose along with hints of citrus. Great balance on the palate with more mineral, citrus and stone fruits. Holds up extremely well to spicy foods.

An aromatic wine evoking thoughts of guava, lemon-lime soda, gardenia and mild crushed rock. The fruit is wonderfully ripe on the palate, backed by high acidity. The finish is moderately long and reveals a bit of petrol. A super value

Had several bottles of this already and it is amazingly durable - it will still be amazing after being opened for 4 or 5 days. I wouldn't call this bone dry but it's much closer to the dryness I'm used to with Australian rieslings. It has good acid to match. Nose of caramel apple. Mouth is like sucking the juice out of a ruby red grapefruit with the addition of kiwi fruit, lanolin and lemon butter. Big finish of passionfruit, lemon Skittles and has impressive height. Very moreish. I'm assuming this will age well into the double digits and may even warrant a higher score in years to come.

The lemon/lime and citrus is starting to come to the forefront. Backbone of minerality, with some Riesling diesel starting to poke out a little. Lots of acid, lots of bitter pith, very well structured. Recently had the 2010, and it was still delicious. These could use a bit of time to unwind, but they're a delicious example of FLX riesling now.

Very nice, very dry mineral driven Riesling. But this vintage has a bit more fruit showing vs earlier years, which is a good thing. Very well balanced. Moderate mineral nose with citrus notes, same on the palate with good acidity. Great with Asian food, esp. spicy dishes.

One of the things I've noticed about better Finger Lakes rieslings, of which this is one, is a consistent savory/herbal note that plays an initial leading role on the palate. Definitely shows up here before transitioning to notes of ripe apple and lemon, with a nice balance of sweetness and minerality lingering on the medium finish. Acidity is on point, and while off-dry to me, there's a healthy dose of complexity overall.

Really nice (very dry) Riesling that pairs incredibly well with Asian food; spicy or not. Our go to for those occasions and others. A bit on the dry side to sip but not as much as earlier vintages; just enough fruit to be pleasant, esp. if not too cold. Great body, acid and structure on the palate. Very impressive; doubly so at this price.

Pale lemon. On the nose medium minus intensity of citrus, green apple, stone fruit, minerality, hint of petrol. On the palate the wine is dry with medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, medium minus body and medium intensity of lemon, ripe green apple, peach, minerality. The finish is medium minus. The wine is a light and pleasant, lovely for the summer and paired well with Asian meal.

I must be missing something here, because all I get are a few generic citrus notes, moderate minus complexity (and that’s being kind), and moderate finish. There’s nothing especially interesting or memorable here. Update (1 hr later): it’s possible the wine was too cold when I initially drank it. After warming up, it’s becoming fuller and more expressive; softer, I’m getting that hint of residual sugar others have mentioned, and more lemon notes. I still wouldn’t buy it again, but it’s not terrible.

Impressive considering it will only get better with time. When first opened, big mineral nose, as it warms, fruit shows up with layers of peach and lime. Very dry, almost astringent on the palate, also softens as it warms. Definitely better when not at refrig temp. Palate has citrus notes with pear overtones. Good acidity with food; holds up particularly well with spicy food. Very well balanced.

Another great Riesling vintage from Ravines. Initially somewhat closed and definitely needs to be warmer than refrigerator. Nose and palate both show nice mix of pear and lime. Nice balance of acid on the palate, holds up well with food and still pleasant to sip. Should improve with age; was actually better the second day.

Another hit from Ravines: lots of structure and body to cut through spicy food; paired very well with Thai food. Combo of mineral and fruit on the nose. On the palate, apple and lime notes with plenty of mineral. Fresh and young; should age very well.

Had with Chinese food. Really nice: dry but fruit comes through without any sweetness; plenty of minerality as well. Mineral nose with hints of lime; good acidity on the palate; really great food wine. Later vintages of Ravines Dry Riesling seem are more approachable than earlier ones that are (extremely) bone dry.

A little residual sugar present. Ravines refrained from doing this a few years ago, but as against this as I claim to be, I think this is good for the wine. Especially when drunk young. Great fruit, well balanced, and blessed with lip smacking acidity.Petrol notes in the background. Dry Riesling is the future poster child of Finger Lakes winemaking.

Quite nice. Far more giving than some prior vintages where I found this bottling to be a bit austere and just ripping acid. But for 17, this is far more accessible and even showed slight petrol note on the nose already.

July 2019 Trip to the Finger Lakes; 7/27/2019-7/28/2019 (Seneca Lake): Tasted at the winery, side-by-side with the 2016. This one is more citrus than stone/tropical fruit, but with the same minerality. This wine tastes leaner than the 2017. There's a bit less acid, but this still has the structure for a decade. It's a bit austere for now, so I'll be leaving all my bottles for a few years.

Quite rich and mouthfilling for a Riesling. Tropical fruit and rich acidity.

An excellent vintage, nice balance of fruitiness and minerality with the expected bracing acidity. Nicely done as usual.
